how trump is firing back. but we begin tonight with storm damage down the shore. good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm nicole brewer. ukee washington is off tonight. severe weather left its mark this afternoon and now the cleanup begins. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in lower township cape may county with a closer look at that damage. trang. >> reporter: jess dark this storm came through around 3:30 and you can see crews are still out here cleaning up this mess. take look there's tree crew here because two massive trees fell down on this yard. you can see the one fell right on top of this house. it's mazing with the size of these trees and the widespread damage in this county that no one was hurt or killed. sirens blaring signaling a busy night for the villas fire department. >> they were tacked for the whole two hours during and after the event. >> i've been here through hurricanes and nor'easters. never seen anything like this before. this is crazy. >> reporter: severe storm came into cape may county around 3:30 p.m.

bringing heavy rain and high winds. and leaving some 30,000 atlantic city electric customers without power. >> i thought it was a tornado i was yelling to my mom i think we're in a tornado right now. >> about a dozen homes with serious damage from fallen trees and downed power lines. many in the villas section of lower township. >> came down my street, oh, my god, the tree came down. so i called my neighbor and checked my house thank god my house is okay. >> reporter: crews and neighbors alike chipping in to clear roads and yards. >> i just got home from work and saw my neighbors had trees down and my tree fell in my other neighbor's yard. try to get it cleaned up for them. >> in another part of cape may counsel tow a fallen tree above add back window of a car at home depot in middle township. other downed trees littered the parking lot. everyone grateful the damage was just property. >> i a have a four-year-old little girl. thankful nobody was here, nobody got hurt and that we're all ok okay. >> reporter: and that shot

just shows just how crazy this storm was. hour full it was. i just check in with ac electric and those power outage numbers are going down. 21,000 customers still without power but they say some customers could be waiting as long as a day for their power to be restored. but for now we're live in lower township, cape may counsel tearing i'm drank do cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> pretty significant damage. trang, thank you chopper three through over more storm damage in cape may county tonight. the strong winds flipped over a small plane at cape may airport in rio grant. the roof is gone as well at the wildwood public works garage it was apparently blown away by the storms and the florentine family motel in wildwood suffered roof damage. take a look at this picture from wildwood. strong winds picked up a small boat then carried it into the side of the greater wildwood yacht club. fortunately no one was hurt. >> those storms moved quickly but they definitely packed a bunch. meteorologist justin drabick is in for kate he has a closer look at the severe weather that left

its mark. >> justin. >> jessica, pretty strong storms. winds up to around 80 miles per hour reported in some spots did prompt tornado warning for southern cape may counsel too. no confirmation of tornado just yet. they'll be as segmenting the damage tomorrow. nonetheless widespread damage again really the southern half of cape may county you can see 3:30 the storms rolling over the delaware bay little bit of a bow indicating strong winds as the storm just ripped through the southern part of the county. you can see the cluster the storm reports. these are wind and wind damage reports again with those 80 miles an hour gusts windows blown out of a lot of homes, trees on the homes as well and even power poles snapped in two. it's not uncommon to get tornadoes around the mid atlantic this time of year this is our prime severe weather season right now. the month of june for around the delaware valley, but wednesday on the year, 10-year average. we average 16 tornadoes for the year. 10 in maryland. two in new jersey and one in delaware. they do happen from time to time and usually they're on the low inside, and now this is what we're left with. a couple of showers now dying
