>> all right, all right, the nine is next to the zero in here. i'm brooke thomas, why did i have to actually check that? summer officially starts today. katie and meisha are here keeping an eye on things this morning. >> good morning, jim, welcome back. roads are looking good, nice and dry right now, but heating up this monday morning, so give yourself a couple of extra minutes. >> now the weather, just heating up, the weather is doing very much the same. first official day of the summer season guys. check it o so storm scan, nice and quiet, won't have to spends too much time throughout the day today. what you will find however is a nice long day, the summer solsus, after all, so you end up with over 15 hours every daylight, 15 hours and about 38 seconds to be exact. but, with storm scan empty, and full sunshine on our side here, throughout the day, these temperatures that may be starting off innocently enough into the 50's, even 60s right now, are going to soar and once the sun does come up, easily going to get you into the low 90s for yet another day, fathers day topped off at 91, so it will be a toast i

one, not terribly windy either. also notice the up tick in humidity, too, my advice if you have time to kill, lucky enough to have the day off. hit the pool or hit the beach. why not? it is hot. it is steamy. high of 92, won't be as hot as the shore towns, but still going to be just us a bright, and certainly just as steamy. the uv index all the way up to a ten today. so please make sure that you are lathering up on the sun block, sun angle is awfully high to the point that you got to be sure that you are taking care in the sun. and also, stay hydrated. these are the kind of days that can frankly be dangerous if you are not smart about it. so it is a nice day, meisha, a but just got to take care, right? >> yes, absolutely, when you crack open the 90's, no joke. thank you so much. good morning, looking at the blue route southbound, blue route looking actually really typical for i would say early monday morning, got some early risers out there, sure, but nothing really starting to heat up here. blue route looking okay, southbound direction, delaware county kinds of the same story, but i will say 95 north

at 452, maybe slightly more vehicles than what we normally see making our way into the 5:00 hour now, something i think about as we progress through the morning, keep every good indicator on what we will be talking about today, boulevard southbound direction, looking nice there, once you jump on to the schuylkill at the boulevard, looking okay. construction here, 495 northbound, off ramp to edgemore road, closed, that's going to be closed until next thursday. then the two lanes, two right lanes, leading to up that, block until about right now. so i'll let you know as soon as that clears. pa turnpike westbound between ft. washington and valley forge, left lane blocked because of the construction there. and also, some changes to mass transit. regional rails, buses, and trolleys, running new schedule, regional rails, started yesterday, buses and trolleys, some yesterday, some today. also media elwin line bussing between through september 4th, brooke, over to you. >> thanks, meisha a new this morning, three people are hurt, after a car crash in the city's kingsessing area. two cars collided just before 2:00 a.m., at 47th and woodland avenue. the impact sent one car crashing through a gaeton to

the sidewalk. no details on the victim's condition. but the cause of the accident is under investigation. >> also, this morning, the gloucester county prosecutor's offers has taken over an investigation into a shooting in paulsboro. this happened late last night. near the corner every broad and pine street. no word on the victim or condition, investigators are expected to release more information, later today. >> and, an investigators are picking through evidence taken from the bucks county home where 12 girls were rescued just days ago. >> meanwhile, neighbors say they tried to warn police repeatedly about the home, and want to know what took them so long. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo live in feasterville with the latest on the investigation. good morning, jan. >> reporter: jim, brooke, good morning, police continue their investigation here at this feasterville home. over the weekend there is conducted search warrant where they went through met you can justly every room of this house, you can see, on scene behind me this morning, that one police officer remains here, now, the work that unfolded this weekend did so in front of still stunned

neighbors, many, who for a long time, suspected something was wrong at this hour, and -- at this hours, and they tell "eyewitness news" they contacted dollars thursday years ago about their concerns, now police arrested 51 year old lee kaplan, charged him with number of crimes including sexual assault. police say he fathered two children, three year old, infant, with now 18 year old woman living here. they say he first started having sex with the victim when she was just 14 years old. now, authorities responded to this home on old street road after receiving anonymous tip about child abuse. inside police say they found 12 females hiding in a basement chicken coup. they range from six months to 18 years old. police say the 18 year old may have been given to kaplan by her birth parent as some sort of business agreement for financial support. those parent have been arrested, as well. police say daniel and savila admitted to gifting their child, their daughter, and told police they thought the agreement was legal after researching on line. this morning, neighbors want to know why more wasn't done earlier, when they say they

