>> i'm shot. >> reporter: folcroft police officer christopher dorman a 25 year-old member of the force called 911 after being shot seven times, once in the face. he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. >> unaudible. this is man police say shot and almost killed one of their own. the his name is daunte brooks island. >> do you have any comment. >> reporter: island was quiet as police brought him friday night to be arraigned before a judge. >> he is a drug dealer. he also, has been convicted of firearms violations, various firearms violations, and has been serving a sentence, a long sentence of approximately 15 years in a federal penitentiary. >> reporter: he recently got out. the officer dorman was on the drug investigation near this apartment complex on elmwood avenue in folcroft. shots rang out at ten in the morning. police say island shot at another officer but didn't

are investigating a stab nothing delaware county. it happened around 11:00 in an alley way near fairfield avenue terminal square in upper darby. investigators say one person was taken to the hospital. no details on that person's condition. a north philadelphia mother is facing charges in connection with the fatal shooting of her four year-old daughter. police say child, accidentally shot herself in the face, last night, neighbors held a vigil outside the child's home. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has more. >> reporter: tears, prayers, moments of the silence in memory of the four year-old little girl. >> everybody is out here. >> reporter: mound of teddy bears with candles and images of sinai set the tone of the somber memorial in front of the child's north philadelphia home. >> very sad. i watched little girls play every day. that is heart breaking. >> reporter: the girl was found inside a second floor bedroom in her home on thursday afternoon in the 1800

block of north 20th street. she had a gunshot wound to the head. while neighbors mourned new details were emerging about the child's death. sources tell "eyewitness news" that the girl's mother has been now charged with third degree manslaughter and recklessly endangering the welfare of the child. while the child did die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after accidentally pulling a trigger on the 40 caliber semiautomatic handgun police sources say mother initially took the child outside and placed her on the porch and told them she fell from the window. she also allegedly told police a stray bullet came from outside the home. >> unaudible. >> we can start on the ground by just telling people to put your guns away from your children, hide them tonight, keep them out of the way of the kid. we love you. we are here for you. >> reporter: crowd consoled the crowd's grieving aunt, tears replaced word for heart breaking grandmother a and while there are still questions surrounding the death, children her own age,

neighbors and strangers alike released balloons in an unquestionable act of love. >> reporter: police clearing up the charges of third degree manslaughter as it relate to the mother. they are saying it relate to negligence on her part. she was not in the room at the time the shooting took place. meantime sources also tell "eyewitness news" that the gun used was stolen and illegal, also the mother's boyfriend has been wanted since 2013 on weapons charges. police headquarters, natasha brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". friend and family gathered for funeral of the youngest victim of the nightclub shooting. services for akyra murray was at monumental baptist church in philadelphia a she recently graduated from west catholic high school was a stand out basketball star. school's president says akyra touched lives of so many. >> i hope that they understand, all right, the real impact that she had upon

everyone's lives, young and old, because she was just a great young girl. she was a scholar athlete. she is a scholar athlete of the school, yes. the jussie great young girl. >> akyra graduated third in her class was on her way to mercyhurst university on a full at let scholarship. is there also a funeral for george bengal, services held in northeast philadelphia included full military honors. bengal died last week at the age of 69. the pspca has establish the bengal fund to end animal cruelty in his memory. george bengalis survived by his wife of 35 years, two daughters and a grandson. well, searchers continue to find more bodies after severe flooding in west virginia, and at least 24 people have died, and as we report, more rain is in the forecast. >> reporter: water rushing through houses and over streets, in what is being called a 1,000 year event. heavy rains, sent creeks and rivers out of their banks and

nothing is happening. this is what you want to see on the weekend because we had that cold front that finally came through, brought a few heavier showers across delaware and southern new jersey yesterday. they have now moved off shore or replaced by high pressure and locked in control over the north east. so that means sunshine. and where ever position of the high that is will drop humidity a bit. to points running high, they are at 62 degrees indicating humid air mass but we will drop in the pleasant zone through the rest of the weekend, and that is starting this afternoon. i guess good beach day to day. mostly sunny skies, breezy. 77 degrees for the high. uv index on the high side. northeast wind does kick up around 15 miles an hour. gorgeous weekend. mid 80's for high temperatures inland. seventy's along the coast. tomorrow a repeat of today, and it will be somewhat cool in the morning tomorrow, lots of suburbs will be down in the 50's, on sunday morning but a nice rebound in the mid 80's, monies day we will start to notice increase in humidity and here comes our next cold

mid 80's, and we will hit afternoon hours and humidity will drop hour by hour and just a great looking weekend forecast for first weekend, of summer. 86 degrees for the high in philadelphia, both days in the sunshine. there will be more heat and humidity returning, we will check out that seven day in a few more minutes, rahel, back to you. now lets get back to the breaking news atlantic county, new jersey police are investigating a serious car crash on the garden state parkway, "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live in galloway township with the very latest, good morning, what have have you learned. >> reporter: good morning. we just spoke to pennsylvania state police who tell us that two people are dead, and two people were injured after a nissan sedan plunged into the mulika river that happened just before 1:00 this morning. it is a active scene still, investigators are pulling that car out of the river, again, two people died, and two people were injured but we are told two people injured, those injuries are non-life threatening. police say four-door car went

in the river around mile marker 48.6 in galloway township in the southbound lanes. from what we can see all that is left of the guardrail is mangled metal. we know water here is 8 feet deep and police call in the medical examiner and dive teams. they have since left. two people injured were brought to atlantic city mainland hospital. that is all we know at this time, two people dead, two people with non-life threatening injuries and we will bring you more information as it becomes available. live from the parkway, a neat a oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". thank you. authorities charged a third suspect in connection with the murder of the chester woman. victim's body was found in fair mount park. police arrested keith bullock of chester, he is charged with chantell smith have of philadelphia a and shavon armstrong of wilkes barre. investigators say women killed bryant over a $800 debt last week. she was tied up, stabbed and shot. bullock is charged with

conspiracy to commit murder. a pennsylvania woman facing charges in connection with two girls found in the feasterville home is denied bail reductions. savilla stoltzfus remains behind bars on one million-dollar bail with her husband daniel to the the fuss and lee kaplan. men do not have lawyers assigned to the case. investigators say the couple gifted their 14 year-old daughter to kaplan after he helped them out financially. police rescued the teen and 11 other children from kaplan's home last week. most of west virginia is under a state of emergency after deadly flooding. authorities say 24 people have died and many others are still unaccounted for. severe storms dumped up to 9 inches of rain, that washed out road and homes across the mountain state. thousands still remain without power. is there also a state of emergency in california where a deadly fast moving wild fire grew by 30 percent. as daniel nottingham reports dozens of homes that have been

i'm don bell, have a great day. live streaming is a big topic at the moment, twitter, pariscope and twitter introduced their own solutions to the growing social media trend and soon you will be able to live stream from the you tube app. we will show how the new app works. >> soon you will be able to live stream, you tuba announced it will bring live streaming right to the mobile app. this isn't twitter where you use secondary apps. it will be based in one single app. you tube released a screen shot of what live screaming on the you tube app will look like. choose to make the stream or not. if you want to stream without chat you can do that. is there an option to notify your subscribers. when you are live the interface is visually similar to pariscope with the full screen video of whatever you are streaming. comments appear in bubbles. as new comment come in, older fade away. company says the you tube infrastructure will be faster and more reliable then anything out there. that sound like a shot at facebook.
