fun but will now leave in deep sorrow. >> i just can't imagine what they are going through right now. >> reporter: reporting from orlando at world disney world resort i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> here at home we are following a developing story. >> an explosion rattles south philadelphia neighborhood, "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in grays ferry with the details of the source of the blast, trang. >> reporter: natasha christian street is still block off but the situation is under control, take a lot the fire department is packing up to move out but definitely scary moments, they were told to shelter in place right after the explosion. it happened just after 3:15 at the viola steam plant which provides steam to the city. fortunately all employees are accounted for but one employee did suffer a minor injury and treated at the scene. fire department says that a safety system on a boiler blew out breaking a window and injuring that employee. now, many people, reporting hearing a loud explosion, that shook their entire homes and

public's help, reporting kerry cod from our sister station w for has the latest from orlando. >> reporter: federal agents made clear their focus is to try to uncover all of the information that they can about the movement and motives of omar mateen in the days, weeks, and months, leading up to this shooting. fbi is building their case against omar mateen the man who murdered 49 people inside pulse nightclub early sunday morning. investigators are focused on tracking him through social media, cell phone tracking, surveillance video and interviews with anyone who knew about his activities leading to the shooting. federal put out a flier wednesday asking people with information to come forward. >> regardless of how small that information may be, i still want to hear bit. >> reporter: fbi tweeted this picture wednesday of evidence recovery team outside pulse nightclub, investigators continue to scour the crime scene studying all elements of the shooting as they reconstruct what happened. at a news conference there was no talk of the motive even though he pledged allegiance

to ice is in a call to 911. >> this was an act of violence born out of hate that inflicted terror in an entire community. >> i would call it a hate crime, would i call it terrorism. >> reporter: we heard from orlando police chief who spoke of the swat team members who risked their lives to save people the at the club. >> they stood toe to toe, face-to-face with the mass murderer and performed heroically and courageously. >> reporter: others reminded residents of the importance of speaking up if they see something suspicious or have knowledge of someone who might carry out an attack. >> i think we have all seen by what we have learned so far that if more people would have said something sooner, it is just possible it could have been prevented. >> reporter: fbi refused to discuss specific into their investigation and anyone who might have helped him. they will only say. >> at the end of all of our interviews if someone is able to be charged in this investigation, we will bring them to justice. >> reporter: fbi at this point there is no information showing that mateen intended to strike anywhere other than

the pulse nightclub. they also made it clear that there is no credible information of any other threat directed toward this area or against the country as a whole. in orlando, kerry cod for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". there are several tributes to the orlando shooting victim, around our area, tonight, ben franklin bridge will be lit in rainbow colors beginning tonight through saturday. delaware county vigil start at 5:30 this evening, people will gather in front of the delaware county courthouse in media and they will read the names of the 49 victims, they will be pushing for tighter gun control laws. is there also a candle light remembrance at intersection of the state and main street in doylestown. the organizers say that you should bring a candle and friend it starts at 8:00 tonight. following the shooting many lined up to donate blood for victims and current federal regulations ban gay and by sexual men from donating blood if they have had sex with another man in the past year. many are not happen bye that

well, welcome back everyone. incredible video and we do want to warn you some may find it disturbing. >> a driver suffered burns to his body after his car burst into flames at a gas station. this is a surveillance video showing that explosion, and the driver's clothes catching fire. he rolled on to the ground to put out those flames, but still suffered burns over 30 percent of his bod. investigators traced the cause from vapors from a gasoline can inside that car. tonight a little girl is recover covering after a shark bite on a galveston beach in texas. it happened yesterday afternoon, he and her father and brother were in knee deep water whether her father heard her scream. >> he looked over and saw the white under belly of a shark, it was about the same size of her three, to 4 feet.

and most of the day has been beautiful. you felt humidity possibly rise through the day, dew point still not bad, still in the 50's and lower 60's but definitely more humid then past few days have been. nice day on the beach down in margate you can see on our live neighborhood network folks on the beach there and still blue sky in kutztown as well although cloud are beginning to roll role in and looking a little overcast, is there middletown ship high school in cape may courthouse. you can see why batch moved in and a few showers moved in. showers lining autopsy long a boundary and they are south and west through the day. you can see a few syringe also moving into portions of cape may county from strathmere, down through wildwood, cape may courthouse, stone harbor and cape may a stray shower here or there missing vittoria in brigantine. that is good news. as we widen out there is more wet weather on the way this first band moving out but look at the rain down here over portions of west virginia thinks all moving in as we head through overnight hours and it will be on and off rain

overnight especially in the first half of the day tomorrow before finally trying to clear out later tomorrow evening. in the meantime you can see where areas are that have been seeing more cloud ape showers. only in the lower 70's in wildwood and millville. look at allentown 83 degrees there. eighty-one in trenton. seventy-seven in philadelphia. timing this out on future weather cloud roll in overnight and heaviest rain is kiss patched moving from the west. rain and possibly thunder. this is at 4:00 a.m. portions of delaware earnings south jersey and city of philadelphia it continues into your thursday morning and then just scattered showers through the early afternoon hours here at 10:00 a.m. worst in the morning but still showers around, right through the afternoon before we finally see things try to clear out, late thursday afternoon and our next system should mainly miss us to the south on friday. what to expect for your thursday? lots of cloud, higher humidity, scattered showers and that chance for thunderstorm. if we hear thunder overnight maybe best chance for. that forecast highs for tomorrow much cooler down the shore and in delaware as we

