tonight and start of the workweek. the is there something to look forward to if you don't like true midsummer like stuff. yesterday made it to 92 degrees in philadelphia warm start, we are at 78 in the airport. nice shot there, high level cloud, little cold front that came through dry will continue to move off shore today and that will bring in the dryer air mass. wind will kick up as well. we will get wind think afternoon. look the at the temperature change over the last 24 hours, as there you see a day ago we were 25 degrees colder, yesterday at this time in allentown. that warm air is in place. eighty-two already in allentown at this hour. eighty in red willing. seventy-eight in philadelphia. millville and atlantic city. suburbs same situation upper 70's to lower 80's. temperatures leveling off though as we get this push of cooler, dryer air in. we will make it to the mid 80's. dew point is still running high. they are well in the mid 60's. so that indicates a humid air mass but they will drop in the 50's and even 40's later today and tonight indicating dryer air with low humidity.

storm scan three just notice aid little band of clouds moving through that is the cold front that will move off shore this afternoon and we will keep skies mainly sunny through the rest of the day. warm, breezy, less humid, 86 degrees for philadelphia mid 80's at the shore where we have a westerly breeze off the land. it will heat up there along the coast and in the poconos, very nice at 70. partly sunny. tomorrow's highs, they will be below average. we will talk about how long that cool down will last, in a couple minutes. back to you, rahel. major breaking news overnight. deadly mass shooting inside a nightclub in orlando, florida. police say approximately 20 people were shot and killed including the gun man. the shooting happened around 2:00 at the pulse orlando a gay dance club. pulse orlando posted on its own facebook page, everyone get out of pulse and keep running. officers advised people to stay away from the area. police say that the scene turn into a hostage situation and they made the decision to go inside and rescue hostages around 5:00 this morning.

>> our swat officers, exchanged gunfire the with the suspect, the suspect is dead, he appeared to be carrying a rifle, salt type rifle and a handgun and had some type of device on him. multiple people are dead inside pulse nightclub. at least 42 people have been transported, to various hospitals. >> eyewitnesses say officers were loading injured club goers in to ambulances, this mass shooting comes just one night after another shooting in orlando that left new jersey state worker steven dead. we will hear from the friend of the, marlton native in a few minutes. lets get to breaking news in our area a fire that went up to three alarms in west philadelphia ape fire fighters are to still on the scene, where flames ripped through that apartment building. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio has been on the scene all morning, cherri, what can you tell us.

>> reporter: good morning, rahel, the fire is out but this is still a very, very active scene. lets take a look at behind, at the scene behind me, you can see blown out windows, you can see smoke dal age to the exterior of the netherland apartment here at forty-third and chestnut the street. the the good news noise one was injured and adam thiel called this one of the most incredible fire stops he has ever seen and commended the fire department for his work. he said that the fire officials are still working on this, three alarmer and they took more than a hundred fire fighters and three dozen fire and emergency vehicle tolls control the blaze. he said the call came in around 5:00 a.m. fire officials arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the four story apartment building which actually includes six buildings, and they say expect was coming from the windows, of the apartments fourth floor, fire officials had to deal with low

visibility and smokey conditions, but they had the fire under control, just after 6:00 a.m. with no injuries to the residents or the fire fighters. but of course is there still quite a bit of worry from those who saw the flames and from the residents live in this building. >> this house is on fire. you could see the flames going about 30 feet in the air. the house was actually on fire. >> my first concern was to the people that are living there, i hope that everybody got out. nobody lost any of their major possessions or anything. >> reporter: you can see some possessions, in one of the parts of the buildings that was not touched by the fire. commissioner thiel says there was a partial collapse but they were able to contain the fire to one building, and on one floor. some residents may be able to return home at some point with

only some smoke and water damage. now, back out here live as you can see the road is still going to be closed as fire fighters continue to work in this building to ensure that it is structurally sound. l and i will be on the scene. fire marshals are continuing to investigate exactly what caused this three alarm blaze. live from west philadelphia, cherri gregg for kyw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> cherri, thank you for the update. authorities in florida still are trying to figure out why a gunman shot and killed rising star cristina grimmie. the 22-year old marlton native was signing autographs after her performance friday night at the time. police say 27 year-old kevin james loibl fired shots and was tackled to the ground by grimmie's brother. loibl then turned the gun on himself. loibl went to the show intending cristina but they do not know why. as police continue their investigation a south jersey man who knew cristina spoke with "eyewitness news" about

trending on line. the south jersey community is also mourning loss of the singer, a memorial for cristina grimmie continues to grow at cherokee high school in herald hometown of marlton burlington county. our coverage continues on line, get latest on the investigation in the the death of the young singer at cbs philly.com. well, police are investigating a homicide in the cities grays ferry neighborhood. officers tell thaws two men were shot around 11:00 o'clock last night. bullet casings and guns littered the street near 18th and tasker. one man died at the scene, other in the stomach, and he is in critical condition. the victim that died had heroin and thousands of dollars in carbon him, they believed that this was a robbery gone bad. police are also investigating i double stab nothing center city, officials tell thaws two women got in the fight near 13th and locust streets, both were rushed to the hospital, with stab wonderful to the face and chest, and both are said to be in stable condition. police are also investigating after two men

