school graduate who unfortunately was in that night club that night and did not make it. >> reporter: yes, she did not. i spoke with albert murray who confirmed that his 18 year-old daughter akyra murray was shot and killed at pulse nightclub, the entire family, was in orlando on, and, and that devastating news. >> reporter: albert murray says his daughter akyra was celebrating her recent graduation from west catholic prep high school. and begged to go to pulse nightclub with her cousin and friends. he told kyw news radio via phone that hours after dropping her off he got a horrific phone call. >> she was screaming saying daddy, i'm bleeding. i have been shot. come get me. we were on the expressway about 30 minutes away. we were on the road, rushing. i was doing about 90, 100. cops must be going to the scene in that area from different counties. we pretty much followed the cop down. so, we got there, 30, 35,

520 minutes. >> reporter: he said he never saw akyra alive again. akyra was a star athlete here at west catholic prep, she just celebrated a full scholarship to mercyhurst college two weeks ago. >> akyra was the thousand point scorer, she just recently just last week at graduation she was given our top scholar athlete for both girls and girls. so she was the best that we had to offer in the classroom and on the playing field. she was a true ambassador of the school. >> reporter: west catholic vice-president paul says the tight west catholic community is grieving the loss, one of their best, true leader on the basketball court and in the classroom, and the students are shocked and devastated. >> there are first priority is to make sure that our students are able to grasp this and help them mourn through this. >> reporter: for the family, they too are grieving. >> i have cried so much i

can't cry no more. >> i was told that students began arriving at west catholic this morning after they got word that akyra was missing and now, of course, word that she was killed. the school is planning a vigil to honor akyra murray's memory june 15th and we will share details as they are released. >> it is just so hard to hear from that father. now cherri, she was also with friend that night what do you know about her friends. >> reporter: can tell you one of the victims who was shot is akyra's cousin, and their friend, who has already been identified 20 year-old patients carter, the dad says, that he planned to visit them at the hospital, of course, patients is 20 years old nyu student who is from philadelphia she was shot a couple of times. the dad says that both patients and as well as tea era are expect to be okay, that is the only piece of good news here, of course, the entire community is thinking about akyra. >> absolutely, broken hearts.

>> entire community and entire nation, cherri, thanks very much. tragic nightclub shooting remains an active crime scene tonight and remains a day to come. >> greg argos is live in orlando with what we know about the investigation, greg. >> reporter: jessica and rahel, good afternoon from orlando here. this investigation will be a very long one. like you mentioned club pulse there are federal, state, local officials inside. this was a massive crime scene as you can imagine, 49 people, 50 if you include the shooter. this afternoon we also learn from the fbi, the head of the fbi that the shooter omar mateen, may have become self radicalized. as you can imagine this investigation will span weeks if not into months. omar mateen the man behind this deadliest mass shooting in u.s. history is now center of a massive federal investigation. >> the one thing that we can say is that this is being

treated as a terrorist investigation. it appears that the shooter was i been expired by various extremist information that was disseminated over the interest net. all of those materials are currently being searched, exploited, so we will have a better sense of the pathway that the killer took in making a decision to launch this attack. >> reporter: those that lived through this attack are still processing what happened. >> i heard bang, bang. >> reporter: poem like christopher hanson, new to orlando and club pulse for the first time and witnessed to the killing that took 49 lives. >> you hear gunshots that are not part of the music when you think our music. it is like you look over and see bodies dropping, people screaming, blood every where, guy next to me shot, i dropped

down, i crawled out to the back and all i know i just had to stay down and stay low and once i felt the cement and patio i knew i was outside. >> reporter: others like michael hoffman from philadelphia are also counting their blessing. >> we left about 12, something told me get out of here, something is about to happen. god probably sent a message down from heaven and said just get out of this club. >> reporter: praying for men and women senselessly murdered. >> it is really devastating. it is heart breaking for the community. i pray for their families. >> reporter: as this meticulous federal investigation continues into the days and weeks ahead the community here in orlando is looking forward, trying to come together, and in fact tonight at 7:00 o'clock just a mile and a half from club pulse where 49 necessary event victims lost their lives, thousands will gather for a candle light vigil. we will have coverage at ten and 11:00. we are live in orlando, i'm greg argos for cbs-3

"eyewitness news". as officials continue to look into the background of the shooter, americans are remind todd remain vigilant when it comes to home grown terrorism. "eyewitness news" report are cleve bryan joins us live from new jersey's home land security headquarters in, hamilton township, with more on the response. >> reporter: we lost our shot? >> it is going to happen. it just has to be aware. >> reporter: threat of terror is meant to interrupt and infuse our lives with fear but yet time and again, we're reminded to be on alert. >> i would like to believe i'm vigilant and keeping and eye out on things and watch over my shoulder a little bit more. since 9/11 actually. >> reporter: since november 2015 terror attacks state of new jersey increased efforts to teach people about home grown violent streamism. >> we are constantly trying to connect dots to make sure nothing slips through crack. >> reporter: this pamphlet describes eight every day signs of terrorism we can

watch out for in our community. they include unusual surveillance, solicitation of the sensitive information, and tests of security, acquiring supplies for weapons and supplies, people of suspicious situations, dry runs, deploying assets, and suspicious ways have of gathering money to fun terrorism. >> we don't profile people but we profile behaviors. those behaviors that can trigger someone's reports of suspicious activity to their local police department or to the state. >> reporter: new jersey's office of home land security analyzed thousands of pieces of tore about domestic terror each day and police hand out 20 arrests of home grown violent empty streak i am in new york, new jersey and pennsylvania. >> what we saw in orlando is our adversaries only have to be successful ones, where as, we have to be successful 100 percent of the time. >> reporter: new jersey home land security officials say they have experts that can come out tour business, or your organization, and give so tips about security, and also what to do in the event of an active shooter.

