. live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs "eyewitness news" at 11:00. on "eyewitness news" country music star kenny chesney reaches out to a wounded police officer from folcroft delaware county after a miss shap at last night's concert in philadelphia. chesney mistakenly told the crowd that dorman had died. officer dorman was shot seven times friday and is currently being treated at penn presbyterian medical center in university city. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is there with more on chits's apology and some new information about officer dorman's condition. trang? >> reporter: natasha, miraculously, officer dorman is doing so well that friends and colleagues tell me he could be released as early as tomorrow, that's just three days after she was hot multiple times. he is expected to receive a hero reception on the way home: the

man now known as the delaware county legend, injured folcroft police officer christopher dorman taking a call from kenny chesney. he's a big fan of the singer. >> it brought it spirits up a lot by him call him. >> reporter: 25-year-old officer with one year on the force was shot seven times and survived. before the shooting, he was planning to attend the concert on saturday. chesney called to apologize after mistaken's telling them that he died from the injuries. >> before he passed away he did a video. he wanted to come tonight. he said kenny, please don't forget me. philadelphia, the eagles football stadium.

please don't forget him. >> sounds good to me. >> reporter: they say it was an understandable mistake and it's fridge. >> it was nice of him to do that and this mishap happened and it's not a big deal. every police officer can take it in stride. we totally understand. he called him and made it right. >> reporter: chesney later tweeted about the call he'd like to watch an eagles game and take him out for a few beers once back on his feet. i'm trang do cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> thank you very much s. also, we are following breaks news, a 42-year-old woman is dead after police say her boyfriend shot her in the chest with a cross bow. the shooting happened on the 3100 block in torresdale. police were called to the scene just after 9:00. officers arrested the boyfriend. right now detectives are investigating what led to the shooting.

76ers ben simmons is mourning the loss of his cousin after becoming the 76ers first pick. he was with ben at the draft was killed early saturday morning in hobocken. he says, quote, i'm glad i can share his moment of my life with you. to disturbing video several people are in the hospital after protesters clash in sacramento, california. cbs news joe vasquez tell us us who was fighting and what sparked the violence. >> reporter: an all-out brawl broke out between right wing she says her group was trying to stop members of a white supremist group.

the situation turned violent. people in the crowd threw rocks. police in riot gear and officers on horseback broke in. the two side clashed again as they left the area. people wearing all black with faces covered and wielding sticks went on the attack. others use d fists. of at least seven people stabbed. officials say others in the crowd suffered cuts and bruises. the organizers, the golden state skin head had a permit but the rally never got started before violence broke out. >> they're saying they're nazi is absolutely false. >> the counter protesters say they wantedi to send a message hate will not be tolerated. so far, no arrests have been made. joe vasquez, cbs news sacramento california. we're turning to weather after a beautiful weekend, looking ahead to the start of the work week. let's check in with kate

fehlinger. >> things -- i feel like you couldn't have asked for a better weekend. it was so beautiful with the sunshine, nice warm for the standard as basically where we should be, couple degrees above average but the low humidity, that, to me is what makes it the bonus. you bank on the humidity this is time of year. we didn't have too much of it. it was beautiful and still on stormscan 3 it might as well be a snapshot. this is three-hour loop with the satellite over top. it's basically telling you it's crystal clear. the temperatures will have a chance to drop off to comfortable levels forego the air conditioner feel free. it's going to feel comfortable here. we're already into the 50's in a couple spots. millville 59 right now. out lying suburbs off to the north and east. low 70's generally little cooler

in mt. holly. that said. you can't get too used to this by tomorrow we start to see the humidity ramping up. that, my friend is a sign of things to come. eventually a new cold front is will cross through. maybe a spotty shower or thunderstorm in the poconos mountains. with the humidity and fresh round the thunderstorms, we will track those for you later in the broadcast. in the meantime one thing that stays somewhat steady is going to be the summertime heat. that will be a running theme for us through the forecast and much more on the seven-day later in the broadcast. natasha back over to you. >>. residents meantime are bracing for more rain and flood ravaged west virginia. heavy rain is impossible in areas already badly damaged by the flood which killed 25 people so far. many residents are still staying in shelters and some calling the flooding the worst they've ever seen. .

tonight firefighters in california say a deadly wildfire may have claimed a third victim. possible human remains were found in a home destroyed by flames. crew are working hard to contain the fire but their work is far from over. >> surveying the damage for first time, the family found little here to savage. >> i was pretty much ready to see it all gone but when you drive up through at the neighborhood disease like everything is nothing is there. >> he was hit especially hard by the fire where flames wiped out entire blocks of homes. crews are now working to restore damaged power line as homemade signs in the area praised fives for their efforts, more than 1700 of them are battling the blaze now devoured more than 36, i acres forcing massive evacuations. >> you can't do nothing. >> officials continues to tally up the damage in the fire zone

women tried out for the '6ers dance team today. at the philadelphia college of osteopathic medicine. those who make it on the team will not only perform during the team, they will represent the 76ers organization throughout the community. good luck. the winners of the philadelphia triathlon are celebrating tonight. a weekend of racing, running and swimming around the city came to a close at fairmount park. thousands of spectators clear cheered on the athletes. a 25 mile seenic bike ride followed by a six-mile run to the finish line. >> we first started, were he could barely even swim 25 yards. now we can swim the full mile without stopping. >> she likes to do things saturday morning at ridiculous hours to get up to do those things. so it's we've been able to spend

through. we're drawing moisture north in the form of predominantly southerly wind flow, not necessarily windy. you can see how much warmer it is. little rock still right now at 85 degrees, that building moisture is going to lead it to feel a little stickier with time at the local level. let's go ahead and track this for you. so we start the day off tomorrow, notice your time stamp 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, rush hour full swing. some of the modelling will see a bit of cloud cover. but look lukes a nice day. starts to turn must goier. you can see the leading edge of those storms. by the time we hit the evening, it looks like some about to pick up quick shower, tuesday it starts to get dicey out there with more widespread showers and very likely a couple of thunderstorms. and then looks like that system

going to be pulling away and skies start to clear through wednesday. let's bring it back to due point. lower the due point, drier the air, the better the hair day, dry air mass feels comfortable. that's how it still is outside. at the worst in dover at 64 on the due point temperature, 56 in philadelphia. not bad at all. so super comfortable for the standards and heck when you're in the 40's, in trenton, that is really, really nice. but we look ahead to tomorrow. and starting to get a little steamier, especially through the afternoon. the due points could even spike as high as 67, 68 degrees. so that's where it does definitely begin to feel a lot more muggy. we'll take you through the overnight. leave the air conditioner off. drop it down to 62. starting off with sun then clouds start to rebuild, humidity starts to go on an up tick and we may sea the shower or thunderstorm by tomorrow especially toward nightfall. tuesday is the day that i would
