♪ >> live from the the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". there's still no claim of responsibility for the deadly terror attacks in turkey. but turkish officials are blaming the islamic state. thanks for joining us i'm brooke thomas. >> i'm jim donovan. the death toll from the coordinated suicide attacks in istanbul is rising. more than 40 people were killed and more than 200 wounded. tina krause reports from london. >> reporter: travelers and

workers raced to safety just moments before one of several explosions ripped through the airport in istanbul. another video shows an tack kerr on the ground after police apparently shot him. seconds later, he blew himself up. >> he opened his shirt there was bomb here. >> wow! >> yeah. he reached down and after one explodes. >> reporter: u.s. intelligence sources say the terrorists were armed with grenades, suicide vests and automatic weapons. assailants opened fire at the entrance to the international terminal. dozens were killed and more than 200 people were wounded. president obama called turkey's president to offer condolences and promised america's support in the investigation. airports around the world immediately beefed up security following the attacks at turkish authorities are blaming on isis. just this week, the u.s. state department warned u.s. citizens about increased threats from terrorist groups throughout turkey and to avoid travel to southeastern turkey.

now that's raising questions about what authorities may have known ahead of the attack. >> certainly seems to suggest that there was additional information available to the u.s. government and certainly to the turks that there were threats. >> reporter: airport in instant bull has reopened as investigators try to determine if anyone may have helped the bombers. tina krause for cbs3 "eyewitness news". u.s. airports including in our area have increased security following the attack in istanb istanbul. at philadelphia international airport "eyewitness news" talked to passengers who were not in instant bull but traveling overseas. one person described going through extra layers of securi security. >> just makes me really nervous. it could happen anywhere, it could happen at any time. i was glad to have the extra security. it wasn't a big deal. but it obviously takes more time. it makes you think a little bit more about wanting to travel internationally for sure stay with "eyewitness news" as new details emerge in the terror tack in tougher co you can find updates any time online at cbsphilly.com.

turning now to campaign 2016. both presumptive presidential candidates are reacting to the istanbul bombing. republican donald trump says, he'd like to see a return of water boarding to interrogate terror suspects. trump is also calling to renegotiate international trade deals. democratic hillary clinton called trump's trade plan easy answers and misleading promises. she said the istanbul bombing show that america cannot retreat in its fight against terrorism. a new multi national poll says 59% of europeans surveyed have confidence in clinton compared to just 9% for trump. a quinnipiac poll of likely u.s. voters has clinton and trump in tie. local lawmakers gathered in philadelphia in observance of the national day of action to disarm hate. >> organizers say the call to action is a continuation of last week's unprecedented sit-in on the house floor. interesting today it was asked if the june 22nd sit-in was a publicity stunt by democratic legislators and to that congressman bob brady said, yes, in many ways it was and that it's not a bad thing because we're out here talking about it. now, he and congressman brendon boyle were among those who sat in protest of overall inaction towards strength and firearm restrictions as they he pertain to terrorist swatch and no fly lists this all came in the wake. orlando nightclub shooting. this event today at city hall broadened the conversation to advocate for cities and their ability to implement their own gun laws. gun advocates have said that those out to commit crimes will not abide by such laws any way. to that congressman brady feels there's no harm in making the gun mind process more thorough. >> make eight little harder for them? just a little bit harder. if you're on watch list, on terrorist list, can't we make a little harder and not give them multiple clips. make them stop and reload. something that can stop them. can't we make it a little harder for them? that's what we're

trying to do. nobody is saying don't buy guns. >> reporter: those out here today pushing for what they call common sense gun laws. as for that sit-in, some republicans have been critical it saying it actually stalled the legislative process by turning a bipartisan effort into a partisan issue. reporting live from city all, alexandra hoff cbs3 "eyewitness news". thank you so much, alex. orlando shooting victims will be remembered in camden county later today. the board of freeholders will host a march for love tonight at 7:00 o'clock in cooper river park. the march is intended to spread a message of love and equality while showing solidarity for the 49 people murdered inside the pulse nightclub. also, this noon, camden police are searching for the suspect who stabbed a cab driver overnight. we're told the driver was on duty when he was attacked a little after midnight. the victim was rushed to the hospital from an apartment complex parking lot on state and north front streets. it's unclear if he was attacked there or drove himself to that location.

