12:20 pm
i guess could you say beach spots outside beach patrol headquarters in margate. you have nothing but clear, blue skies however. that will linger the rest of the day, so great weather to hit the shore, or do anything you desire outside here throughout the day. expecting throughout the sunshine, though, of the day, that you will still have that breeze to contends w so storm scan may be empty but here you have it, out of the northwest breeze is still blowing upward of 15 plus miles per hour, even couple of choice spots like mount pocono where you are clocking in at 21 miles per hour, but, it is three out of the for on the checklist for practically perfect here today with the low humidity, warmth and sunshine, it is a very nice afternoon. >> can't check off the light wind however, but it does mean that you will see some tweaks to the health report here, very high uv index, not terrible in terms of any kinds of heat index values today. don't have to worry too much about. that will but we will eventually see the humidity creep up on us in the days ahead, that comes courtesy of the next approaching cold front or system in general. seventy the current temperature at the airport, should easily tack another 8 degrees onto that for
12:21 pm
daytime high. so 78 in the sunshine, the expectation, we look ahead to tuesday, up to 08 degrees, eight an on wednesday, and we are going to start to see our next system move in come thursday specifically. so some showers, thunderstorm, likely in the forecast at that point. friday, still lingering with some showers in the morning, and then we should start to see those clouds break for some sunshine as the day progresses, so, tail ends of the week where things go little downhill. we should clear out nicely at this point it looks like for pretty nice fathers day weekends. >> you will always have a job! >> but it is ever changing, right? >> exactly, always, thanks, katie. >> well, today is a big day for septa, as it rolls out the new reloadable septa key cards. have you heard about these? first 10,000 cards were made available this morning, now some of the early doctors posted for pictures, this so the key card can be reloaded on kiosk, on phone, over the
12:22 pm
phone, accepts cash, credit cards, or tokens. >> very cool program. >> it is 12:22, i understanded we have a cbs news special report. >> we are going to head over to cbs news special report, with cbs news anchor jeff gore. >> with a cbs news special report. i'm jeff at cbs news headquarters in new york. good day. the director of the f.b.i. james comey is going to be join by deputy attorney general sally yates at f.b.i. headquarters in washington. overnight the last of the bodies removed from the pulse nightclub in orlando where omar mateen opened fire early sunday morning. he used an assault rifle. pulse is a gay club and was holding a latin night.
12:23 pm
police revised the death toll down one to 49. 53 others were wounded, many of them remain in critical condition. mateen was killed in a shoot-out with police. earlier today director comey and other national security officials briefed president obama in the oval office. afterward the president said there was no evidence the attack was part of a larger terror plot directed by anyone else. he said it appears mateen was inspired by extremist information on the internet. jeff pegues is in our washington bureau right now with more on all of this. >> reporter: jeff, we expect the f.b.i. director to talk more about the contacts the f.b.i. had with mateen. we know now this is something we've been reporting over the last 24 hours that there were two contact, two inquiries into his activities in 2013 and 2014. so we expect to get questions to the f.b.i. director about those contacts, the extent of them and why they weren't followed up
12:24 pm
upon allowing him before the attack to purchase weapons. >> glor: jeff, we're also learning more about mateen's travel as we watch the director of f.b.i. step in. let's take a listen. >> . >> all right good afternoon everybody, thank you all for being here today. we're here to discuss the justice department's response to this stunning and unconscionable acts in orlando. our hearts are broken for the unif fathomable losses the people have suffered and our thoughts and prayers continue to be with their families and loved ones. the full resources of the department of justice, which includes the f.b.i. and a.t.f.,
12:25 pm
the national security division as well as the u.s. attorney's office and the middle district of georgia are all supporting the ongoing investigation. our agents and investigate verse been on the ground working around the clock since yesterday, and they'll continue to do so in the days ahead. i want the thank our law enforcement colleagues in florida for their tireless and extraordinary work so far and their dedication to the ongoing investigation. i've also been in contact with the attorney general, who is currently on her way back from china. and continues to monitor developments in the case. words really can't express the depth of our sorrow or the measure of our grief for losses that have been suffered by those and lives that have been changed forever. what happened in orlando yesterday was a horrifying act, a horrifying act of evil and terror. for the l.g.b.t. community, pulse was more than just a place
12:26 pm
to go and celebrate and see friends. it was a place that promised incollusion and freedom to be themselves, the same promise that our country holds for everyone. this was an a tack on that promise. it was an attack on our values as a country an our national community. it was an take as who we are as nation and as a people. and our country as a whole stands united in response to this cowardly and despicable act. so with this i'll turn things over to director comey, who will provide some additional details on where we are in the investigation right now. thank you, sally. our hearts are broken and ache for the people who were lost in orlando, those wounded and their families. we are so sorry for your loss and your suffering. i also want to say a word of thanks and express admiration for the work of local law
12:27 pm
enforcement in orlando. they showed professionalism and extraordinary bravery that saved lives. we are very lucky that such good people choose lives of sure voice in law enforcement. last i want to say a considered of thanks to the people who rendered care that saved lives at the scene, the docs, the e.m.t.s, the nurses, the victim specialists and the ordinary citizens who stopped to help family and friends. you showed us the best part of humanity in the midst of terrible loss. as you know this is a federal terrorism investigation led by the f.b.i. with the assistance, as we always do, of our state, local and federal partners. there are strong indications of radicalization by this killer and of potential understand pration by foreign terrorist organizations. we are spending a tremendous amount of time, as you would imagine, trying to understand every moment of this killer's path to that terrible night in orlando, to understand his
12:28 pm
motives and to understand the details of his life. you will notice that i'm not using the killer's name andly try not to do that. part of what motivates sick people to do this kind of thing is some twisted notion of fame or glory, and i don't want to be part of that for the sake of the victims and their families. and so that other twisted minds don't think that this is a path to fame and recognition. so i want to give you a sense of what we know so far and then tell you as much as i can about our past contact with the killer. we are going through the killer's life as i said, especially his electronics, to understand as much as we can about his path and whether there was anyone else involved, either in directing him or in assisting him. so far we see no indication that this was a plot directed from outside the united states, and we see no indication that he was part of any kind of network. it is also not entirely clear at this point just what terrorist group he aspired to support,
12:29 pm
although he made clear his afenty at the time of the attack for isil and generally leading up to the attack for radical islamist groups. he made 911 calls from the club during the attack at about 2:30 a.m. sunday morning. there were three different calls. he called and he hung up. he called again and spoke briefly with the dispatcher. and then he hung up. and then the dispatcher called him back again, and they spoke briefly. so there were three total calls. during the calls, he said he was doing this for the leader of isil, who he named and pledged loyalty to, but he also appeared to claim solidarity with the perpetrateors of the boston marathon bombing and solidarity with a florida man who died as a suicide bomber in syria for al-nusra, a group in conflict with the so-called islamic state. the bombers at the boston marathon and the suicide bomber
12:30 pm
from florida were not inspired by isil, which adds a little bit to the confusion about his motives. of course, we're working to understand what role anti-gay bigotry may have played in motivating this attack. again, it's early. we're working hard to understand the killer and his motives and his sources of inspiration, but we're highly confident that this killer was radicalized and at least in some part through the internet. so that's what we've been doing. now let me tell you what i can about the f.b.i.'s prior contact with the killer. we first became aware of him in may of 2013. he was working as a contract security guard at a local courthouse. and he made some statements that were inflammatory and contradictory that concerned his coworkers about terrorism.
