weekend. woe will start with traffic. >> that's okay, i'll tell you why, it is friday, but i don't have great news in the worlds of traffic. we do have a hit-and-run hang right by us, two kids involved, one in critical condition. an update coming up in just a moment. >> that's tough to hear n terms of the weather at least things are starting to dry out. do have little activity on the radar, we'll get right to it, primarily to the southwest, scattered, still the same system brought in the rain yesterday. now it is the area of low pressure starting to row treat. you see it we zoom it out one time, the bulk of the heavy rain is removed off to the south and west here. so there likely still and shower around across portions of the southwestern region, delaware, south jersey, talking to you, look at the dew point, the moisture content in the air, lower this value gets, drier the air mass, so still tad muggy in dover, for example, but we are starting to not only clear out the sky but also clear out the worse of the moisture. so it will start to feel more and more comfortable with time. fifty-six the temperature at

overturned vehicle. traffic right now, being diverted onto bristol pike. so a lot of activity going on right here. you can see where traffic social security diverted again being diverted on bristol pike, woodhaven road eastbound all lanes eastbound are blocked right now, and the vine, still closed for overnight construction, brooke, over to you. >> thanks, meisha a breaking news again meisha just telling you about, two teens hurt after hit-and-run in philadelphia's spring garden section. one of them is fighting for his life at this hour. let's get to the scene at broad and wallace, and "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch. justin? >> nicole, brooke, two boys hurt, both 16 years old, taken to hahnemann just few blocks south every us here, one in stable condition with a broken leg, the other is extremely critical condition suffering from severe head trauma. let's take you now to video from overnight. now, here's a look at what police are calling the striking vehicle, a 2,000 model red lexus held by police off ridge avenue. male driver taken by police for breathalyzer, female

passenger now talking to accident investigators. about 2:00 a.m., police say, that lexus was traveling at a high rate of speed north on broad near wallace street, about that same time, five boys on four bikes were heading south in those same lanes. 216 year old boys were on the bikes, that's the one the lexus driver struck and just kept going. on alert did go out. six district officers stopped that lexus, that left ridge ride area parking lot, again, this is yet another hit-and-run in the city, and police are asking drivers to follow the law and of course use caution. >> people have to understand, if you hit somebody, whether you hurt them real bad, or there are minor injuries, if you stop and render aid, it is just an auto accident. but in this situation, there is a good chance the person left the scene because when we found them he appeared to be intoxicated. >> of course that driver now is taking a breathalyzer with

police at eighth and race, looking live now at this accident investigation, scene on the 600 block of north broad here. that bike is the bike the two boys are on, we are told the impact of this crash was so strong it ripped off the front tire and launched it some 50 feet. now, again, both teens are recovering at this hour. one is in extremely critical condition with severe head trauma. the other has a broken leg, both are at hahnemann. police say once the investigation wraps up here, that broad will reopen. live here on north broad. justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", nicole, brooke, back into you. >> thanks a lot, justin. >> hearing about this all too often. in fact, last night candlelight vigil for hit-and-run victim on the roosevelt boulevard. friends and family paid tribute to mikhail a jackson, coming the boulevard near adams avenue late monday night when she was struck and killed, police still looking for the driver, but it shows silver mini-van involved in the crash, early 2,000 chevy

model venture, showed heavy front ends damage and shattered windshield. >> jury deliberations entered third day today, chaka fattah federal racketeering trial. jurors only spent four hours deliberating, sent attorneys into the judge's chambers. jury dismissed for the day and told to return deliberations this morning. accused of arranging $1 million campaign loan then paying back part of it with federal grant money and charitable donations, he denies the charges. >> in a historic vote, philadelphia is the first major american city to tax sugary drinks. after months of debate, city council gave final approval to one and a half sent per ounce tax on sugary and diet drinks. the tax is expected to pour in close to $100 million annually, and mayor kenney says the mondayly fund universal pre k, parks, libraries, not all in favor of the new tax. >> this is the first step in finding the resources and revenue that we need to get our kids pre k education.