were found shot once fatally in the wissonoming section. it happened around 10:30 last night at ditman and devereaux streets. one man was found dead inside a car with the gunshot wound to the back of his head, other was found around the corner shot multiple times and he is in critical condition. an 11 year-old boy is recovering this morning after he was struck by a car in north philadelphia. the crash happened yesterday afternoon at 19th and lehigh, interest investigators say the 28 year-old driver of the volume accounts wag than struck a nissan. it left the road hit a boy and then a building. five two-year old woman driving the nissan is in hospitalized in critical condition. >> i'm coming from this way, and i said he about to hit that little boy. as he came across there, got out of the way, other one was hit and hit him right in the wall. >> the child is in stable condition, the driver of the volkswagen suffered minor injuries, the causes still under investigation. happening right now hundreds of cyclist are taking

it is june, which means high schoolers are graduating and getting ready for college and the quote real world. "eyewitness news" reporter pat gallen tells us about a grad who is ready to handle many different responsibilities. >> reporter: there is impressive and then olivia steinmus, soon to be graduate is jack of many trade. olivia is captain of the golf team at boyer town high school, make that captain of the boys golf team. >> i have played for both the boys and the girls varsity teams. >> how does that happen. >> well, when i was a freshman we didn't have a girls team so i was playing on the guys team. then we had five girls who were out, but then gradually we developed our actual team. >> reporter: she was nice enough to show me a thing or two on the course and when olivia is not schooling guys on the links she's an accomplished base player with the orchestra. >> i think everyone is playing

violin. i liked to stand out. >> reporter: maestro lewis says olivia was not afraid to tackle a big instrument. >> mostly it is an instrument reserved for the guys but she has, taken over and she has certainly commanding her section. >> reporter: most importantly olivia is a member of the the national honor society and has her sights set on vanderbilt university in the fall. she can golf, play base and aspiring doctor. >> i have been involved in an internship at children's hospital for philadelphia for past two years now and department of neurology, it is a lot of clinical research. it is awesome. i love ate lot. >> reporter: olivia is doing it more. but she has one more golf challenge. >> ukee, i'm coming for you. >> olivia has a lot on her plate with golf, music and sciences but she says she's ready for whatever comes her way. at bala golf club i'm pat gallen for "eyewitness news".

ocean slight increase in wave activity, just due to an increase in south swell but west wind coming off the land today. heading to the new jersey shore, delaware beaches, it will warm up quickly. highs there will be in the mid 80's, so no real influence from that chilly ocean water. right now still stuck in the low 60's in the coldest spots, upper 60's in the warm locations further south into delaware. but yesterday we will talk about it at 92 degrees the ocean high temperature and, and it will develop. and, so far, and 10 degrees, and still warm. don't get me wrong. this morning, we are on the humid side. eighty-two allentown, and reading but these temperatures should start to level off. reason is we have a cold front tracking through our region right now. look at the temperature in mount pocono. 68 degrees. still comfortable there front passes further off shore, humidity drops, and with it,

and look at these numbers. michigan, 56 degrees at this hour. sixty-three in minneapolis. that cooler dryer air spills into the delaware valley for the next couple of days. enjoy a nice refreshing air mass. part of the reason is our wind. right now it is out of the west. sustained wind 15 miles an hour that could gust near 30. they will switch out of the northwest bringing in that cooler dryer air from the southern canada. look at the comfort index right now, it doesn't feel the best outside. current dew point temperature tells us moisture contend in the air, is at 65 degrees, and so that is still feeling on the steamy side but later today, these dew points will be dropping in the 50's and even 40's, and so it will feel awesome later on tonight, and for the next couple of days. there is front i was talking about, can't see much on radar and satellite. we have a band of mid to high level cloud. that is it. we are nice a dry to the north and west. pleasant stretch coming the at us, lots of sunshine. good day to hit the pool, maybe your community pool or just in your backyard.

rahel is having a pool parity, everybody is invited, just bring food. make sure you have sun block on. uv index high. gulf street water still well off shore. we have off shore win continuing. that is pushing out warmer surface water in the ocean. that is why the atlantic city surf temperature right now is 63 degrees. ocean city maryland coming in at 65 just off shore. little bit chilly but it will feel good with these temperatures in the 80's to day cold front clears our region later this afternoon. we are left with just high pressure, that blocks us from any storms, from developing. we may have a few clouds from time to time monday and tuesday but noticeably cooler, nice portion of that canadian air mass building in. another reason is the jet stream change. do you see that dip over the north east? that allows that cooler air to spill down and set up shop over the next couple of days. today still on the warm side but less humid this afternoon. eighty-six for the city, even at the shore we will make it in the mid 80's. tonight, breezy, comfortable, cooler, 60 for the it city.

