needs to be fixed, and what you need to know to survive, the rough commute. good evening, i'm ukee washington. jessica has the day off. it is travel emergency, septa says they have never faced anything like this before. our rahel sol machine joins us live from center city with more on how septa plans to get passengers through this commuter crisis, rahel. >> septa says they were not expecting this at all friday morning, a septa employee, realize there had was a problem with one regional rail line, and soon septa realize that had problem actually affected the entire fleet. >> this is unprecedented. >> reporter: for 135,000 daily regional rail septa customers, tuesday could likely be the start of a new morning routine. >> saturday schedule normally requires 92 cars, to provide services on a hourly schedule for most of our lines except for the airport and paoli line with 30 minute service. >> reporter: due to structural defects found or cracking in the main system more than 100

silver liner five railcars are out of service. the issue is resolved with the manufacturer, regional rail lines will be running on a saturday schedule. passengers should also expect crowded trains. >> i got to leave early, leave an hour early and rather, be where i have to be an hour early then be late. >> even when there is enough cars there tend to be times when it is really crowded and inconvenient for us every day riders. but we will make due. >> reporter: septa says they will be running more frequently on their other forms of the transportation such as broad street line and market frankford line and encouraging passengers to use those, they are also offering free parking at former naval hospital in south philadelphia on paterson avenue, 1600 spots there and then 300, 601 north columbus. >> i did get a text from work, i work for independence blue cross and i'll machine age. it doesn't matter. you know, i'm pretty self

chester counties, wilmington about to see light rain developing. this isn't anything too heavy and then gets in the city within the next half an hour or 45 minutes. we will see off and on period of rain, throughout the overnight and that could get heavy especially after midnight tonight and with that a flash flood watch in effect for majority of the region with the exception up toward lehigh valley and poconos. areas in the flash flood watch could see localized flood if you go you get stuck under a heavy shower or possible thunderstorm. the best chance to get this well after midnight probably between 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. tuesday morning. general rain amounts, half inch to an inch but if you get stuck in the heavier downpour we will see more than that. this will slow things down. also it will be slow with showers around. temperatures right now, in the 70's, pretty muggy out there. shore temperatures same deal right now, currently 72 degrees in wildwood, atlantic city airport also coming in the mid 70's.

through historic areas of the city, thousands of people coming in from all across the country to take part. and from the city to the shore the beaches were packed with people enjoying fun, in the sun, and in ocean city. even people who live in the shore town year round say is there something special about spending independent day, on the beach. >> just came down here, great weekend. you see all of the people out, kids down from new york city, and they appreciate it, and just love it is all about independent, you know, crazy. >> all right. for now show is still on for tonight's fire works show in ocean city. it is not just an ordinary day at the beach in wildwood, our cleve bryan is their life where the excitement is building for a big tim mcgraw concert on the beach, cleve. >> reporter: all day licensing we have been seeing this stream of people going from the boardwalk, and concert venues, most of them, dressed

red, white and blue wearing cowboy hats getting in the holiday and country music theme. we have not seen any rain. that has been tremendous so far. we're hoping that this will go off without a hitch. tim mcgraw is set to take the stage in a little while. and celebrating america's birthday wildwood has you covered this fourth of july. >> everybody is pump, ready to go and see tim mcgraw in the country concert. it will be great. >> reporter: city officials expect 40,000 people to attend the tim mcgraw show making it the biggest beach concert in the sum inner wildwood. >> it is great. it is an entertainment value that we need to compete with everybody else out there. this is i think the beginning of a long relationship with this type of events coming here. >> reporter: mayor hopes this patriotic holiday includes better behavior then the last. he was fuming after memorial day weekend when hundreds of beer cans and or trash covered several blocks of the beach.

you know many in south jersey are heading to the waterfront to celebrate america's birth the day. annual freedom festival is taking place with the perfect view of the delaware river. have heavier rain that will develop later tonight still off to the south and west. off and on showers throughout this evening and then heavier stuff after midnight when flash flood watch goes into effect. seventy-five allentown. seventy-two millville. everybody in the low to mid 70's. barbecuing at this hour in the backyard with the suburbs, it is warm, little muggy but certainly not on the hot side when it could be this time of the year. that will change over next few days. humidity creeping up tomorrow we will call it steamy, same deal on wednesday. then oppressive on thursday, and friday. if you don't like heat, humidity you will want to stay inn doors and air conditioning is working because you'll need it. shore forecast, that is good place to be for next several days to cool off. tomorrow morning showers gives way to sun 48 degrees. sunny day wednesday, very warm at 86. then thursday maybe dodging a late day sure or thunderstorm at the shore, the scattered stuff don't cancel beach plans, it is hot, 88 degrees. off and on through tonight at

we have a warning from police in newark delaware. a man tried to abduct two women within a few hours of each other. first attack happened at colonial gardens apartment on east main street. four hours later another woman was attacked right around the corner outside main towers. in both cases, man grabbed would the men from behind, but he ran away when women for the back, police only have a vague description of the suspect. philadelphia police are looking for person who tried to blow up, an atm in philadelphia's strawberry mansion neighborhood this morning. it happened outside of the barber shop on the 2500 block of lehigh avenue. police say no one was hurt and no one got cash. bureau of alcohol, tobacco firearms and explosives, is investigating. we will be right [ ghost voice ] the name your price tool

a special moment today in audubon as the fire department unveils a new 9/11 memorial more than a decade in the making. the crowd applauded as sculpture was unveiled next to the audubon firehouse.

center piece is steel recovered from the north tower. one of the speakers of the dedication was audubon resident lou geecardo. he was working on the eighty-seventh floor of the south tower, his speech moved some in the crowd to tears. >> i have done other speeches of people that didn't know and asked people, and my family, probably over half this crowd, my emotions, excitement and love was just amaze. >> steel beams on display showed scars from the 1993 world trade center attack, they were damaged in that explosion but fix. thanks so much for watching "eyewitness news" at 6:00.