east hunting tack avenue is open again right now. it was closed for the investigation of a serious accident involving a trash truck. a 53-year-old man was rushed to hahnemann hospital after the trash truck hit a light pole and flipped. another person was taken to temple hospital. there's no word yet so far on their conditions. it happened about 10:00 this morning on the 1200 block of east hunting park. the cause of the crash is still under investigation. down the shore it appears at least one of atlantic's casinos will go on strike this friday. that's according to the president of unite here local 54 bob mcdevitt. he says the union wants to make sure casinos continue to offer december zen middle class living wage for workers. adds though, talks continue with ballies caesars, harrah's, tropicana and trump taj mahal and other casinos would stay open. turning to weather now after foggy start in parts of our area, we're enjoying bright skies this afternoon. let's get a first look at the forecast with meteorologist katie fehlinger life on the cbs3 sky deck. hello, katie it. >> sure has brightened up, jim. good afternoon everyone.

as we have seen the skies brighten up it is really feeling comfortable outside as well along with the brightening sky the humidity has also dropped off and it feels so comfortable out here. very comfortably warm but not oppressive in in nay. let me take you out to the maps. frankly not a lot of heck happening on storm scan at this point. no storms to track that's for sure this is going to essentially be a running theme for us for the next couple of days. there will be a new front that eventually crosses through which we will discuss later in the broadcast but for now as we take look here at the area dew points remember the lower that dew point gets the drier the air mass is. it may still feel just a tad muggy to you across some of most counties and like dover, or wildwood but when you start to see these dew points dropping into anywhere from 60 or below, so lehigh valley, reading, you know, it feels really really comfort al. with such a modest wind out there as well. you couldn't ask for more. just lovely afternoon. 81 degrees ac as well as here in philadelphia the report from the airport.

brokovich keeping tabs on an environmental and health concern in our area. she's teaming with local law firm now investigating water contamination in bucks and montgomery counties. our justin finch tells us what happened at a community meeting on the issue last night. >> reporter: pack house at upper moreland high monday nig night. more than 1,000 residents from the horsham, warminster and warrington areas. >> you know, got to bathe in it, you go the to drink with it, cook with it sought people are concerned. >> god for bid something happens down the road and then you just wonder, you know, could i have done something? is it because of this. >> reporter: the concern chemicals traced to fire fighting foams used at military bases near impacted areas in bucks and montgomery counties. >> i was just talking to a firefighter they've been using that foam for 20, 30 years. i think he said, and um, the foam that goes into the ground goes through the springs and goes to everyone's area. >> reporter: law firm weiss and luxembourg has been carrying out its open probe gathering

back on "eyewitness news", u.s. stocks moved higher in morning trade investors worries because last week's brexit vote eased european leaders in brussels belgium for second day of emergency talks over britain's decision to leave the block. outgoing prime minister david cameron was told not to attend today's session before going home he insisted the country would not turn its back on europe. scotland, however, is represented at the summit and it is pleading its case to stay in the european union. meanwhile, news of the uk's vote to leave the eu has rattled financial marks worldwide. but it might be great for summer travelers. airline fairs from the u.s. to places like london and rome are their lowest in years. some airlines are offering a 1 dollar airfare with strings attached. there are surcharges and taxes of course. still the cost of the tickets are normally half of what they normally are. >> whenever you get through with all of the security fees, the total is about 678 for fall travel. >> a top economist says for

travel sake the dollar will buy the most it has in years. so if you want to see big ben the vatican or the eiffel tower this fall, book it now. toyota is recalling more than a million cars because of defective air bags but they are not made by takata. 1.43 million cars worldwide affected. among them the prius hybrid, prius plug in. the lexus cf200h is also inclu included. model years 2010 to 2012. the problem is a small crack in some inflaters in the air bags that may expand which causes the air bags to partially inflate. a bill to ban using drones in private surveillance is head to go the pennsylvania state senate. the state house voted unanimou unanimously for the bill yesterday. anyone found guilty of using a drone for private surveillance would go to jail for up to three months, and if it's their first offense they would be fined thee hundred dollars. a similar bill died in the senate during the last alleges lidge session. how about this? it was like

