attendance. don champion is in louisville. >> reporter: good afternoon jim and brooke. so far today has gone exactly how muhammed ali wanted. he wanted every day people to be part of this day of remembrance. the fact that people by the thousands have flocked here to say goodbye shows the legacy he's left behind. >> ali! >> reporter: a hearse carrying the body of muhammed ali traveled the streets of the fighter's beloved louisville one last time. hundreds lined the 19-mile route this morning to pay tribute as the procession drove on the boulevard named after ali and passed his childhood home. >> the diversity people have come together is just tremendous testament what he meant to the world. >> reporter: marcella yubanks handled out balloons with famous ali quotes attached. >> muhammed ali's dream has not died. >> reporter: the people here are extremely proud of louisville's native son. they remember ali not only as a great boxer but also a man who was willing to take a stand

against war. >> he was true to himself and i think people respect that and how he stood up for his beliefs. >> reporter: years ago, ali helped plan his funeral and wanted it open to the public. this afternoon, his wife lonnie will be the first to eulogize the champ during his memorial service at a downtown arena. former president bill clinton will be the final speaker paying tribute to an icon who many considered the most famous person in the world. >> this morning there were some changes announced to the funeral procession and the service this afternoon. for one mike tyson was named as a paul bearer. we also learned that valerie jared will be reading a statement from president obama during the service this afternoon. we're in louisville, don champion cbs3 "eyewitness news". well hockey fans of all ages are mourning the death of mr. hockey hall of famer gordy howl. he hold nhl records for games played in seasons in the league. his 801 goals ranked second only to wayne gets ski.

he played on four stanley cup winners for the detroit red wings and didn't retire until he was 52 years old. his son mark played for the flyers. gordy how well was 88. developing this noon in camden county, a headache near the highway. crumbling concrete causes trouble near an i-76 overpass. alexandra huff joins us from clem avenue in gloucester city. alex. >> reporter: brooke, yes, we are in clem avenue right by route 130 which has been shut down for most of the morning due reports of concrete chunks falling from the under belly of this 76 overpass. look at the view from chopper. last report we got in the right lane southbound in this area is shut down for some of these repairs. the people who i spoke with out here told me the very same thing happened about a month ago. now, back in 2013, work started on the deck of the bridge so the top of it there on 76 but according to the state transportation safety program, it was realized that the structure itself needed

extensive work. community hearing was held back in november to discuss that site and others like it that need repair in this area. now there are people on scene here, no one has been very receptive of question that is we've had. right now it's unclear what kind of work they're doing underneath the bridge, how long it might take or if a larger portion of 76 will be impacted by these repairs. we'll be sure to keep posted. reporting live in camden county, alexandra huff, cbs3 "eyewitness news". thank you so much. alex. it's a gorgeous friday but it won't stay quiet as nice through the weekend. let's get first look at the forecast with meteorologist lauren casey who is live on the sky deck. lauren. thanks jim. beautiful conditions right now. the sun beating down. humidity levels are low. temperatures are feeling warm. a beautiful way to end the work week. our current temperature right now in philadelphia is 71 degrees. bit of a breeze kicking out of the northwest around 20 miles an hour. check out the dew points down into the 30s. meaning the humidity it's just

not there. feels so nice and comfortable. 72 right now at the shore and 61 degrees still kind of cool in the poconos. storm scan3 showing us a bunch of nothing. a couple of passing clouds keep around the nice sunshine as we head into the second half of our day today. heading into the 3:00 o'clock hour, temperatures top right around 79 degrees. little bit breezy for us mostly sunny conditions and very pleasant into the 9:00 o'clock hour. great for friday evening plans. 72 degrees by 9:00 o'clock. and if you're spending the weekend down the shore beautiful day today. 78 degrees under that sunshine. you'll be able to get out times tomorrow but there are some scattered storms in the forecast and few could be strong to severe. we'll talk more about the timing of those storms an win dean warm sunday in store coming up in your full forecast in just a few. >> thanks a lot, lauren. beautiful day to get outside but people who like to visit of one philadelphia's most popular outdoor spots on guard today. >> justin firm tells us about another attack on philadelphia's schuylkill river trail. >> reporter: earnest and dawn

smith are regularring on the schuylkill river trails. familiar with it's twists, turns and faces they see on their daily work. >> it's a safe environment because you're in groups. >> reporter: then word of attack thursday of 24-year-old woman walking the very trail the smiths know so well. >> it bothers me a little because, you know, it was ran. >> reporter: just before 3:00 p.m. thursday philadelphia police report a woman followed from behind and then slashed across her forehead. police say it happened as she was walking upstairs to the walnut street bridge from the schuylkill river trail. a witness was close by. and seconds before the slashing the victim recalls her assailant telling her "you don't know anything". >> anybody coming up close to you, you have to be leary about that. >> reporter: there have been safety concerns along this picture rec path before. last month, two separate reports of men exposing themselves within one hour on one day. only one suspect was caught. >> you see something going on someone looks suspicious you can automatically use your phone or

whatever to call the police or whatever to get somebody out here. >> reporter: local group run 215 will soon roll out its own volunteer watch to do just that and back police patrols. >> we're hoping that schuylkill river trail watch will be another level of, you know, of advocacy and another level of accountability and watchful eye on top of what the police department is doing and they're working really really hard. >> reporter: as police respond that trail watch is set to start later this month. that victim suffered a gash to her forehead and was taken to presbyterian for treatment. meantime police are also still looking for the man who slashed her. off the walnut street bridge, i'm justin finch cbs3 "eyewitness news". thanks justin. authorities say the man found dead at the scene of a house fire in springfield, delaware county, set the fire. and then took his own life. the fire ward through the home on east thompson avenue granite terrace after midnight. firefighters controlled the blaze in about an hour. no one else was hurt. chopper three was over another house fire this one in