in hamilton township i'm cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> cleve, thank you. philadelphia's mayor jim kenney says more need to be done to prevent the gun violence that has touched, far too many communities in our nation. >> violence is your retrievable and once it happens, lives change forever, and people never come back, and families are never the same, and communities are never the same, and violence and gun violence is just act any of this country. >> stay with "cbs evening news" for updates on the investigation into the orlando nightclub shooting, scott pelley is anchoring live from orlando tonight and we will have the latest at 6:30 right after we sign off on "eyewitness news". a bomb threat at temple's liacouras certainty interrupt olney high school graduation ceremony today. police received a 911 call around 3:00 p.m. and that call are report there had was a bomb at the site. building was evacuated and graduation abruptly ended. police believe they have a possible suspect but they are not releasing any names. still to come on

tonight philadelphia remembers the victims in the orlando shooting with a vigil. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do joins us live at city hall with more on that, trang. >> well, jessica, 200 people have gathered here across the street over at city hall. lets take a look the at this vigil. you can see some people with homemade signs, waving flags, also some faith leaders have already arrived. the vigil is happening right by those flags you see including the rainbow lgbt pride flag. governor wolf announced flags be held at half staff and they will remain that way until thursday at sundown. mayor kenney called this vigil to bring community together while he took part in philly pride festivities yesterday. we have since learn three of the people killed are from philadelphia and at least one of the injured is also from philadelphia, and now this

vigil is expect to be pretty well attended with more than 2600 people, responding, and going to a facebook invite. now organizers are asking people if they can to bring candles as well as lighters. they are also asking people to bring homemade signs. this vigil will kick off at 6:30 with mayor kenney arriving here at 6:45. for now we are live outside city hall i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> trang, thank you. our country continues to mourn another tragedy that took place over the weekend, also in orlando. new jersey native cristina grimmie was shot and killed signing autographs after a concert. >> "eyewitness news" reporter vittoria woodill has more on the way she's being remembered in her home town tonight, torey? >> reporter: that is right, at a time like this all over the country we're trying to figure out so many questions, and why? why being the biggest question, but, the communities in new jersey, communities that were closest to cristina at some point are really

at 8:45 behind me at memorial sports complex in evesham township of marlton, new jersey, and, the community is coming together, all to support something that really is touching all of our hearts and that is loss, everybody experience is it differently but one thing still remains the same, it is that it hurts but we can only come tomorrow to help each other get through it? vittoria, thanks very much. philadelphia police have identified a university of delaware student as the man suspect of throwing a beer bottle at phillies first base man ryan hour. >> twenty-one year-old sidney smith of wilmington surrendered over the june 4th incident. he was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and scheduled to appear before a judge tomorrow. summary offence could result in the fine of up to $300. keep saying it is nice weekend, hot and humid. it is just so nice to have the sun out. >> agreed. >> even though we had the wind, we had humidity, storms mainly stayed away on saturday.

here and there tonight. otherwise cloud clear to the south, tomorrow morning, and we are looking at another beautiful day for your tuesday. and temperatures right now feeling pretty fantastic. seventy-six in philadelphia. seventy-one in allentown. keep in mind we hit 90 yesterday. today a marked difference, humidity dropped yesterday afternoon with those strong wind of change, and today much cooler, 73 in trenton. seventy-six is if you are in atlantic city. lets talk about the dew point is so important this time of the year. we saw them rise on saturday to the upper 60's to near 7o dew points were high yesterday morning and dropped as win pick up yesterday afternoon. dew point is 47, that measure how much moisture is in the air, we are talking about temperatures in the 70's and dew points in the 40's there is no other word to describe that besides awesome. we are in the awesomeangege but it will creep backup later this week as the system heads our way. tomorrow is great. this system starts to approach wednesday. we will see increase in clouds in the afternoon but then storms overhead on thursday,

showers, thunderstorms, and on and off rain and drizzle, and that could move off companies and try to come back off the coast over the weekend, definitely not set in extend but something to watch down the shore. overnight patchy cloud, passing sprinkle 61 degrees your low. for your tuesday mostly sunny low humidity, beautiful day tomorrow and your shore three day forecast down the shore this week here's what to expect. mostly sunny on your tuesday, 78 degrees, expect sea breeze in the afternoon. wednesday sunshine late day included and then thursday looks like a bit of the wash out. that is day to do those shore inside activities the, cape may county zoo, stay protect there it it is not completely indoors but those rainy day shore activities. there is dayay per week. friday starts off with showers, showers, move out for much of the day. and try to clear it out in the city in the afternoon. weekend lo great, fathers day weekend, lower 80's with sunshine and potential off the coast, that would be for sunday down the shore but that is still far way that we can
