we get some relief from the heat. meteorologist, katie fehlinger live outside on the cbs-3 skydeck with a look at just how hot it will get today. katy? >> certainly on our way, that's for sure, jim, brooke. good afternoon, everyone, actually start today see couple of grace clouds, billowing in here, right over philadelphia. eventually couple of scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire up. and that will actually help cool some communities down. won't necessarily be widespread, but you can expect that to start happening within the next couple of hours, in fact, we take you out first here to quick peak at storm scan3, already, starting to see a few pop ups right on the tail end of the loop. see that over the poconos, lehigh valley, as of yet, just clouds, over philadelphia. but, again, we start to see the radar fill in with just trickles of green over the next couple of hours, meantime, we mention that excessive heat warning here is heat index values soaring to around 100 degrees, for the urban corridor specially. meanwhile, here's what it actually feels like right now. there you have it, folks, feels already like it is flirting with 100 in

philadelphia, feeling like 102 in dover and it feels like the 90s in almost every other location, so very steamy afternoon currently unfolding, we do expect, how much, as we mention, to see couple every scattered showers, thunderstorms come along the way here, perfect pool weather unless you hear thunder, of course if you do, head inside, spend g temperatures to spike to 95 degrees later today, so on our way, we think, to another heatwave here, we hit 95 yesterday. we expect to hit it yet again today and tomorrow. we will expect to do it once more, hit the mid 90s, that is. average high of 87. it is summer after all. not completely out of the orders area to see temperatures like this, but throw in the humidity, of course, all bets are off, and feels so much steamier. coming up a bit later in the show we'll expect when the relief comes. as i speak couple of raindrops starting to fall on the skydeck, with that said, guys, we send it back to you and head on in where it is dry. >> indeed get inside, katie. if you need help beating the

"eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live in norristown montgomery county with the latest, greg? >> reporter: jim the 78 year old comedian expected any minute to the courthouse, hearing begins 1:00. in fact few seconds ago, his attorney team arrived here, walked right through the front doors, and specking the attorneys to ask the judge once again to force his accuser andrea constand to testify against cosby on the stand. bill cosby was last in court on may 24 for his preliminary hearing. it is there his attorneys asked the judge to throw out the case, and his accuser andrea constand did not appear at the courthouse to testify in person. instead, police red long ex

persons from constand's decade old police statement, pennsylvania law states victims don't have to testify at preliminary hearings. the cosby's attorneys argue constand's statement is riddled with inconsistencies, and legendary comedian has the right to cross-examine and question his accuser. this all stems from alleged incident at cost bee's cheltenham home in 2004. there, constand, who considered the 78 year old, said, she was drug and molested by cosby, she notified police in 2005. cosby's team says he gave her benadryl and the relationship was concentual. once again this hearing begins promptly at 1:00 and the community and 78 year old cosby required to attend, we'll be it -- inside the courtroom and provide you details at 5:00 and 6:00. i'm greg argos, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks greg for the update. stay with "eyewitness news" for continuing coverage of bill cosby's appearance in court this afternoon as soon as the judge makes a decision, we will have it on

firearm and reaching for his wallet. and the officer just shot him in his arm. >> he remains, as they held him. >> i told him to get his hands -- >> you told him to get his id, sir, and his drivers license. >> castile died at the hospital where friends and family gathered to mourn. >> basically modern day -- we see it going on, except getting kill on camera. >> family members say castile was a cafeteria worker at nearby school. here at the scene, community members have left balloons, signs, and flowers, in his honor. >> the shooting also sparked protest outside the governor's mansion overnight. >> shocking, you know, it is not something that occurs, you know, in this area often. >> minnesota's bureau of criminal apprehension has taken over the investigation. ashley roberts, cbs news,

minnesota. >> meanwhile the justice department is investigating another police involved shooting. this time the shooting of an african-american by police in baton rouge, louisianna, con front take was caught on camera. thirty-seven year old alton sterling was armed when, tuesday night, the shooting prompted demonstrations across the country, including center city philadelphia. >> they said we couldn't come out here without burning up our own building, without tipping all the curse, but this is murder and this is baton rouge, louisianna. >> there is a consistent amph people saying this is what we feel, it is any community's duties to respond. >> graffiti artists in philadelphia also referenced the shooting, the message rest in peace alton sterling turned up on southbound i95 near 676 this morning. >> sixteen year old girl continues to recover from a gunshot wound after being hit by a stray bullet in the city's juniata section last night. family friends told "eyewitness news" the young woman was walking home with

