in marlton new jersey was killed inside an orlando florida concert venue last night while she was signing autographs. police say she was shot and killed by this man, 27-year-old kevin james loybel. correspondent henna daniels has more. >> reporter: fans of christina grimmie were in disbelief outside of the plaza live saturday. police say the suspect posed as a fan and walked up to grimmie after she performed there last night and shot her. >> she was doing like a meet and greet signing autographs and selling merchandise. >> reporter: witnesses say grimmie's brother tackled the gunman preventing him from hurting the handful of fans waiting on line. that's when the 27-year-old turned the gun on himself. >> we don't know if they were friends, if he was just a crazy fan that followed her on twitter on social media. >> reporter: grimmie rose to fame after appearing on the voice where she finished in third place during season six. >> i just want to get something out for my fans so it's not like there's an

awkward lull or anything. >> reporter: her voice coach adam levine posted his photo on instagram with the caption i'm sad shocked and confused. this just isn't fair. christina aguilera tweeted so sad passing of the real grimmie. beautiful memory of the voice family and true fighter. police recovered two guns, two magazines and a hunting knife. investigators are now going through his electronic devices and social media accounts looking for a motive. henna daniels for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, turning to our weather in the area. we're dealing with some pop-up storms around the region this evening. let's get right over to meteorologist lauren casey in the weather center with the very latest for us. hey, lauren. >> hey, natasha. we still have that threat especially as as we get into the next couple hours. getting a live look at center city philadelphia, just a lot of sunshine and feeling a lot of heat. 91 degrees, now our warmest

day of the season so far and of course with that humidity feeling more like 94 degrees. west wind at least up around 15 miles per hour to help cool us off but these temperatures are soaring across the delaware valley. we're at 91 in allentown, 89 right now in ac, 91 degrees in reading and 90 in dover. storm scan3 not showing us too much activity right now but again the atmosphere is continuing to destabilize so i think we still do have the threat of sees a few isolated pop-up storms over the next couple hours. area of concentration and i'm looking at right now for some destabilization watching cumulus clouds over the lehigh valley and poconos. we could see a storm form again as we head into this evening but i think after sunset tonight that chance is going to start to diminish but storms that do form over the next couple hours could possibly be strong. we're going to keep around the humid conditions and the very warm conditions into this evening and overnight but humidity is going to drop off as we head throughout our sunday and we'll talk about when it will feel much more comfortable coming up in just

a couple of minutes. >> thank you. police meantime northwest philadelphia are investigating a deadly shooting. it happened at about 2 o'clock this morning on the 100 block of herman street t officers responded to reports of a person shot in a vehicle. and found the 27-year-old man sitting in the driver's seat of a 2015 chrysler. he had been shot in the left side and was pronounced dead at that scene. a female passenger was in the car with him at the time and had not been shot. the gunman is still out there on the loose. now to port richmond where a truck hit a light pole and knocked out power to part of that area. the accident happened shortly before 2 o'clock this morning at aramingo avenue and wheatsheaf lane. because of the power outage the nearby wawa brief had to shut down. the truck was carrying fuel and it leaked onto the road. no word of any injuries just yet. now to campaign 2016 news tonight. republican donald trump is rallying supporters in pittsburgh while democrat hillary clinton has no events scheduled tonight. this is the first time that

both parties have presumptive presidential nominees. cbs's brian webb has more. >> reporter: off teleprompter and back to his old self in tampa donald trump attacked democrats and republicans including mitt romney the former presidential nominee. >> the guy's a stone cold loser. he chokes and when you're a choker you can never give a choker a second chance. >> reporter: at a private summit on saturday in utah romney accused trump of promoting trickle down racism but the chairman of the national committee reince priebus says trump will win the white house with or without gop leaders the trump agrees. >> the republicans have to stick together, they have to be smart and they have to be tough because, you know, one thing i'll say about the democrats to a much greater degree, they stick together. >> reporter: hillary clinton took saturday off after wrapping up the nomination this week and picking up an endorsement from president