a police chase out of a movie in houston tuesday. an officer jumped out of a chopper to take down a suspect. >> take look at this. the burglary suspect was on the run in an open field when the police helicopter swooped in. the chopper through low and used his down draft from its rotor to slow down the suspect, then a sergeant in the chopper jumped out and tackled the suspect. police officers on the ground then moved in to help make the arrest. love that toe stuff. get a load of that wild weather in denver fast-moving storms dumped buckets of rain and hail. 4,000 customers were without bail and delayed on the game at coors feel. the grass was covered in hail. crews eventually clear the field and the game got under way. that's mess to clean up. >> a mess. it is june. >> and it looks like snow had fallen there like it's a pile of snowballs out there, right? >> pebbles. >> exactly. >> i want it to be sunshining. >> we got you cover. it looks really good here. >> june is a happy month. >> it is usual system for our area for sure. we have nice weather to wrap up the month. wet weather to kick start july of course. >> of course.

>> it will be a little blip on the radar. i promise you. overall of course you've got the holiday weekend coming up here. everybody is crossing their fingers for dry weather and i think i can deliver for you. >> hallelujah. >> i love to be the bearer of this kind of news. you have no idea. let me take you outside. one more look at storm scan. it's pretty clear at this point. we had the frontal boundary bring through nasty thunderstorms yesterday and those are thankfully now well out to sea or well off to the north and you don't have to worry about any more wet weather here at the local level. at least not right now. and in addition to that if you have yet to step outside trust me, it's worth it if it feels so comfortable right now. absolutely stellar afternoon. a couple of clouds starring to build their way back in but we're not looking ahead to any additional wet weather just yet. we go to tomorrow. we're talking clear as a bell here it's going to be -- promise to be an absolutely gorgeous sunrise. we'll promise to bring that to you. in the form of many field cameras tomorrow morning. in the meantime by thursday night you'll start to see couple more clouds billing in here. wet weather holds off by friday

our neck cold will be moving on through. what it lacks in cold air it will make up for some moisture to work with here. even as early the time we're on the air on this show at noon it's not even a little sooner a couple of showers to dodge but it look like the radar will start to fill into the afternoon at this point i don't expect any kind of major severe weather so that's a good thing there could easily be heavier pockets of rain wip this and certainly a lot of people just trying to get down to the shore or to wherever your destination will be for the weekend you may have to wet weather to dodge. let's get it out of the way while we can. and then enjoy the beautiful weekend. by the time we hit saturday that front is clearing out and we'll keep that sun around it look like right through the holiday. perfect. let's go ahead and take a look how things look right now. as kutztown middle middle school partly sunny skies. couple patchy white clouds. beautiful afternoon that wind is very very modest it's mainly turning more out of the west at this point. you can see that reflected in the arrows here. some spots still picking it up out of the north but generally speaking that wind flow is turning westerly helping to

usher in the drier air but even though we've got the wind flow, you don't have wind necessarily it's a hint of a breeze and it feels just awesome outside. let's take to you the beach next as we go through the rest of the afternoon. you'll see some sunshine overhead. high uv index despite a couple of clouds but the rip current risk is nice and low. sunblock required and swim near a lifeguard is always a good thing thankfully the rip current risk is low and become sunny here. turning less humid already. 84 degrees the eventual high for us in the city of philadelphia. meanwhile we take you down i-95 to chester and union have their own cup match in the hunt for that cup and they'll continue on here with more sunshine to enjoy for kick off. real quick check of the seven day. here you go. holiday forecast look at this. saturday, sunday, monday. and heck let's throw tuesday in there too. 80s sunshine. really the one day that you may want to think about having some wet weather is friday everything else looks fantastic. >> little sprinkle i can handle that. >> oh yeah. >> and we need the rain once in awhile. one out of seven.