>> do you really believe this was all about the kids? >> the mayor plans to sign the bill monday but it won't take effect until january. critics call the new tax unconstitutional, and are expected to challenge the law in court. >> grammy winning singer meatloaf is in a canadian hospital after collapsing during a concert in edmonton. the 68 year old singer was motionless on stage as the crowd realized it is not part of his act. meatloaf recently canceled shows because of undisclosed illness. his reps say he is stable right now at a hospital. of course we will bring you more information on his condition as we learn more. >> well, today friends and family will say good-bye to slain singer christina grimmie, memorial service will take place at 8:00 tonight. the 22 year old evesham township native died last fright. grimmie just finish up a show and shot and killed while

signing autographs. >> more details emerge being the massacre in orlando, investigators say, omar mateen called 911, a television station, and a friend, during the attack. also, they say he exchanged text messages with his wife asking her if she saw the news, she texted back that she loved him. orlando mayor buddy said mateen led hostages to believe he had four bomb vests that he would make them wear. meantime, gun shop owner said mateen tried to buy body armor from his store, turned away by employees who then called the fbi. >> in the wake of the massacre, congress is set to take up a vote on new gun control legislation next week. democratic senator chris murphy led nearly 15 hour filibuster pushing for vote on two amendments, the first would block those on terror watch lists from buying guns, the second expands backgrounds checks. >> republicans had their own measure to block begin purchases by potential terrorists but it would require additional action by the courts, fan an extra step

burst into flames. pull dudley mccoy from the truck, he now faces several charges. >> this morning, officials with disney world say they're adding alligator warning signs around a lake where nebraska toddler was killed. the boy's family is also speaking. the family released this statement that reads words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. we are devastated and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time. to all of the local authorities and staff who work tirelessly these past 24 hours, we express our deepest gratitude. two year old lane graves was dragged into the lake by an alligator as he waded in shallow water at the grand floridian resort. autopsy reveals the child died as drawing and traumatic injury. no swimming signs were posted at the resort, but no warnings about alligators. >> well, 1400 acres are burning right now, in santa barbara, california, officials say it is only going to get worse. these massive flames, they

traveled from the mountains to the freeway destroying basically everything in it path. hundreds of residents are now evacuated, high winds are fueling that fire across dry areas of the brush. in fact, it is at 0 percent containment. temperatures could hit 100 degrees this weekend making this fight that much more difficult. not a good situation, unfortunately. >> 4:44, katie is here with another check on your forecast, katy? >> so tough whether it comes to the fire fights. weather plays such critical role for the firefighters. thoughts and prayers for the families out there dealing with that situation. on our coast, things are a little bit different. we are really looking at some very, very pleasant weather, as we approach the weekend, and it is perfect timing. not just for the weekend but also fathers day. take a look what's happening here, system brought in the rain yesterday. that continues to make its retreat. see how it is moving off to the south, counter clockwise rotation, as it moves away, it is still leaving with us some residual showers, overall,

for a friday i'll say we're starting off with a bang here in traffic. yes, talking about that hit-and-run, also, an accident on woodhaven, couple of more coming up on the pa turnpike, so all of the updates coming up. >> difficult news. at least in terms of weather, transitioning away from the wet weather. still wet weather to dodge, but not going have the heavy rain pocket like we did have yesterday about this same time. although, on the radar at the moment, the main action is primarily remove off to the south. but, you know, still going to find some damp roadways out there, locally some of this rain coming down moderately, basically, as soon as my name gets out of the way i'll show it to you. thanks, guys, in the control room. right here over dover, steadiest rain moving on through here, but generally speaking, spotty, spotty showers what we are facing here as the system continues to dive southeast. so this is really the worse of it, much like we had yesterday, worse happened in the morning, at this point, our worse is really just some residual showers through the southern tear of our area. but anyone's fair game to see left o