contacted authorities years ago. >> i had no idea there was 12 girls living in there because the only three out at the time, even that was vest limited. i waived one time, they put their head down, walk away, and i thought something was off. >> i just made the call. i don't know, just instinct, i felt like i wasn't going through another summer where everybody should be outside kind of thing, and not see those little girls again. >> this time, little bit different, because they found out that this girl was 14 years old that had two children, so that gives you the probable cause to go in the house. >> now, police say being the children found in this home appear to be amish. investigators say they are brinking in specialists now to speak with them. and according to police, daniel and savila say the rest of the children are theirs, but police are working to confirm that since they have no birth certificates, none enrolled in school, and unknown at this time whether any of the other children were subjected to abuse. now, kaplan happen the girls

>> extreme temperatures fueling wilds fires in at least eight states on the west coast.

>> hena daniels has the latest weather conditions, now firefighters are working against all effort. >> the intense heat is complicating efforts, to tackle several wild fires, raging in the west. dozens of residents near san diego were ordered to evacuate sunday, when triple digit temperatures ignite add brush fire in dessert community. >> i went in, got the olds lady, got her, got the dogs out, i went back in, looked out the back door, and there was wall of flames. >> in santa barbara county, air crews have been working around the clock to contain the so-called sherpa fire. now, in it sixth day. their effort are being hampered by steep terrain and high winds. >> if we had a week without wind, we would be great. unfortunately, that's not predicted. >> over the weekend, temperatures topped 118 degrees in arizona. creating dangerous conditions, for people spending time outdoors. >> water, nice little sun, shouldn't be too many people out there. we'll go until i feel tired.

and feel little lethargic, come down. >> rescue crews sent to help seven huge ers, two died, believed to be from heat related illnesses. one is still missing. and the crushing heat is expected to get even worse. forecasters say, highs in phoenix could hit 120 degrees today. hena daniels, for cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> those winds are really wicked, bad weather out there. >> nothing you can do about it when it is the weather. >> so true, guys, you know, when it rains it pours, to pardon the pun here, no rain anticipated, there but the heat will continue to build. we look at some of the temperatures that they are he expecting today, i mean, it is ridiculous how hot it is getting out there. look at these expected highs for today. phoenix just heard in the package expected to at least flirt with 121, 116 the he can peck takes, sky harbor international, 111 in sells, just unbelievable heat, so

dangerous. so it makes our heat certainly seem not quite as bad by comparison. but look at furnace creek, very apartment lie named, 125. the expected high there today. hard to even imagine that kind of heat. but, there you have it, very extremement and they will not get any relief from any rain the entire western seaboard totally clear. and that is obviously a problem sometimes. now, for us, we are still clear here at home. here is another cold front, that's going to be crossing through, as we look ahead to tomorrow. the moment, though, still pressing at the moment, at least, through wisconsin, portions of north central iowa, will make its arrival hereby tomorrow. by tomorrow, we actually will sit at least in portions of the area in a marginal if not even slight risk for some stronger thunderstorms, especially, through the delmarva peninsula, but marginal risk, to slightly being for the southern tear of the region for heavy downpours, gusty win, possibility of hail as the colds front passes through, heating up, instability that would be required to spark some strong or locally severe

responding to a call when a ford expedition crashed into his cruiser at front and champ plows. the officer and the people in the suv were taken to einstein medical center. all suffered non-life threatening injuries. >> charges are filed against driver of a van that rolled over on i-95 in virginia saturday killing six people. cruz facing six counts of involuntary manslaughter. police say driver fatigue was a was a factor in the wreck. none of the 15 passengers in the van were wearing seatbelts, the group headed to new jersey from north carolina. >> in other news, mini-van pulled from the delaware river in south philadelphia. but there is no sign of a driver. eyewitnesses told police, the vehicle was speeding down oregon avenue on cross columbus boulevard when it crashed through a fence at the shipyard and plunged into the river. police divers spent hours yesterday searching for the driver of the mini-van. but low visibility and debris made it difficult. police say it could be days
