for a friday i'll say we're starting off with a bang here in traffic. yes, talking about that hit-and-run, also, an accident on woodhaven, couple of more coming up on the pa turnpike, so all of the updates coming up. >> difficult news. at least in terms of weather, transitioning away from the wet weather. still wet weather to dodge, but not going have the heavy rain pocket like we did have yesterday about this same time. although, on the radar at the moment, the main action is primarily remove off to the south. but, you know, still going to find some damp roadways out there, locally some of this rain coming down moderately, basically, as soon as my name gets out of the way i'll show it to you. thanks, guys, in the control room. right here over dover, steadiest rain moving on through here, but generally speaking, spotty, spotty showers what we are facing here as the system continues to dive southeast. so this is really the worse of it, much like we had yesterday, worse happened in the morning, at this point, our worse is really just some residual showers through the southern tear of our area. but anyone's fair game to see left over at some point today. that said i don't think you

understand that you will be diverted onto bristol pike if you are taking woodhaven road in the eastbound direction. all lanes as you can see are blocked right now. also, we have been talking about hit-and-run that happened little earlier two, kids on bike, one in critical condition. so the accident happened at broad and wallace. >> this camera showing you broad street at spring garden and it is closed, between spring garden and fairmount. so i'm going to back out of way, so you can see what's happening here, make note of. that will also the ben franklin bridge moving in the westbound direction into center city looking good here, we do have accident, though, i'm get to that in just a moment, mass transit, new schedule for septa regional rails, buses and trolleys starting sunday and monday, check schedules on line, do have this accident the pa turnpike westbound past norristown, nicole, over to you. >> thank you, new this morning, two teens on a bike are injured in a hit-and-run crash in philadelphia's spring garden neighborhood. >> so broad street closed there. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at the scene at broad and wallace with the very latest, justin, good morning. >> reporter: brooke, nicole, good morning, police say

within 30 minutes or so, they were able to track down the striking vehicle and the driver as two, 16 year old boys were taken down the street to hahnemann, one with a broken leg, the other in extremely critical condition suffering from severe head trauma. let's take you now to video from overnight. this is the scene. look at what police are calling the strike being vehicle, 2,000 model red lexus found by police off ridge avenue, not too far from the crash scene. the male driver who police say appeared intoxicated is being breath lies dollars, his female passenger was taken to the accident investigation district for questioning. about 2:00 a.m., police say that lexus was speeding north on broad, near wallace street, as five boys on four bikes were going south in those very same lanes. two, 16 year old boys were doubled up on ten speed bike, and that's the one that lexus driver crashed into and just never stopped. witnesses tips led to alert and police found and stopped that lexus seen moving about ridge avenue parking lot, not

too far away. now, part found here on the scene did match that lexus. police say the driver had to know he hit someone because the impact was just so traumatic. >> the impact was so severe it caused the front tire of the bicycle to be torn from the bicycle, that front tire landed about 50 feet north of where the point of impact occurred. >> you're looking live at the investigation as this happened here. that's the bike that police are talking about. there is also cameras in the area that police will review footage from to continue their investigation. again, both teens taken down the street to hahnemann, one is extremely critical with severe head trauma. the other has a broken leg. that driver was taken in for a breathalyzer and charges are to come in this casement eventually once this wraps up here, broad will reopen, this area of 600 north broad between mount vernon and wallace here remains closed

for the investigation as it still continues this morning. nicole, brooke, back into you. >> thank you so much, justin. can't believe it is still happening. >> another crash sends a 16 year old girl to the hospital. it happened at rising sun and b fly at fox chase at about 8:00 last night. police say the girl suffered a possible concussion and broken armment the driver was arrested and faces deu charges. a loft mixed reaction this morning after philadelphia becomes the first major city to pass attacks on sugary drinks. final approval to the one and a half cents per ounce tax on sugary and diet drinks. tax expected to pour in close to $100 million annually. mayor kenney says the mondayly fund universal pre k, parks and libraries, but not everybody is in favor of this new tax. >> this is the first step in finding the resources and revenue that we need to get our kids pre k education. >> it is crazy, you know, already, everything, pay so much taxes for everything, i

think, you know, it is not fair. >> the mayor plans to sign the bill monday, but it won't go into effect until january. critics call the new tax unconstitutional, and are expected to challenge the law in court. >> jurors return to work today for their third day of deliberations, and congressman chaka fattah racketeering trial. democrat from philadelphia is accused of arranging illegal $1 million campaign loan, then paying back part of it with federal grant money and charitable donations, four other people are also on trial. fattah's lawyers blamed two political consultants who already pleaded guilty. >> happening today, singer christina grimmie will be remembered at memorial service in medford, new jersey, viewing is scheduled for 3:00 this afternoon at fellowship alliance chapel, then memorial service at 8:00. evesham township native died last friday night. she had just fin shall up a show in orlando, florida, when she was shot and killed while signing autographs. this morning, there is new cell phone video giving us a glimpse of the terrifying months during the night of the