her aunt and four year old cuss whip they passed a group of men at the intersection of o and lycoming street. the friends, who wants to romain anonymous, says the men started arguing then after seeing one of the men had a gun the girl ran off. >> i guess she turned around to run, already had gotten her, she was in so much shock, and the one with the shooting, and so that's when it hit her like i just got shot. >> the girl was taken to st. christopher's hospital where she was treated and sent home. >> police say a 24 year old man who was shot in the chest and taken to aria-torresdale may have been the intended target. they are still investigating. >> there is new surveillance video of the man wanted for trying to abduct two women in newark, delaware, we just received this video of a man walking outside the main towers on main street. police say he tried to grab a woman as she got out of her car around 3:30 monday morning, few hours earlier, another woman said she was attacked outside colonial gardens, just around the corner. both women fortunately fought back and escaped, police are

still looking for the attacker. >> septa riders who want refunds for their weekly and monthly passes because of this week's delays have until today to return their passes. delays and crowded trains have been the norm for commuters this week while defective rail cars get emergency repairs, some trains bypassed crowded platforms. septa says they're still working on making the best of a tough situation. >> right now, trying to study patterns of what people are doing. because a lot of people that are taking one form of transportation coming, might not take the same transportation going. so our big thing is we're trying to get those trains back in service. >> also, today's heat is forcing speed restrictions on the tracks. septa officials warn the disruptions could last for another one or two month. so let us know about any problems you are having with septa just use the #cbs3 commute. >> contractor working in upper merion township may be responsible for a gas main leak. chopper three was on location shortly after officials arrived at made encouraging lane and prince frederick streets. police tell us they were

>> the countdown is on, now just 18 days left until delegates start arriving in town for the convene shown, and we just received these new road closures around the wells fargo center during the convention, beginning noon saturday july 23rd, until friday july 29th, there will be no traffic in the north or south lanes of broad street, between packer avenue and the navy yard. there are also some closures in nearby neighborhoods, and restricted access, and we'll have clearer look at the closures on "eyewitness news"

beginning at 5:00. >> fbi director james comey on capitol hill right now answering questions from lawmakers about the hillary clinton e-mail investigation. on tuesday, comey recommended charges not be filed against the presumptive democratic nominee and now house republicans want to know why. cbs correspondent craig boswell reports from capitol hill. >> did hillary clinton lie? >> house republicans grilled fbi director james comey about his decision not to recommend charges against hillary clinton for using a private e-mail server during her time as secretary of state. >> did the fbi investigate her statements un oath on this topic? >> not to my knowledge i don't think there has been a rival. >> do you need a referral in congress to investigate her statement under oath? >> sure do. >> you will have one. you'll have one in the next few hours. >> on tuesday, comey blasted clinton and her aids for being careless, but did not recommend criminal charges. yesterday, attorney general,

>> she gave it the thumbs-up. busy ceo will be announcing the launch of rita's paper funds restorer benefit alex's lemonade stand. that will was so cool all around. >> good for her, refreshing. >> yes. >> 7:00 in the morning! >> so hot already at that point, we didn't even hit 9:00 in the morning, already well into the 90s or 80s in a lot of spots. now topping off at 90 plus degrees in some spots already. as you saw, i was out on the skydeck, couple of raindrops start today fall on the end of the hit. so these pops ups are starting to do just that, pop up out there. only in a couple every spots right now, where you do see showers, thunderstorms today, they'll potentially douse you very briefly cool you down very briefly, already happened in philadelphia, take you right outside, show you what's happening from storm scan, you got to look closely guys but few speckles there, in fact, we zero in on couple of them here on storm scan, and it all highly, highly localized across portions of mercer county across the delaware and

out into camden county we do have couple of showers that are currently rolling through, also, through the lehigh vale, even just clipping portions every bucks county right now. so, that's what we will see sort of bubble up as the rest of the afternoon wears on, meantime, though, it is still very, very toasty and very humid outside and with all of the moisture to work with in the atmosphere, any of the storms that pop up quickly again a lot of moisture that could douse you, here are the actual air temperatures right up and down i95. you can understanded why the excessive heat warning where you have most of the heat. it is 91 degrees right now, let's compare to what's happening back toward say birmingham, little rock, actually hotter here, than it is in birmingham, alabama, that tells us the core of the heat shifted east, charleston. ton in at 19 degrees, yes, very warm afternoon for everybody. if this looks similar to

yesterday, there is a reason, essentially carbon copy yesterday, today, and joined this point for now. avoid strenuous activity now through 4:00 p.m., when the height of the oppressive heat will be at its worse, wear the light colored loose fitting clothing and keep the kids and pets cool, everybody can be affected by this, so just take care of everyone including yourself. meanwhile, hot, humid pattern, folks, but there is cool front on the way, watch this. you see how this starts to sort of cut itself off across the canadian boarder? this is the next cold front that's going to nudge through here saturday t bridges with it shower, thunderstorm, i'm not saying it will really cool things down, but does knock the humidity back, by the time we hit sunday, monday, so that's where the relief comes inment and even though we do heat right back up into the early part of next week, we can at least rest assured that we are going to not have to deal with the worse of the humidity. air quality, still, unhealthy for sensitive groups do have
