yesterday we had some rain, this is as our latest system continues to make it retreat out of area. part of the reason not only do you have lingering clouds, couple of showers, but really pretty colors showing up on the skyline. now as the day progresses hour by hour, we take you through, should easily make it back to the low 80s, close to seasonable, with time these skies will continue to clear out. may still be the most spotty of left over showers, wrap around moisture in a couple of spots, overall i'm anticipating pretty nice day for the most part say for left over sprinkles here and there. most of are you likely to stay dry. coming up as the day progresses, humidity begins to drop off. that's going to be running theme, so the whole weekends looks beautiful. next week as we officially kick start the summer season we start heating things up on the thermometer as well. so, we'll have that full forecast for you coming up a bit later in the show. meantime though, meisha, i have to say, starting to feel very comfortable out here already. >> i bet it is, looks great out there, thank you so much.

even felt warmer earlier on this morning, all right, you guys, vine closed overnight for construction, you can see, both moving in the westbound and eastbound side. things looking really good. and traffic is holding stead he, i would say, fairly, fairly light right there. before spring garden see what you are working with here, moving in the even direction toward center city looking good both directions right now on the schuylkill eastbound and westbound looking really nice. this is where we had hit-and-run accident little earlier, broad street at wallace. so this camera pointing right now at broad street. closed between spring garden and fairmount avenue. justin finch will actually have little more on that coming up in a little built. we have some construction, 59 northbound at route 291 bartrum avenue. off ramp closed. looks like closed saturday between 6:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m. just make note of that for those of in you that area. accident cleared here, on the pa turnpike westbound past norristown. mass transit new schedule for septa regional rails, buses, and trolleys starting sunday and monday, you certainly want to check your schedules on

line. brooke, nicole, over to you. >> meisha, thank youment as meisha just mentioned, the investigation is on into a hit-and-run that left two teenagers injured in the city spring garden neighborhood. >> one of those teens is said to be fighting for his life this morning. let's go live out to broad and wallace where "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is standing by with the very latest, justin? >> brooke, nicole, good morning. the investigation does continue this morning, primarily between broad and malvern and wallace streets. the scene of this crash this morning, a crash that has sent two, 16 year old boyles, to the hospital, one with a broken leg, the other with severe head trauma. he's now in extremely critical condition this morning. let's take you now to video from overnight. this is the 2,000 model red lexus that police are now calling the striking vehicle in this hit-and-run crash. it was found by officers off ridge avenue, not far from the wreck scene. male driver behind the wheel. did he seem intoxicated and it is being breath lies dollars. his female passenger taken to

the accident district for questioning. about 2:00 a.m. police say that lexus was speeding north on broad near wallace street as five boys on four bikes were going south in those very same lanes. those two now injured, 16 year old boys, were doubled up on single ten speed bike. that's the one the lexus driver crashed into, and just kept going, police say, now witness tips and other details led to alert, after police finding and stopping that lexus, near ridge avenue area parking lot, parked found here on the scene, did match that lexus. now, bringing you back out live, to this investigation, as it continues this morning, several evidence markers litter broad street here between wallace and malvern, and here police are also going to turn to cameras in the area, hoping that the cameras here may have caught some video of this crash as it happened, again, those two, 16 year old boys, taken to hahnemann, one with a broken leg, the other with severe head trauma. he is in extremely critical condition this morning. the driver of that lexus in

1% in the past year. mostly because global demands is down, supply is up. meat, fish, milk, bread, egg price haves all fallen, but fresh fruit prices rupp. >> and facebook will start tracking which stores you're shopping in, businesses which ties on facebook will be able to include a map of the closest physical store and then facebook will use the phone's location, to see if people actually went there to shop. so, brooke, nicole, they're watching. >> yes, i would notice those ads pop up for the things i was just searching for on line, like targeted marketing is happening. i don't know. >> thanks, jill. >> after months of debate, the sugary drink tax moves forward here in philadelphia. but, some opponents say they're going to challenge that new law. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo liver in the satellite center reaction from both sides. jan, good morning. >> reporter: nicole, good morning, leaders of the beverage industry weighing their legal options this morning, even before the vote, they say to expect a challenge in court as this tax passed calling it unconstitutional.

well, yesterday it passed by a wider than expected margin. now, city council passed a measure by vote of 13 to four, making philadelphia the first major us sit at this approve attacks on sweetened drinks. the 1.5 cents per ounce tax will apply to all sugary and diet beverages. that includes soda, diet soda, that's, sport drinks, energy drinks, flavored water and even bottled coffee. the tax is expected to raise more than $90 million annually, money needed, mayor jim kenney says, to funds parks, regular creation programs, universal pre k across the citiment even though those are noble initiatives, not everyone is happy about the new tax. >> this is the first step in finding the resources and revenue that we need to get our kids pre k education. >> it is crazy, everything is staggering, philadelphia, we tai so much tax for everything. i think it is not fair. >> now, this is attacks on the drink manufacturers, not the individual items within the store.