east oak lane within the hour. flames and dense smoke made it tough for firefighters along the 100 block of east cheltenham avenue. there are no reports of injuries but there's a lot of damage right now. so far officials have not figure out what started this fire. eyewitnesses are talking about the scary moments when an overnight fire left three people running for their lives in west department for. authorities say there's no evidence that the fire was criminal but they don't know what caused it. jan carrabeo has dramatic video captured by an eye witness. >> reporter: restoration crews on sight of a devastating house fire in west deptford, gloucester county, working to board up what remains of a home at 66 church street. this fast-moving fire devoured the contracture late thursday night and sent three people to the hospital including a man who neighbors say tried to escape the flames from a second story window. >> some minor injuries. i'm not exactly sure on the injuries right now but they are being treated at a local hospital. >> reporter: a neighbor shot the video after the fire broke ought around 10:00 o'clock.

she recalls here of hearing an argument and seeing the flames. one of the victims she says broke through upstairs window and tried to climb down to safety. instead, part of the home broke off and he fell to the ground. fire crews arrived within minutes. >> crews made aggressive attack and able to keep it to majority of it to the original fire building with some extension to the house next door. minor damage. some burnt siding but we were able to just keep it to that. report roar the fire investigation is now underway and the counsel tie prosecutor's office is involved. meantime the sister of a man who lives here stopped by late this morning to see the damage with her own eyes. shocked she says her brother was not hurt. >> now many people who live on this block were just too shaken up to speak with us on camera but they say after seeing the flames this morning the folks who live here are really lucky to be alive. this home is a complete loss. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. in west department for, jan carrabeo cbs3 "eyewitness news". welcoming up on cbs3 eyewitness news, a new way to pay is coming to a transit station near you. it's the future of fair cards.

well our region continues to come together to fight childhood cancer. >> today children's hospital is hosting another lemonade stand a day after a successful fundraiser right here at cbs3. it was record breaking day yesterday. our tenth annual telethon for alex's lemonade stand. many volunteers gave their time throughout the day honoring the memory of alex scott the little girl who started it all. big thanks to our partners sponsors and the viewers our grand total from this amazing day $4,986,068. that is a new record. it's awesome, yeah. >> yes. we had good day yesterday. i was getting nervous. it's really nice day. people aren't inside watching the telethon. we have a repeat performance today. >> yeah maybe the sunshine getting everyone in a good mood. feeling donating. >> yes, inspiring us sunshine out l another nice day in store today. low humidity levels on the order of fall like humidity feeling so comfortable but temperatures are nice and warm.

of course, we got that bright blue sky in effect want a perfect day to be down the shore can i break out my teleportation device and just go right down there to ocean city? >> yes. >> take everybody with us. ocean city people lucky folks out there on the boardwalk and on the beach. blue sky conditions. just a beautiful end to the work week and start to the weekend. and we're almost about to start the official summer season. so we'll take look at our spring highlights. we're just about 10 days away from the official start to summer. march was an interesting one. kind of temperatures spanning the stretch there. 27 degrees the lowest. highest 82 degrees a very dry april. followed by of course we all remember that very soggy may our tenth wettest may on record in philadelphia. june so far has been pretty kind a couple of cooler days this week with highs in the 70s but altogether has been a warm month so far with our average temperature running about 2.5 degrees above average. but temperatures right now feel great. 71 degrees in philly. 70 in the lehigh valley. down the shore, instead of a sea breeze we actually have a land

breeze so temperatures are consistent and stable right now in the upper 60s and low 70s. so beautiful conditions. there we go can we tele port here in margate right now people out got their beach chairs out. some sun bell las looking good. nice blue skies and the ocean there in the background very nice conditions and feeling great. dew points tell us about that sticky factor when they're down into the 30s and 40s there is no sticky factor. almost feels crisp out there. rare to see on a june day with those dew points down into the 30s. storm scan3 showing us not really much of anything. a couple of high clouds crossing the delaware valley and we'll keep around mostly sunny skies into the day today. a high temperature topping at 79 degrees. little bit breezy for us with northwesterly winds that will relax as we head tonight. mainly clear and pleasant down to 60 degrees. nice night in store but thing get little trickier as we head into the upcoming weekend a chance of storms tomorrow afternoon a warm weekend high temperatures in the middle 80s and you will notice that muggy factor especially tomorrow and we do have this storm threat late day tomorrow.

the storm prediction center has pretty much of the all delaware valley in a slight risk of severe weather i'm not expecting widespread storm activity. but the storm that is do form scattered in nature could be on the stronger side. time to look out for two to 10 tomorrow. gusty winds will be the main threat but also some small hail possible. we'll show you future weather starting off pretty dry. we can see isolated storms developing as early as midday but then more scattered activity as we head into the late afternoon and evening hours. see a couple of these cells look on the potent side as we head into the evening hours. still that threat main taped possibly strong to severe weather so tomorrow is not going to be a wash out. but especially if do you have those outdoor plans need to keep an eye to the coy sky to the changing weather situation in the late afternoon and evening hours. as we head into our sunday, we'll see 85 degrees sunshine returning. the humidity levels start to drop off once again although sunday morning will be a mild one at 70 degrees. and then beautiful conditions return once again into monday and tuesday.