orlando massacre. we want to warn you the video you are about to see is definitely disturbing. marlie hall has the latest on the investigation. >> this grainy cell phone video showed more than a dozen people packed into a bathroom stall, as omar mateen went on deadly shooting spree inside the pulse night club in orlando. mikhail shot multiple times. >> we just tried to keep everybody as calm as possible, and keep them quiet so he wouldn't come back in there and shoot at us. >> sources tell cbs news mateen checked social media for trending topics like pulse orlando and shooting in the middle of his killing spree. investigators say he also exchanged an i love you text with his wife, nora solomon. >> she has been cooperating with police but officials suspect she new about the plot and will likely face charges. president obama and vice president joe biden visited a growing memorial in orlando thursday. they left 49 white roses, to honor the dead. >> we will not be able to stop

suspected thief. now, police say it all started early yesterday morning, at the woodlands manner ants, here in morrisville. resident called 911 to report a car break-in, then chased the thief who took off in a stolen car. now the suspect crashed no a building on pennsylvania avenue and police say that's when the resident pulled up in his own car, shot him in the arm. morrisville police say that was not a good idea. >> don't take this into your own hands, let us hanible it. call us, be a good witness. don't be, you know, don't go out there and do this. it is not worth, you know, anybody's life. >> the suspected thief was also taken into custody. well, disney worlds plans to put up alligator warning signs now around the waterways in its parks and resorts in orlando, florida the move comes after an alligator killed a nebraska toddler at disney worlds. that little boy's family released this statement it, reads, words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. we are devastated. we ask for privacy during this

extremely difficult time. to all of the local authorities and staff who work tirelessly, these past 24 hours, we express our deepest gratitude. >> it all happened tuesday night, an alligator dragged two year old lane graves as he waded in shallow water at the grand floridian resort. an autopsy revealed the toddler died as a result of drowning, and traumatic injury. no swimming signs were posted at the resort, but there were no warnings about the alligators. >> we are following developing story from the southwestern us. firefighters struggling to contain wild fires burning in southern california, new mexico, and arizona. hena daniels has today's development, including, what's hampering efforts to control those flames. >> reporter: this blaze near santa barbara, california exploded thursday night. driven by wind, the flames marched from the mountains, right down to the 101 freeway. firefighters race in the with helicopters to drop water on cars, in an effort to keep them, and the freeway, from

burning. >> it is insane. you know, it is nothing like i've ever seen. it is terrifying really. very dangerous. very dangerous. >> hundreds of firefighters are battling the california blaze using half dozen air tankers and helicopters. fire officials say this could be the worse wild fire season ever in the state. >> this has been a significant and challenging fire. it is burning in a area notorious for life and property lost, structural lost and fuels that have not burned for over 70 years. >> in arizona fire fight remembers making progress against the cedar creek fire. the blaze has torched close to 8,000 acres, while hundreds have been evacuated, thousands more are under pre evacuation orders. leaving many families, very nervous. >> they called in and said, mom, it is really scary out here. it is smokey. what do we do? >> another fire, this one in new mexico, has burned more than 12,000 acres, with continued dry conditions, and

record setting heatwave on the way to the western us, there may not be much help from mother nature on the way. hena daniels, for cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> after some rain yesterday, we are drying out. >> that's the good news, katie is here with the forecast leading into the weekends, fathers day weekends, hopefully we get some good weather. >> i can promise you what looks to be, giles, one of the best weekend that we've actually had pretty much this year so far t looks so, so nice. so, if you don't have outdoor plans for dad, maybe were you hesitant about what might have been a downhill forecast, you don't have to worry about it, looking just gorgeous. today is a day of transition, look at the color of the skyline, outside kutztown area middle school. beautiful start to the day. just because we have a system retreating, you have the clouds to sort of skew the colors, and it is absolutely gorgeous outside cut town area middle school at this hour. 62 degrees, very modest winds still out there, as well, and somewhat haphazard, but see

the wind flow turn more out of the north with time, help to draw in some cooler and also drier air, and then we end up with really great weather looking ahead to tomorrow. right now still tracking the remains at least of the area of low pressure brought us the rain yesterday. and at this point, smooth sailing behind it. because high pressure will be building in from the north. as it does so again you ends up with lowering dew points, air go some low humidity, as well as the return of sunshine, light winds, and just nice comfortable want. now, when it comes to the eyewitness weather health report, air quality pollen levels are still moderate. out here, my voice, man, suffering from what i believe is allergies anyway. but i've been holding back sneeze all morning long. but the uv index today very high as we start to see the clouds break apart for some sunshine. so, keep it in mind. sun block always necessity. specially when you start to see the uv climbing ever higher, and through the weekends it will be very high, you've got to make sure you're take caring care of your skin. as far as first pitch goes, great excuse to take dad out for early fathers day gift, clouds, comfortable today at

clock 05, 72 degrees in the sunshine, and looking ahead in the forecast, in our eyewitness weather seven day, low to mid 80s, right through the weekends, we give it blue ribbon for dad, but also blue ribbon of a forecast sunday. just picture perfect. i mean, enjoy t by monday we officially kick start sumner very summer like weather 87 degrees on the thermometer, and lots of sunshine, hello summer, says the seven day, hi, meisha. >> thanks, katie, good morning, everyone, hammy friday to you. so there is area right here woodhaven road, taillights moving in the eastbound direction. now, this is where we had overturned vehicle, for awhile there, all lanes blocked, and you are being diverted ton bristol pike. that's since cleared. so you can see, woodhaven road pushing in the eastbound direction and westbound direction, everything looking real nice and calm right now, that has cleared. this is where we have a hit-and-run accident going on, broad street at wallace, the camera shot is showing you broad street at spring garden, and fairmount avenue.
