to cloud, fog in some spots but that will dissipate and we will see sunshine today. sixty-five is the current temperature at the airport. northeast wind at 5 miles an hour. that wind direction will be huge in our forecast this weekend. it stays out of the east. temperatures won't get too hot, still warm with the sun but pleasant with lower humidity. sixty-five again at the airport in wilmington and philadelphia, 50's still in the coolest suburbs to the north, 57 degrees in quakertown. storm scan three is quiet rather than cloudiness this morning giving way to mostly sunny skies, in threat of rain, still muggy right now but as we head in the afternoon notice a big drop in humidity that will stay with us throughout the entire weekend. temperatures where they should be for philadelphia this time of the year. 86 degrees. nice breeze off the ocean at the shore, sunshine in the upper 70's, poconos in good shape also in the upper 70's. the don't get used to it because it is late june. we will bring back heat and

humidity and let you know when that comes up, in the seven day forecast. back to you. updating breaking news we have been following all morning, atlantic county, new jersey police are investigating a fatal car crash on the garden state parkway. two people dead and two are hurt after a nissan sedan spun out and lost control and plunge in the river. it happened just before 1:00 in the galloway township. police, and it went in the river around mile marker 48.6 in the southbound lanes. investigators to just pull the car out of the river. water is about 8 feet deep. two people hurt were taken to the hospital. no details on their condition. delaware county police officer is in stable condition this morning after being shot several times. twenty-five year-old christopher dorman is being treated at penn presbyterian medical center in university city. suspect gunman daunte brooks island is behind bars. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has the latest on the investigation.

>> i'm shot, i'm shot, i'm shot. >> reporter: folcroft toe lease officer christopher dorman called 911 after being shot seven times. once in the face. he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. >> i'm shot in the face. i'm shot in the face. >> reporter: this is man who police say shot and almost killed one of their own. his name is daunte brooks island. >> daunte, do you have any comment. >> island was comment as police brought him friday night to be arraigned before a judge. >> he is a drug dealer. he also has been convicted of firearms violations, various firearms violation and has been serving a sentence, a long sentence of approximately 15 years in the federal penitentiary. >> reporter: he recently got out, officers dorman was on the scene of the drug investigation near this apartment complex on elmwood avenue in folcroft. shots rang out around 10:00 in the morning. police say island shot at

another officer but didn't injure that officer. swat teams were on the scene moments later. emergency crews rush him to mercy fitzgerald and then transferred to to penn presbyterian a level one trauma center. >> the doctor says anyone of those rounds on his vest could have been fatal. he was shot in the front and back with the vest. >> reporter: members of the folcroft community held a prayer vigil. >> we are folcroft and we must be veg lint, if we see anything in our neighborhood, to make a phone call. >> reporter: another group including law enforcement officers met to pray in neighboring collindale, they want to see their friend, collogue back on the street as soon as possible. police say island tried to shoot another police officer and that is yes is facing two charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault. reporting from penn presbyterian hospital david spun t for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". keep it right here for continuing coverage, you can always get latest on the investigation on our web site at cbs philly to the come.

new this morning police are investigating a stab nothing delaware county. it happened around 11:00 in an alley way near fairfield avenue at terminal square in upper darby. investigators tell us one person was taken to the hospital, no details, on than that person's condition. a north philadelphia mother is facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting of her four year-old daughter. police say child subsequently shot herself in the face, and last night, neighbors held a vigil outside the child's home. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has more. >> reporter: tears, prayers moments of silence in memory of the four year-old little girl. >> everybody is out here. >> reporter: mound of teddy bears surrounded by candles and images of sinai set the tone of the somber memorial outside the child's north philadelphia home. >> i watched the girls play every day, you know, that is heart breaking. >> reporter: police say girl was found inside a second floor bedroom in her home on

