crowded pulse club yesterday morning. cbs correspondent kenneth craig with more from orlando. >> good morning it, has been more than 24 hours, since this all unfolded here in orlando, you can see, authorities still have this entire area blocked off as they go through the club room by room trying to identify the dead. >> one by one, the bodies of the victims were hauled away from the pulled night club sunday night. earlier anxious family members sobbed as they learned the fate of their lived ones, omar mateen, aimed are ar15 semiautomatic assault rifle, and handgun, opened fire in the crowded gay club around 2:00 sunday morning. club goer a mid the night club. >> people that were wounded, just to get them out of the way, yes, probably the worse i've ever felt in my entire life.

>> fbi investigating the incident as act of terrorism after mateen went into club bathroom, and called 911, to pledge his allegiance to isis before he started shooting. >> the fbi first became aware of march teen in 2013 he made inflammatory comment to co-workers, alleging possible terrorist ties. >> the fbi looked at him again in 2014, to investigate the potential ties to american suicide bamm err in syria. said closed both investigations because mateen did not pose a threat at the time. >> the bureau of alcohol, tobacco, firearm, says mateen legally bought the guns used in sunday massacre. they interest two firearms, long gun and handgun in the past few days. >> mateen's ex-wife said she left her husband in four days. >> meltly ill. >> re will row least the names of more victims today. >> so far, 21 of the 50 victims have been publicly

together? >> brooke, not even full year. you are about to hear why. so tori says mateen drift from the accomplice officer had a license to car a gun in florida, we now now know he may have legally used to buy guns in the pulled shooting within the last week. she said her heart breaks at this news, and she feels lucky to have escaped their marriage which only lasted four months. she is speaking out about her turbulent marriage to omar mateen. >> three months after we were married i saw his instability, and i saw that he was bipolar, and he started abusing me physically. >> said her new jersey family rescued her from mateen whom she recalls was prone to fit of rage. >> when he would get in his temper he would express hate for things, toward everything. >> early sunday morning, mateen, age 29, was killed in a stand-off with law enforcement, at the orlando club pullets, after cbs news sources say he called 911 pledging allegiance to isis

and used assault style rifle to open fire at crowds inside the gay club. >> they heard it repeated, and everybody dropped to the floor. >> wanted to be a police officer. so he trained with his friends who were police officers, and he had a license to have a gun. >> the fbi revealed he has been on their radar at least twice before in 2013 after his then co-workers report he was linking himself to the tsarnaev brothers who carried out the bombing and then the next year. >> in 2014 mateen again came to the attention of the fbi because of ties to salah, an american suicide bomber. >> both investigations were closed, mateen, u.s. citizen, was born to afghan parents. he made his home in port st. lucie, florida, more than 120 miles south of orlando, at his fort pierce mosque: >> we don't know what was in his mind. >> and at mateen's mosque

florida dozens of bodies are slowly being removed from the pulse night club still right now. authority say 29 year old omar mateen armed with a assault rifle and a handgun opened fire in the crowd yesterday morning early. mateen was shot dead by swat officers. and, as we learn more about the victims in the night club shooting many family, friends of the victims are still wait to go get the status of their loved ones. at 10:00 a.m. authorities will hold their next briefing to let family and friends know who they have identified so far. now, one woman, whose son died in the attack, says her son texted her from inside the club. >> he text me at 2:00 on and said mommy i love you. in the club they are shooting. that will was at 2:06. trapped in the bathroom downtown. police call police. i'm going to die. >> just unthinkable. friends and family will gather at a hotel about a mile away from the shooting for that briefing later this morning.

>> i think premature to speculate without knowing the person. but obviously, what we have seen in terms of patterns of gun violence, and terrorism is that correct there is a lot of hatred. and part of what we're trying to understand as the new un fowl, what would make someone commit act of such hatred. >> we know we've been through this too often, sandy hook, san bernardino, now orlando, what are these mass shootings doing to the psyche of american people? >> i think the first thing that happens when act of any kind of violence is that people instincts for safety get triggered, a lot of feelings of fear, pain, lost, one of the things that's most difficult about an act like this is that it is something that everyone can relate to. it triggers core feelings, important to seek out people who you are close to, who you can talk to, get some support from. >> many people who identify as lgbt have been targeted as

hate crimes. do you think it are mother more or less tolerance than people based on their sexual orientation. >> it is hard to know, but one of the things that we really have seen is that personal relationships are one of the best ways of overcoming hatred and intolerance, and i think that one of the areas of possible hope that comes from action like there is real a opportunity for people to come closer, and to form more personal relationships where they can get to know one another, bridge the barriers to tolerance. >> i know it is important what the gunman was thinking, but why not focus more on the victims, and in the people who are left in the aftermath? one of the first things that came to my mine, as well, evolution, in terms of how we look at act of violence, and starting to really troy to understanded, you know, how are the people who are