>> reporter: authorities say whom ever shot the cat with an arrow could face fines or jail time and family of the pet, tell me that they want this person caught and weapon taken away. >> she's a fighter. >> reporter: it is a miracle that this cat is stale live. saturday morning 19 year-old taylor found the cat, nicknamed b with an arrow lodged through her torso. >> i start freaking out, she's bleeding, i didn't know what to do. >> reporter: animal control responded to their home, and they cut part of the arrow so wow fit in the carrying cage and they rush her to the mount laurel animal hospital. >> on the way there i was like crying, i was like my god she will not make it. >> reporter: before removing the arrow chris torey took these x-rays. >> went in under his scapula under his shoulder blade and came out his arm pet. >> reporter: it missed his chest cart and didn't hit any arteries. >> were you surprised the cat survived. >> to be honest i think a cat served very well and it could have ended differently if we were a couple million meeters

ounce, gas tax, that more than doubles the current tax on gas in the garden state. opponents say that it will cost the state money, in the long run. >> many of us that live on the border as i do, my district, goes up and down the delaware river, guess where all of the people from pennsylvania fill up for gas? they fill up in new jersey. when our taxis raised there is no reason to fill up in new jersey anymore. >> legislation is the latest in a long running conversation between governor chris christie and the democratic led legislature over how to replenish the state's nearly empty transportation trust fund. also tomorrow city council is scheduled to vote on a 1.5 cents per ounce tax on sugary and diet drinks. if approved philadelphia would be the first major city in the u.s. to have a tax on soda. mayor kenney says that the money collect from the tax will go directly to funding prek education, those opposed argue a big chunk of this money will go other places.

broken but he is widely considered one of the greatest hockey players to ever play the game. wayne gretzky the all time point leader recently called howe the greatest of all time. his son mark also a hall of famer spent ten seasons with the philadelphia flyers. lanes are now back opened after a truck crashed and caught fire on the new jersey turnpike. chopper three over the scene just before 11:00 this morning. northbound lanes south of exit 7a and i-95 were shut down earlier as crews cleaned up that mess. one person did suffer a minor injury, no word on what caused that crash. also one person is in the hospital tonight after driving off a cliff in california. this crash happened this morning in southern los angeles. rescue crews had to climb down that cliff to get the driver. it is unclear what the person's status is right now and cause remains under investigation. wawa welcome america festival, the eight day event

i ran into a couple showers earlier today. >> did you. >> yes. >> no big deal. >> no big deal. it depend where you are, to the north, sunny and warm. to the the south drizzly at times but tomorrow everybody gets in on that action. we have got some showers moving in through the day tomorrow, heaviest may be overnight tonight. so lets start off with a peak, outside and take a look at how it is looking in the city,tive rent from just a few hours ago. the sun was shining, we have blue skies but the cloud, as promised, have been moving in all day long and that is bringing the arrival of the next weather maker a system bringing showers to the area, tonight into tomorrow. there have been a few showers as well, with this line of cloud that have pushed in, this afternoon. take a look here on storm scan three and you can see not a whole lot here but we have a few scattered showers right now over portions of cape may and atlantic counties from atlantic city down toward strathmere traffic on the garden state parkway here. you can see showers lining up,

>> right now on "eyewitness news" at 6:00 a south philadelphia neighborhood is shaken by a huge blast, at a nearby processing plant. good evening everyone i'm jessica dean. >> i'm natasha brown in for ukee. the explosion shattered windows on the 2600 block of christian street in grays ferry. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is at the scene tonight and spoke with some really rattled neighbors, trang. >> reporter: natasha, everybody here is pretty much back to normal at christian street and grays ferry after that scary explosion that had neighbors still shaken up and a few still cleaning up damage. tom walsh came home to find his front window shattered. living across from the steam plant in grays ferry it is event like that there is always a fear. >> you have to get home, explosion at a power plant and something that we actually worry about because it is all kind of strange noises that

come out of that power plant at times and fire trucks pull up and leave after zero minutes. so, this was, this was a real event, this time. >> reporter: just after 3:00 15a safety system boiler blew out at the plant. blast broke a window in the building and injured an employee treated on the scene. fire department says that one woman was hurt by glass shattering in her home, she was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. >> the explosion was so loud. i thought my chest was just, my heart was just being so hard. it was very frightening. >> reporter: fire fighters checked homes in the immediate area for gas and carbon monoxide and then gave all clear but welch says concerns remain. >> it would be nice if the folks at the power plant would let us know when there are these strange, loud noise that is shake our house, which happen monthly and we never know what is actually happening. >> reporter: in a statement they say they will conduct a full investi