thursday, afternoon, hot 1800 block of north 20th street, she had a gunshot wound to the head. while neighbors mourned new tea tails were emerging about the child's death. sources tell "eyewitness news" the girls mother has been charged with third degree manslaughter and recklessly endangering welfare of the child. while the child did die fray gunshot wound after accidentally pulling the trigger on the 40 caliber semiautomatic handgun police sources now say that the mother initially took the child outside and placed her on the porch and told them that she fell from the window. she also allegedly told police a stray bullet came from outside the home. >> we need to start on the ground by just telling people to please put your guns away from your children, hide them, keep them out of the way of the kids. >> we love you. we are here for you. >> reporter: crowd consoled grieving aunt, tears replaced words for heart broken grandmother and while there are still questions surrounding sinai tragic death

as they said good bye to 18 year-old akyra mur friday west philadelphia she was youngest victim of the orlando massacre. >> unaudible. >> reporter: families say they traveled to orlando for a vacation and visit akyra's brother. akyra her cousin and friend were inside the pulse nightclub when gunman omar mateen started his deadly rampage. >> they shouldn't to have go through stuff like this. i'm just overwhelmed. >> reporter: akyra was a stan out basketball player at west catholic high school one of the few to ever score a thousand points. her teammates wore basketball jerseys over their dresses at the funeral, others wore red which is akyra's favorite color. just prior to her murder akyra graduated third in her class and on her way to play basketball at mercyhurst college. >> i hope they understand, all right that we have a real impact upon everyone's lives, young and old because she was just a great young girl,

scholar athlete, she is scholar athlete of the school. jussie great young girl. >> reporter: murray's family declined to speak but her mother left us with beautiful word towards her daughter. fact you you are in longer with us will cause us pain but always be for never my heart until we meet again n west philadelphia, cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". searchers continue to find more bodies after severe flooding in west virginia. at least 24 people died and as mary maloney reports more rain is in the the forecast. >> reporter: the water rushing through houses and over streets, in what is being called a 1,000 year event. heavy rains, sent creeks and rivers out of their banks and quickly became deadly. >> it is devastating. >> reporter: rising waters took out bridges, broke barges loose and swept away homes. >> it is heart breaking for these older people that work all their lives for what they got and then just one day.

the world is react to go britain's vet to leave the european union. last night moody's investor services downgraded the uk's credit rating outlook to negative. kitty logan has more on the fall out from the brexit vote. >> reporter: financial ramifications, of british's exit from the european union began even as the votes were being counted. the british pound began falling in value overnight and would end in the lowest level against the dollar since 1985. the world markets followed suit as investors panicked. by the time the markets closed in new york the dow jones had lost more than 600 points. political ramifications were swift as well, with british prime minister david cameron announcing he is resigning in light of his failure to keep the country in the eu. >> i think the country requires fresh leadership to

nomination. justin joining us now with the weather watchers. the justin what are they saying. >> temperatures in the 60's right now. some areas seeing a little bit of fog but overall this is a nice forecast. tough to complain about late june conditions, because we will be dealing with temperatures right where they should be with low humidity. so a great day to head outside, if you have outdoor plans today or tomorrow it is a go, enjoy the pleasant conditions for right now. so through the backyards, generally low to mid, upper 60's right now. we will go up to the lehigh valley. first where we are in the sunshine at julia's house at 62 degrees at this hour. warm start to the morning. and that sun will make it feel warm this afternoon as well but humidity will continue to drop as we progress throughout the afternoon. the let's head over to new jersey where jenny janssen, she checks in with some clouds and lower clouds, and fog in some spots, temperatures right now, 65 degrees at cherry hill, and similar conditions are around philadelphia, as well, so phil he is the at 65 with cloudy skies, right now we will go out to chester county where it is slight liz

cooler in nottingham 62 at fran's house. he has fog, pretty much set up perfectly. bright sky overhead, fog and ground level should burn off quickly. that is what we are seeing. we have low level clouds and fog but sunshine on tap today. give it another hour or so and should quickly dissipate. lets go up to berks county where we are fog free. look at that clear sky, 58 degrees, that is nice, for late june, north/northeasterly breeze. the pretty much calm right now. they kick up by 10 miles an hour but full sunshine right now, temperatures will wrappedly warm up in the 80's where they should be. warmest spots will be inland locations. overall in of june, pretty much on target as far as temperatures, just a degree above average, even though we did have five days in the 90's our high was 92 degrees. low was at 53. we could use some rain. able to get showers over the pass couple of days but not every where saw the rain. we are down a inch and a half here for philadelphia it looks

