"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has more tonight on why authorities still need the public's help in order to solve this case. >> reporter: ryan benjamin lived in pottstown but spent lost time right here on the streets of west chester with friends. the local da here in chester county is furious and he has strong words for the person he believed dumped her body in the

creek. ryan benjamin was just 24 years old. authorities found her body in a shallow creek on memorial day tied to a cinder block. >> someone out there right now who knows exactly what he did. he tied a cinder block to young woman's leg and dumped her into a pond. the 24-year-old died before she was dumb in the water in east coventry township it took authorities a few days to make a positive identification. >> it's a shock that we would find her body tied to a cinder block in a pond. >> reporter: hogan stopped short of calling what happened a murder but says somebody knows something. "eyewitness news" has learned the 24-year-old pre k teacher spent time in west chester with friends. those who live here say the details in this case are shocking. >> i think it's awful. you know, we're not used to that kind of, um, crime here. you know, i don't worry about safety so much. i teach 24-year-olds. so i don't know, it's terrible.

the drug himself. he was found unresponsive on april 21st. prescription drugs were found in his home. investigators are trying to determine if a doctor was prescribing them to prince in the weeks before his death. now pennsylvania opening up a new front in the war against opioid addiction. lawmakers and law enforcement philadelphia to harrisburg say it's time to take more action to safe lives. natasha brown is in center city with what is being done. natasha? >> reporter: we can tell you tonight, ukee, a prescription drug drop off box was recently added here to the sixth police district in center city philadelphia. this as city and state officials try to tackle the rising opioid addiction crisis. these blue boxes could end up saving lives. that's why you'll see more and more of them popping up in philadelphia police districts. >> this saves lives. for every pill that we get out

of the home -- >> district attorney seth william is expanding office's prescription drug drop off program that began in january. they've already collected more than 200 pounds of unwanted or unneeded prescription drugs. now you can find the med return boxes in 13 police districts around the city. the locations allow anyone to safely and anonymously dispose of unwanted prescription drugs no questions asked. >> we want people to get the medicines out of their home. they don't fall into the wrong hands. children maybe think it's candy. teenagers might think it's something to take to a party. and maybe just the wrong people just become addicted to the painkillers. >> reporter: physical has staggeringly high overdose rates. the highest in the state. many linked to prescription opioids. in 2014, there were 650 overdose deaths in the city of those approximately half had prescription drugs or heroin in their system. governor wolf was in philadelphia on thursday announcing the request for

millions of dollars to address the rising opioid addiction crisis throughout the state. >> we don't have enough treatment centers. so in my last budget that i presented in february, i called on the legislature to appropriate 34 -- over $34 million. >> governor wolf says the money would help to fund 50 outer loop treatment centers across the state and serve 11,000 people year. well state legislators are trying to tackle this crisis from a much broader perspective. meantime here in the city of philadelphia, the district attorney tells us that the goal ultimate system to to have the med return boxes in every police district in the city all 26 of them. we're live in center city philadelphia tonight, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> natasha today we learn the rise in opie i don't do related deaths is pushing local moorings to capacity. gloucester county medical examiner says gloucester salem and camden counties have seen 79 drug deaths this year almost all

caused by heroin. gloucester county has purchased a new refrigerated storage unit to help with overcrowding it can hold an additional 55 bodies. three soldiers are dead and six are missing after an army truck overturned in a rain swollen creek at fort hood in central texas. the accident happened around 11:30 this morning. three bodies were recovered from the flood waters and the search continues tonight for six missing soldiers. three soldiers are in the hospital in stable condition wolf deadly crashes today involving the military's elite fighter jet performance teams. abelian gels fa18 crashed in smyrna, tennessee near nashville killing the pilot. marine captain jeff cook joined the lou angels back in 2014 it happened shortly after take off as the blue angels were practicing for a weekend air show. meantime the pilot of an air force thunderbirds jet safely ejected from his jet before it

crashed today in colorado. moments earlier the pilot was flying the jet over a crowd watching president obama's commencement address to cadets at the air foss academy. after the accident the pilot major alex turner met the president on the tarmac at a nearby air base. police in los angeles releasing disturbing new information about the gunman who carried out a murder suicide in ucla. investigators say they found a kill list belonging to ucla shooting suspect. it led them to home in minneso minnesota. inside police found the body of ashley hasty she married the suspect five years ago. police say 2ucla professors also on the hit list. >> he was only able to locate one. the second faculty member was off campus according to the information we have at the time that he arrive. >> he lived in minnesota. the former doctoral student drove the to u ucla and killed a professor before taking his own

life. he believed the professor stole his property. >> that van belonged to the victim 78-year-old joseph daily. officers found it unoccupied at griscom and oxford today. daily was beaten and strangled inside his theodore street home tuesday. police believe the suspects are kids who had previously targeted the victim friday night. the camden county animal shelter is trying to find homes for three dogs that were rescued from a dog meat farm in south korea. the dogs are joey, liberty and tisha. for several years now the humane society international has been trying to shut down the dog meat market in southeast asia. they say the dogs are kept in demore rabble conditions and tortured. a recall toll night in support of philadelphia's proposed soda tax. skyline right now. temperature 68 degrees very mild at this late hour and winds out of the southeast right now. temperatures a little bit more consistent than where we were at earlier in the day. sea breeze going down the shore temperatures right now in the middle 60s. still very mild in berks county. 73 degrees. and reading and along the i-95 corridor generally in the 60s and checking in on our live neighborhood network. temperatures again in the 60s. but little bit cooler down the shore. 63 degrees with that easterly component to the wind flow sea breeze driving on shore keeping temperatures cooler. cinnaminson reporting right now at 69 degrees. also evidenced by that moisture returning to our atmosphere, fog settling in. visible down to less than a mile in ac. 5 miles in wildwood and in dover visible down to about 4 miles and see areas of fog in the city as well. reducing our visibility at times overnight with some showers developing late. mild night at 65 degrees. then for tomorrow, high temperatures right around average. 79 is our average.

we'll have showers in the morning. some breaks of sunshine as we head into the afternoon. but we can see some hit or miss thunderstorms developing as we head into the afternoon hours. now it's not going to be wash out it's not going to be all day long. but have that umbrella on stand by. future weather showing us as we head past midnight showers developing area of precipitation developing as we head into the four, five, 6am hour. showers around. could even contend with a few spotty showers for your friday morning commute and best chance of heavier rainfall will be north and west of the city. as we move towards 11:00 o'clock seeing little bit of breaks in the cloud deck could see a few spotty showers around so again going to be hit or miss shower and storm activity through the day tomorrow. storm scan3 showing us quiet conditions for right now but that cloud deck increasing over the last several hours. area of precipitation still back towards harrisburg but moving eastbound and it will start to push in west of the city as we head into the next couple of hours. we have a slow-moving cold front

so most of the precipitation is still up wind. the cold front will move in and stall out for the day tomorrow what's not stalled is bonnie. yes, it is back. it has re-emerge flood a tropical depression regaining tropical characteristics sitting off the north carolina coast right now but it will continue to move off to the east. possibly restrengthening but not going to pose a problem for the east coast or for us here in the delaware valley so that is good news. but for tomorrow, you might need that umbrella. scattered showers in the morning little break as we head into midday mainly dry conditions. more humid and then a few hit or miss storms in the afternoon hours. high temperatures right around 80 degrees. cooler tomorrow down the shore with high temperatures held back into the 70s think sea breeze getting going once begun and for the up coming weekend it will be steam mow one. we're warmer on saturday. 84 degrees. mainly dry conditions under a mix of sun and clouds and then that rain chance will start to return as we head late into saturday night and sunday could
