mosquito season begins zika rye rust found its way in our area prevention efforts underway in the region to keep zika from spreading. severe weather as we head into sunday but pretty quiet for this evening. we have had showers, mainly this morning, break out those umbrellas but activities really starting to wayne especially over last hour. it looking ominous outside with all that gray cloud cover but really shower activity sparse at this point. much of the showers off to the south and west, couple sprinkles up towards poconos, otherwise pretty quiet conditions radar wise. temperatures, we were fairly cool today, running a little bit below average, and it is our coolest day in about two weeks in philadelphia a. 74 degrees is your current temperature. seventy-four in allentown. we are at 07 in ac. glorious looking beach day as we head into our upcoming weekend but not too bad either. if you want to stick your beach chair out, a few breaks of sunshine for your saturday. 81 degrees. uv index at seven. watch out for afternoon thunderstorm but highs really focused really heading in to sunday, large area for potential of severe weather, storm prediction center does

have much of the delaware valley in a slight risk. main threat time frame will be late afternoon and into the evening hours, and, even south of the city, portions of delaware in the enhanced risk, a third category on this severe weather risk scale, so we will talk about what to expect and main threats, and when those threats will start rolling in and rolling out and full forecast coming up in just a few. >> okay, we will see you then, thank you. new at 6:00 a north north pen high school student was in a montgomery county courtroom today. he is accused offsetting a fire in the high school's band storage room forcing students and staff to evacuate. as "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos explains the school is dealing with the clean up approaching one million-dollar. >> reporter: ten days ago may 24th a fire broke out here at north penn high school, today a 17 year-old student from the school in juvenile court, admit to go felony arson and causing a catastrophe charges. the teenager's mother leaving

the montgomery county juvenile court hearing, on friday. the judge ordering her son to undergo both psychological and psychiatric evaluations, before his sentencing, within 20 days. attorneys for both sides, did not want to speak on camera. >> students are naturally upset that one of their own would start a fire. they are trying to understand why someone would do that but they are dealing with as best as they can. >> reporter: doctor curtis dietrich says students are dealing with the stress, as district officials are cleaning with the clean up cordoning off most damage area of the band room and surrounding storage offices. >> estimates approximately 800 you this dollars in total, of that 500,000 is damage to the property, and there is about $300,000 worth of damage to the contents. most significant portion of the damage to the contents is sheet music and then musical instruments that were in that room. >> reporter: he says school will pay for cleaning students instruments. >> there were 200 instruments in there, good news, none of the injuries are a total loss.

>> reporter: but physical repair and reconstruction to the building will take much longer. >> it is a big clean up. we have companies that we have engaged to come in and assess damage and in regards to rebuilding the area that will take a couple months. >> reporter: as for those evacuations on the 17 year-old prosecutors say they will ask for permanent placement that means that the student here's involved in this case could be in custody, until the age of 21. reporting here from lansdale i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". bucks county small business owner is being commended tonight for using deadly force to stop a would be robber. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff joins us from fair less hills with more on what happened, alex? >> reporter: ukee, locals who know this business owner described him as kind, hard working but now being hailed by many tonight as a hero, not only for protecting himself but potentially stopping tens of thousands of dollars worth of prescription medications from hitting the streets. >> when somebody has a shotgun you have every right to expect that they will use it, and you

are justified killing him. >> reporter: it is right no business owner expects to exercise, at 10:00 a.m. that is when police say owner of the pennsbury pharmacy in levittown saw a man get out of the fan, in a halloween mask and approach his store. >> the owner yelled to him several times i'm armed, do not come into this store. >> reporter: but the man did, police say suspect charged owner and exposed a shotgun from inside an umbrella but was stopped as he leaped through the back pharmacy petition, shot and killed by the store owner's hand gun. owner set off an alarm to notify authorities. meanwhile a van found to be stolen was waiting to be out front and inside of it police say this man. >> what were you thinking sitting out here. >> reporter: accomplice according to prosecutors whom did not hear gunfire, thus did not flee. he is now facing major charges >> we will prosecute his surviving co conspirator, both for the crime of robbery and

>> so we will address them this one does not have zika a virus. >> reporter: identifying mosquito species may not seem like most exciting job but with the threat of the zika virus spreading to the u.s. it has never been more important. >> these are two that passed transmit zika, this is the picture and that one i'm's sure everybody has scene because very, very clearly black and white. >> reporter: also known as asian tiger mosquito, this is the lesser of two species known to transmit zika but very common to our region. throughout south jersey county mosquito control departments are increasing efforts to trap and have the state test mosquitoes for zika. >> they will say if or if not this area was positive for the diseases. fit is, don't go there. they will spray it. water management. >> reporter: that includes spraying for adult mosquitoes and treating ponds of chemicals and releasing fish that pray on larvae. dumping over buckets or anything that may collect rain water in your yard is one of the most simplest and effective ways to reduce threat of the mosquito and

mosquito transmitted diseases like zika virus. >> all you have to do is knock it over. they cannot live without it. >> reporter: each county says they have been doing outreach to protect themselves from mosquito by the and looking out for flu like symptoms caused by zika. >> relatively mild disease, and most adults, and great concern is for women who are trying to conceive or pregnant. >> reporter: one baby born in hackensack, new jersey reportedly suffered birth defects because of sick, more than a dozen cases in the state of been linked to international travel but so far none from mosquito by the and local officials hope to keep that it way. in lindenwald, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". they are rare, long the jersey shore but beach patrols are preparing for possible shark attacks, and here's why, some experts predict 2015 will be a record year for shark attacks nationwide. over past century there have been 15 shark attacks in new jersey, three of them in the last ten years. experts say that the best way for swim tours stay safe is,

we pick up an inch, inch and a half in some areas, chester springs picking up half inch of rain this morning, kenneth square a half inch and wilmington delaware picking up quarter inch of friday's rainfall. temperatures right new we are generally in the 70's, 74 in allentown this time yesterday we were up in the 80's. we are at 07 in ac and 72 in millville. down the shore we have had a sea breeze kick nothing with temperatures back in the 60's. we are at 67 in ocean city. also in the 60's, dew point, we had a break from the humidity, yesterday but dew points are elevated once again, they will creep up last night and they are in the mid to upper 60's right new so we have that steam factor going for us as we head into sunday. dew points will approach 70-degree mark. so we will be in that oppressive range. overnight tonight mild night in store, 66 degrees. not great sleeping weather, probably to have turn on the ac. isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible with the areas of fog. the as we head into our day

tomorrow, mainly dry day, eight , four humid, mixture of sun and clouds and chance of a few late day showers and thunderstorms popping up but quiet conditions right now on storm scan three but we will have cloud cover in place, and few speckles of sprinkles and light showers out there but a activity is pretty quiet. quiet as it moved away, bonnie. it has regenerated in to a tropical storm. neat there to look the ate the on satellite but she's continuing to have move east and will not cause a problem for us but what could cause a problem, strong cold front as we head into sunday, moist atmosphere, creating instability and moisture for these storms to feed off of. few isolated showers in the morning, rumble of thunder but most activity will come in the afternoon and evening hours, heavy rain is possible, also possibility of storms, with strong gusty wind, so definitely keep an eye to the changing weather situation as we head late day into sunday but for this evening, pretty quiet conditions, passing shower for tomorrow morning, cloud around if you need get