like we will be locked in the fairly dry weather pattern over the next week or so and certainly no chance of rain this weekend, high pressure just dominating new england and maryland atlantic area included free skies for the most part with rain moving off shore that was yesterday's showers that held through parts of the south jersey and delaware. still muggy right now, dew point temperatures running in the the lower 60's. the that is still indicating a human air mass but as we head in the afternoon dryer air moves in and we will be in the pleasant zone for today, tonight and certainly on sunday. so enjoy that. hanging out at pool this afternoon or home at the local community pool 86 degrees. put the sun block on, late june, sun's rays are strongest. burn time around ten minutes for average skin type if you are in the wearing sun block a the shore nice breeze does kick up out of the north east. it is off the ocean. ocean temperature chilly at 65. keeps the air temperature in the 70's. good beach day. rip current risk is at a moderate level for that push

ocean. seventy's for beaches and inland back in the mid 80's. enjoy today 86 degrees. overall we will call it pleasant but it will be warm with the sunshine and clear, comfortable night tonight we will drop to 62 for philadelphia area and 50's in the suburbs and then look at this extended forecast, still nice tomorrow, good way to finish off weekend. humidity increases monday. we will bring in clouds, that cold front. maybe a shower or two monday night and then tuesday that is a better chance to see a scattered showers or thunderstorm. not everyone sees the rain but we could use the rain. behind that we will jump to the 80's but we will see another drop in the temperatures. 80 degrees for the high on wednesday in the sunshine looking real nice and as we head in the holiday weekend friday humidity increases and there could be a scattered shower or storm. but as we finish off a the month of june nothing too hot. we will not see any big time heat waves, sustain heat coming at us in the near future. >> great way to close it out. >> justin, thank you.

weather. first official full weekend of the summer season and in the feeling like the middle of summer. it will be warm but humidity will continue to drop as we head in the afternoon hours. still low clouds over part of the area but they are starting to break up behind me but temperatures starting to respond with the sunshine. we are up to 67 at the airport. sixty-one allentown. the nice in mount pocono. 50 degrees at this hour. still in the upper 50's in quakertown, palmyra checks in at 67 degrees. muggy right now, dew point temperatures are running up in the 60's indicating a humid air mass but it will drop through the afternoon in the 50's. we will call it pleasant by afternoon hours and that low humidity will stick with us through overnight hours and for tomorrow. storm scan three is quiet, so that is what you can expect throughout the weekend as we remain lock to an overall dry pattern. high temperature today pretty much on average 86 degrees for philadelphia, 70's at the shore in the sunshine, nice breeze off the water and upper 70's in the poconos but look at tonight. this is what you will wake up

to tomorrow morning, outside city and suburbs, 50's, don't get that a whole lot this time of the year. enjoy. open up windows. enjoys nice refreshing breeze and low humidity. won't last though because it is summertime. we will talk about when we can expect that heat and humidity return in the full forecast. >> just a matter of time. >> that is right. >> let's update breaking news we have been following all morning in atlantic county new jersey police just pulled car out of the water in the fatal crash in the parkway. anita oh is live, with the latest. i know you just spoke to authorities what are they saying right now. >> reporter: we have just learned that two people died and two people are injured after a nissan sedan somehow lost control while traveling here on the garden state parkway, and plunged into a swamp area here near mulika river and it happened just before 1:00 this morning and we just saw investigators pull that car outside of the river. we know that water here is about 8 feet deep, police say four-door car was traveling

southbound, again, on the garden state parkway, but landed in this marsh by the river around mile marker 48.6 here in galloway township. now from what we can see all that is left of the guardrail is mangled metal. we saw severe damage to the car, much of it crushed and windows were blown out. police say few injured were rushed to atlantic city mainland hospital but those injuries are not believed to be serious. now new jersey state police have block off one lane here while they continue their investigation but two lanes do remain opened and traffic is flowing, pretty smoothly, again two people are confirmed dead at this time and police are notifying their family members, and we're in the sure if alcohol was a factor. live from the garden state parkway, anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks for the update. friend and family gathered for funeral of the youngest victim of the orlando nightclub shooting. services for 18 year-old akyra