but "eyewitness news" has already spoke tone several business owners, who say, they'll have to pass that cost along to customers. the beverage industry also warns this new tax will cost jobs. >> now, mayor kensy expected to sign off on the new law next week t won't take effect until january, though. but again, industry leaders are expected to start planning a legal challenge as early as this morning. nicole, back into you. >> jan, thanks so much. in other news atlantic city main casinos worker union says they'll strike on the first every july if they don't have a new contract. casinos facing the walk-out are bally's, hair's, a ceasar's, the trump taj mahal. union said wore ers made sacrifices in the past, now that increase, committed to fair contract that works for both sides. there is a new policy in place for transgender students at philadelphia schools. student will be allowed to use rest rooms and locker rooms, based on their gender identity and can try out for nip athletic team. students will also be addressed boy names and

christie, from the mid-atlantic chapter of the arts and humanities. did i get that right? >> close, that's good. >> close enough? susan, tell us about a history of the lighthouse? >> right. this beacon has been here since 1859. it is actually the third beacon on this particular site in cape may point. >> so there have boone others. >> where are they? >> actually out to sea, you can't see them any longer. but this wonderful lighthouse has been here since 1859. survived a loft hurricanes, a lot of storms. >> so about 80,000 people come through here per year. and over 2 million total, is that right? >> 2.5 million people have climbed to the top of the lighthouse since it opened to the public in 1980. >> impressive stuff. tell us a little bit about the cool things that are going on here this summer. you have got wide range of event for children, ducts all ages? >> absolutely. we have wonderful events during the summertime here at the cape may lighthouse. they are free for families. you can come to family fun

andy. we will see more of him throughout the show. with that said, we check in with more of the wonderful watchers taking you on out to the map here. as you see, pretty wide variety hereof at least the geographical observations but for the most part into the low 60s here, in most locations, actually i take you out to the temperature sometimes bit easier to process as a whole here, but lynn checking in at 62, so is kerr any mt. laurel, to richboro where megan sort g 63, get the idea a lot of consistency, bill, 61, whole slew, low mid 60s, john up in perkasie, at 62. so, the one oddball out here, really i wouldn't call it an oddball, in the pine lan area, or at least some of the more wooded terrain, chattsword, new jersey where mark; only at 59 degrees. so for the most part off to pretty just not only tranquil start but also consistent start with low 60s around l region. do have bit every wet weather, we will get to, but now getting to the point of the year where these days are long. we are just over 15 hours

every daylight at this point. the sun came up already at 5:32. by june 20th, which is the summer solsus, still rises at 5:32, but the solsus officially takes place 6:34 to be exact in the morning and we will be on the air with you for it, that basically means get being 15 seconds per day of additional daylight. so today, just over 15 hours every daylight, and as these skies start to clear out, as this system makes it retreat, we ends one sun, more of it than we saw yesterday. yes, this system continues to rotate out. may still even be with the counter clockwise rotation residual shower in some spots. but talking, most spotty of the spot yes, sir types of variety of showers as the day goes on, don't need umbrella, unless you are in the southern tear of our region right now, and what a weekend. nothing but sunshine, low humidity, and mid 80s for you here. monday kicking -- kicking off summer, find pool near you, then we steam it up to 90 on tuesday, meisha, a that's the next shot looks like for showers or storm. >> looking good overall, thanks so much, katie.

good morning, everyone, and happy friday. this is what we are looking at on 95, headlights southbound direction past betsy ross bridge. you can see looking pretty darn good out there i would say for pushing toward the 6:00 hour, still holding steady. looking good. both southbound, northbound, not looking good, southbound where i keep my eye. you can see plenty of vehicles out, there overall still looking good on interstate 95. in new jersey, 42 freeway northbound at creek road, giving awe nice shot of this. casino of the blue sky. almost little haze over the sky. but looking good here, holding steady, a lot of vehicles out there on the 42 freeway but holding steady there. hit-and-run accident earlier broad street at wallace, cameras actually showing you broad street closed right now between spring garden and fairmount avenue. justin finch will have little more on that many coming up in a little later. construction here, pa turnpike, before downingtown, right lane is blocked. and also, reminder of this, gas main repair, route 38 eastbound between route 30 and 73, lanes are blocked, not two, three, blocked until

friday, you guys. roads are looking pretty darn good right now still a little hint of wet weather, not everywhere, but yes, still couple of damp roads out there, guys. take a look, pretty obvious, mainly the southern tear of our area you are finds that for the most part though starting offer on drier note, although, still tracking the latest disturbance pulling away off to the south. so across specially kent county here delaware, finding even still very isolated but pockets hereof some moderate rainfall. cape may county cumberland county also in a lot of overcast and also still finding couple of residual showers. this is our transition day, won't absolutely require the umbrella here but going to still see lingering showers, very isolate dollars in nature. sixty the current temperature meanwhile in allentown, into basically 64 your imagine being number up and down i95, down the shore point as well, very consistent with the temperature values. sixty-three or 64, at every single one every these