obama. on friday, she blasted trump on women's rights at a planned parenthood function. >> when donald trump says let's make america great again, that is code for let's take america backward. >> reporter: clinton met with massachusetts senator and trump attack dog elizabeth warren this week adding to speculation she's being considered as a possible running mate. ryan webb for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> police had to break up a huge soccer riot here at the euro 2016 tournament in the southern french city of marseielles. this is the third day of violence at that tournament. authorities investigated a deadly hot air balloon

accident near rochester new york. the balloon carrying passengers and crew landed in a field last night. four crew members held the balloon down while the passengers got out of the basket safely but somehow the balloon started rising again. that's when one of the crew members got tangled in the balloon. he was lifted 100 feet off the ground before falling to his death. and a huge rocket launched from cape canaveral in florida today. >> we have main engine ignition. two, one and liftoff. >> the launch was delayed by two days because of bad weather. an incredible 2.1 million pounds of thrust was required for a successful liftoff. it's believed this rocket is carrying a national reconnaissance site. the impulse is in new york after departing the lehigh valley last night. this is video of the plane completing a flyover of the statue of liberty early this

morning before landing at j.f.k. airport. the impulse is on a flight around the world. it took off from the arab emirate in march of 2015. pope francis meantime held an audience with hundreds of people attending a disabilities congress in rome today. the pope answered questions from participants about fighting discrimination. he describes it as "the worst thing that there is among us." during a speech by the pontiff a child with down's syndrome was invited on stage. francis hugged the little girl and asked her to sit down near him. he praised her bravery. this is all part of the jubilee of mercy. back here at home hundreds marched in the fifth annual philadelphia disability pride parade on market street today. the parade began at the constitution center and it ended with speeches and live performance at city hall. the event was organized by the mayor's commission on people with disabilities and other partners. >> stay with us everyone.

>> welcome back. three days of festivities commemorating the 90th birthday of queen elizabeth, ii under way right now. the queen and the royal family waved from the balcony at buckingham palace after a flyover of royal air force planes. the queen turned 90 in april but by tradition she has an official birthday. today is also prince philip's actual 95th birthday. also carrying on alex scott's dream one cup of lemonade at a time. this is the stand that started it all, the original alex's lemonade stand. "eyewitness news" at penn wynne elementary school. alex's friends and family

continue to honor her dream holding a family fun event at her school every june. and just like i was the other alex's lemonade stands this one also raised money to help fight childhood cancer. another lemonade stand here was held in woolwich township gloucester county today. this one hosted by 10-year-old mario capino. he has been battling inoperable brain tumor since march. this year he hopes to raise $50,000. >> not only are we doing this to find a cure for mario but we're doing to it find a cure for every child who is battling the toughest battle that they were handd to them. >> mario and his family have raised more than $307,000 for alex's lemonade stand over the course of the last six years. that's awesome. children's hospital hosted a big family block party in south philadelphia today. organizers welcomed neighborhood to the south philadelphia health and

literacy center. the block party featured rides games face painting, lots of entertainment and music. the center is a result of a partnership between chop the city of philadelphia and the free library of philadelphia as well. lands is hiring lifeguards accepting last minute applications today. tryouts are tomorrow morning at 9:00. you must be 16, you also must make a 500-meter swim in the ocean and run a half mile in less than three minutes, 45 seconds. yes, you got to be pretty tough. >> i got that down. >> you got it. >> yeah, i'm definitely that fast. >> you're in. >> i'm going to moonlight as a lifeguard i think this summer. >> it might be fun. >> might be fun. >> you know, i guess people are soaking up the rays right now but hopefully that's going to last. >> down the shore is the place to be today, at the beaches certainly. the water is still a little cool in the middle 60's but with these toasty temperatures a few people there in our neighborhood network getting a live look at margate a couple people on the edge of the