murray was at monumental baptist church in philadelphia recently graduated from west catholic high school and was a stand out basketball player. school's president says akyra touched the lives of so many. >> i hope that they understand the real impact that she had upon everyone's lives, young and old because she was just a great young girl. she was a scholar athlete she is the scholar athlete of our school, yes. this was a great young girl. >> um. akyra graduated third in her class and on her way to mercyhurst university on the full athletic scholarship. is there also a funeral for george bengal the pennsylvania spca's director of humane law enforcement. services held in northeast philadelphia included full military honors, bengal tied last week at 69. pspca has establish the bengal fund to end animal cruelty in his memory. george bengal survived by his wife of 35 years, two daughters and a grandson. authorities have charged a third suspect in connection with the murder of the chester woman, victim's body was found

in fair mount park. police arrested keith bullock of chester, he is charged with chantell smith of southwest philadelphia and shavon armstrong of wilkes barre. investigators say woman killed toy bryant over a $800 debt last week. police say she was tied, stabbed, and then shot. bullock is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. pennsylvania woman is facing charges in connection with 12 girls found in the feasterville home, is denied a bail reductions. savilla stoltzfus remains behind bars on one million-dollar bail with her husband, daniel stoltzfus and lee kaplan. the men do not have lawyers assign to the case at this time. investigators say couple gifted their 14 year-old daughter to kaplan after he helped them out financially. they have rescued the teen and 11 other children from kaplan's home last week. most of west virginia is under a state of emergency after a deadly flooding. the authorities say 24 people have died, many others are still unaccounted for, severe storms dumped up to 9 inches

of rain that washed out roads and homes across the mountain state and this morning thousands remain without power. there is also a state of emergency in central california where a deadly mass moving wild fire grew by 30 percent. as danielle nottingham reports dozens of homes have been destroyed in the mountainous area near bakers field. >> reporter: police tape surround the lake isabella home where two people died in the fast moving wild fire. >> it was like driving into the apocalypse, driving into hell. >> reporter: thousands evacuated as fire went through. they are unsure what they will find when they return home. >> i haven't seen damage just yet since i came back but a lot of houses we're looking like on fire. it is so smokey, you could not even start. >> reporter: richard also hoped his home is still standing. >> i hope it is, some people said it was still there when they left it. >> reporter: explosive fire that started thursday afternoon is threatening about 1500 homes, more than 100

collapsed on him while fighting a four alarm fire. plaque laid in his honor in 2006 difficulties a period this march. new plaque has a home at engine number 45 on west york street. well, officials are recognizing september bus driver for his quick actions, after interrupting a purse snatching. i spoke with the driver. said when he he saw purse snatching he didn't think twice but he just ran after the thief. >> watch quickly or you might just miss it, actually, we will play it again. that is veteran bus driver charles artberry flying from his seat, to go after a purse snatcher. >> just wanted to help out. if my wife was in that predicament i would hope somebody would help her. >> reporter: thief struck as victim was about to board the bus as about 4:40 in the morning at 29th and girard avenue, art bury said he didn't give it much thought and didn't to have run far down girard before he pinned down the suspect licensing enough for police to take him in. >> big risk, definitely

courageous, mr. artberry exhibited the very definition of going above and beyond the call of duty. >> reporter: artberry says his fellow passengers stepped up too. surveillance shows some run out behind him to help pin the suspect dunn and when art berry return to his bus. >> i remember them asking me did i catch them n between breaths i said yeah. >> reporter: well deserved round of applause and thank you from the victim, first in that moment and then later again. >> ironically on the way home i think it wasespy last trip i seen her again. first thing that went through my mind if i didn't do nothing and she got back on my busy wouldn't be able to look at her in her face. i wouldn't be able to do it. i was happy with the fact i faced her and asked her was she all right. >> victim was all right. artberry is relieved in one was hurt. he has been on the job for 28 years. >> good job. still a head on "eyewitness news" this morning the phillies have a red trip