how does it feel? >> same deal, sunshine is out here, in full. it is still muggy. weep talking about lower humidity but it will happies specially later this afternoon. we have a cold front moving through right now and just some clouds down to the south and east. that is the front that is moving through, just coming through dry. hour by hour humidity level should start to drop. it will feel much better tonight and big difference tomorrow morning. you can see cool air trying to move in the mountains. mount pocono 68 degrees. eighty-two allentown. eighty in philadelphia lower 80's at shore. why is the shore this warm. we have an off shore wind over the land. that helps heat the temperatures up along the coast. you do not get that influence off the chilly ocean or 84 in palmyra, new jersey. is there what is left of the cold front. little band of cloud rolling into south jersey and delaware, that is it coming through dry. we will go mostly sunny as high pressure build back in. wind will kick up, westerly wind, ten to 15 miles an hour.

they could gust to near 30 this afternoon but that ushering in that dryer, cooler air mass. still a warm day to day, we are above average. high of 86 degrees in philadelphia. eighty-four at jersey shore. similar in the delaware beach. up in the poconos getting up to 70 degrees, feeling very comfortable. tonight we are dropping down in the 50's and even 40's in the mountains. we will let you know how long that cool down last in the seven day in a few minutes, back to you. >> thank you. philadelphia, to a story we have been following all morning, more than a hundred residents are displaced after fire rips through their apartment building. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live with the latest, cherri, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. i can tell you this is a very, very active scene, fire marshals are here investigating what could have caused this three alarm fire just before 5:00 a.m. this morning. fire commissioner says it took more than one unfire fighters

and nearly three dozen fire and emergency vehicles to get this blaze under control, here at netherland apartment at forty-third and chestnut. you can see blown out windows and some fire damage here on the fourth floor. fire commissioner adam thiel says that the call came in, as i said, just before 5:00 a.m., fire fighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a fourth floor window, of this four story structure, they battled with low visibility, and a partial collapse but we are able to contain the fire to one building, and to one floor. a feat that the fire commissioner says was quite remarkable. >> this was one of the most incredible fire stops i have ever seen. so far we have had no injuries. there are no fatalities. in injuries to our fire fighters. just an incredible job by all of our philadelphia fire department fire fighters, paramedics and our city partners. we have a lot of folks out

here taking care of the approximately 100 displaced building occupants. >> reporter: as you can see part of the building, that was undamaged, you can see peoples belongings through those windows. now that means that there are many residents whose personal belongings were not destroyed. they may have some smoke or water damage but it could have been much worse. approximately 131 residents have been displaced. they have been moved to a shelter, near forty-fourth and sansom street where red cross is currently helping them. i understand that this section of chestnut street from forty-second to forty-fifth street will be closed for the rest of the day as l and i work to make sure that it checks out the structure of this building and as fire marshall continue to investigate what could have caused this three alarm blaze. live from west philadelphia, cherri gregg for kyw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness

news". >> cherri, thank you. now turning to breaking national news, police are reporting approximately, 20 people are dead after a shooting ape hostage situation at an orlando nightclub. police believe 20 people are dead inside the pulse nightclub a club that build is it self as orlando's hottest gay bar. police say they are hesitant to provide firm numbers as the situation is still being assessed. local hospitals are still proceeding. at least 42 patients from the scene. orange county sheriff, described the situation as domestic terrorism. he and other officials say there was no ongoing threat. gunman is said to be among the dead. incident began shortly after 2:00 a.m. when shots rang out. the night club posted on its facebook for everyone to get out and keep running. we will keep you updated on this breaking news as soon as more information becomes available. well, authorities in florida are also, still trying to figure out why a gunman shot and killed a rising star. cristina grimmie a marlton

shore and down into delaware. overall, we will call it a pleasant week ahead. today, still on the warm side. we will above average, mid 80's. eighty-two our average high. tomorrow into tuesday we will take a dip in our temperatures, as they drop below average. we have hide in the 70's. there is something for everybody in this forecast. then by mid week we will have warm backup, again, bringing back some clouds and chance for some showers towards the end of the week. we will talk about that in a bit. as far as humidity goes, yes, on the humid side. but later this have afternoon it will feel more pleasant and certainly tonight and very low humidity for monday and tuesday. we will call it awesome with a very dry air mass in place and then comfortable conditions, continue, pretty much through the rest of the week. storm scan three nice and quiet, full sunshine across the ohio valley, a little bit in the cloud through central and southern delaware, right now south jersey that is cold front moving through. further it moves off shore the more we will have cooler dryer air mass built in the delaware valley.

updating breaking news in florida. police say approximately 20 people are dead including the gun man after a shooting and hostage situation inside the pulse nightclub. the club is known as the hottest gay bar in orlando. shots were fired around 2:00 a.m. and club goers began running. the authorities described the situation as a domestic terrorist incident. many club goers were carried from the scene with gunshot wound. eyewitnesses say at one point officers were loading injured