ocean dipping their toes in helping to cool us off from these temperatures that are quite toasty. pretty quiet conditions. we had the atmospheric variables in place for the potential for isolated strong weather. into the next couple hours we could see still a few pop-up storms. we have this one storm barreling towards new york city. destabilization has to continue for these storms to form. we're seeing isolated storms forming over parts of western and central pennsylvania. it's a we head after sunset that chance will start to diminish. this model giving us a chance at a few isolated storms as we head into the evening hours over the next couple of hours but then after 8:30, 9 o'clock once the sun sets and we lose that heating of the day our chance at destabilization, things are really go together start to quiet down and just a stray shower overnight but otherwise chance of a and isolated storm early. otherwise partly cloudy, very mild. the ac is going to be running all night long. 72 degrees. humid conditions stay with us tonight but then start to

lessen through the day tomorrow gradually. by tomorrow afternoon it's going to feel much more comfortable humidity-wise but temperatures will still be quite warm. 86 degrees. we'll have a lot of sunshine and a bit of a breeze out of the northwest up around 15 to 25 miles per hour so a windy day in store for tomorrow. temperatures today, this is our warmest of the season so far in philadelphia, 91 degrees the high temperature and our fifth 90-degree day so far. even down the shore not much of a sea breeze kicking in so we did top in the upper 80's down the shore in most locations but temperatures are a little bit cooler in some spots. locally with that breeze trying to come in off the southwest there bringing in some cooler ocean air to ocean city right now at 76 degrees. but we warmed up tremendously over the last 24 hours. temperature change on the order of about 15 degrees in most our locations and of course you'll notice the big, big difference in the humidity levels. that dewpoint tells us about that sticky factor.

dewpoints over the last 24 hours are up on the order of 30 degrees, so yesterday it felt nice, comfortable and pleasant. today the total opposite. feels sticky, humid, steamy with dewpoints in the upper 60's and low 70's. right now winds are out of the southwest driving in that more moist air. we have a bit of a breeze right now to help cool us off at some of our reporting sites but as we head into the day tomorrow on the backside of a cold front, dewpoints are going to drop off by late day tomorrow, dewpoints back down into the 50's and potentially 40's so by late day tomorrow, it's not going to be steamy, it's going to feel awesome but it's still going to be a warm day across the region tomorrow, windy as well. high temperature still topping in the middle 80's, down the shore a bit cooler in the poconos where that cooler air will arrive earlier in the day, a high temperature at 67 degrees. and it will be cooler in the lehigh valley as well. to the north and west of the city you're going to see that cooler air starting to spill in first on the backside of the cold front, 79 the high temperature in allentown but still pretty warm across parts of delaware tomorrow and along

the coast as well with highs in the mid to upper 80's. and then as we head into monday, in the city and surrounding counties we get a taste of that cooler air, 78 degrees on monday, breezy and comfortable. still pretty comfortable into tuesday, just some high clouds, a dry day at 80 degrees. wednesday looks pretty good. the humidity does start to increase as we head into the second half of next week. isolated storm chances as we head into thursday and really quiet conditions overall with high temperatures generally in the 80's and that is our last week of the spring season. >> thank you so much. ready for summer. thank you. phillies in action earlier. >> i wish their bats would heat up a little bit. early game for the phillies and nationals. 12:05 start. phillies offense looking like they needed a couple extra hours of sleep. to the second inning phillies with man on seconds and third, nobody out but the nationals tanner rorke.

cup. the philadelphia soul in action this afternoon against the l.a. kiss. a 37-yard touchdown and they're up by eight. to the third quarter, he finds jeremy richardson. check out the moves. nice blocking. soul go up by 30 so not too much of a contest this afternoon. the soul win 73, yes, 73 to 37. the warriors just one win away from their second consecutive nba championship after last night's win over the cavs but this is pretty much what everyone is talking about. lebron and green getting tangled up. both players had to be separated. fouls called on both players. the nba is reviewing the incident. green now just one flagrant foul, two technical fouls away from an automatic suspension. game five monday night at golden state. beautiful day for golf at the philadelphia cricket club. senior players championship
