breaking news out of dallas texas this morning where five police officers have died after sniper shootings during a protest downtown. six others were hurt, today is friday, july 8th, 2016. i'm brooke thomas. >> i'm jim donovan. we'll get to the break news out of texas in just a moment. first, under excessive heat warning, here's kate way look at the forecast. >> once more looks like broken record in terms of the forecast today, guys. once again, going to see that excessive heat take grip. that warning still in effect for all of the counties that had been in effect with the excessive heat warning, the last two days, but this will be the day that expires. so there is eventually some relief on the way. we start it off with quick check on storm scan, remains

empty, hint every ground clutter showing up, very moisture laden air mass once more, here is a lock at the warning for you again. i know it begins to start to sounds almost like the movie groundhog day. every single day in the last few had looked very much the same. where we start off with not just the excessive heat warning but steamy air, it is very warm right now, only at 80 degrees, this hour, 4:31 in the morning, just 08 degrees at philadelphia international airport. we may drop few more degrees before the sun officially rises but regardless don't need jacket on morning like this, that winds remains very, very calm. stowe will feel awfully uncomfortable. now, yesterday, we hit 94 officially at philadelphia international airport. we expect to hit the exact same temperature later today. that will officially make it our latest heatwave. the average high is 87. so not terribly far off from where we should be, but regardless, when you factor in the humidity, certainly the fact that it is a handful of degrees above average, it is awfully toasty outside. so take care, we'll have heat safety tips for you throughout the show. >> thank you so much, good morning, everyone, looking outside on the roadways right

now, still very early, only 4:30, like katie said, another warm one, already the 08 degrees mark at 4:32, traffic levels looking as they normally should on a friday morning, ben franklin bridge, this is what you are looking at, moving into the westbound direction, i will say construction is here, can't see it in the camera shot, but it is both directions three lanes open in the eastbound side, one lane open on the westbound side, and this is just lingering out there, until the 5:00 hour mark. so, another half hour and that should be moved out of your way. looking at the at 95 south around cottman, looking at the s curve, looking like it should, schuylkill, nice and quiet. accident in horsham, county line roadblocked, blair mill road, meeting house road. use an alternate. street road would be your best bet. another 15 minute, a lot of news this morning, brooke, over to you. >> thank, meisha a we begin this morning with breaking news this time four dallas texas police officers and a dallas transit officer are dead. and more are hurt.

>> that's after an ambush during a demonstration over recent police-involved shootings. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live in the cbs-3 sat center. justin, we are hearing all of the suspects in custody at this point? >> jim, that's right. sister station in dallas is confirming the information this morning, the investigation it will ongoing. but, harrowing news to wake up, to as you mention, four dallas police officers dead, and one dallas transit officer also killed. with one suspect reported dead, police confirm they still have other now in custody. about 8:45 p.m. dallas time authority say gunfire rack out as a rally protesting the deaths of al ton sterling of luis anna, and castile of minnesota coming to a close. both black men were shot and killed in police custody earlier this week. dallas police report the shots were fired, from elevated platforms, causing crowds below to scatter, what some are calling sniper style ambush, targeting officers on the grounds. investigators report that they've three suspect in

custody, one woman, three men, all found in the same downtown dallas parking garage, some leaving in a car. and after the gunfire was over, officials braced the city on the suspect search. >> we still don't have a complete comfort level that we have all the suspect. so we will continue a very, very rigorous investigation and search of downtown, we will likely to be working throughout the early morning hours of friday until we are satisfied that all suspect have been captured. >> downtown dallas is now being called a crime scene, officials expect to slowly reopen buildings and street over the next several hours, especially now possible explosive device on hand. we are still learning the scope of this attack, we'll have updates for you throughout the morning. brooke, jim, back into you. >> thanks very much, justin. >> the us justice department

says it will monitor the investigation in minnesota where a police officer shot philand innocence co castile this week. the video burr to see is very graphic. diamond reynolds live stream her boyfriends' final moments after the shooting outside st. paul. reynolds said they were pull over for a broken tail light. standing at a rally outside the governor mansion yesterday, reynolds explained why she kept the camera rolling. >> i want everybody in the world to see what the police do. and how they roll, and it is not right. it is not acceptable. >> police say they attempt topped give castile cpr but he later died. minnesota's governor mark just vowed justice will be is herred. >> would this have happened if the driver passengers white? i don't think it would have. >> and last night hundreds gathered to remember castile at the school where he served lunch to 500 children every day. authority identified the officer involved in the shooting as officer injury on

mow janez, placed on paid administrative leave. >> the department of justice investigating the police involved shoot that left alton sterling dead in louisianna. the community is now coming together. last night, governor john bell edwards led a prayer service, 2 miles away a mural has been painted at the place where police officers shot and killed sterling. his family is calling for justice, and change, nationally. >> if you don't care there is something wrong with you. we can't run from this any more. we have a problem all over this country. >> meanwhile, we're now learning a homeless man-made that 911 call that led police to the the response in which sterling was killed. sources tell cnn the homeless man approached sterling as he was selling cd's tuesday and asked for money. man persistent, and the sorts sayings sterling told the man to leave him alone and then showed him a gun. the man allegedly called 911. officers responded and during the confrontation that was caught on camera sterling was shot.

>> now, sometime in the next 30 minutes, we are expecting president obama to address the shooting of those police officers in dallas. we will carry that live when it happens. yesterday, speaking to reporters, in poland, the president called the deaths of sterling and castile tragedies and says the country should do better. >> when people say black lives matter, that doesn't mean blue lives don't matter it, means all lives matter, but right now the big concern is the fact that the data shows black folks are more vulnerable to these kinds of incidents. i just ask folks to step back and think what if this happened to somebody in your family? how would you feel? >> the president also said community mistrust of police makes it harder for the officers who are doing a great job and the right thing to do their job. >> black lives matter activist plan to protest this evening in philadelphia marching from

the corner every broad and ear toy city hall at 5:00 p.m. >> last knit protests went into the night. clergy members who are in town for the international ame church convention led a march. alexandria hoff shows us how the peaceful demonstration unfolded. >> it was less of a protest than a collective prayer, that began at 12th and arch. >> we pray that our march will represent our protest and represent the fact that we as a people are tired and we can't take it any more. >> around 6:30, hundreds began to walk. the call to action prompted by two deadly police shootings this week in other part of the country. it was a different scene than yesterday's protests throughout the city which prompted police action and blocked traffic. but the message was the same. >> we have a policy. we have a protest agenda. most of all we are people of faith. >> this march 1 every both unity and outrage. >> i am out here today because i'm upset. >> the crowd made stops throughout center city.

friday morning, that is. specially this early, looking really quietment ben franklin bridge, you were experiencing some construction both directions three lanes were open on the eastbound side, one lane open on the westbound side, that was scheduled to clear at 5:00. good news for those of you taking the ben franklin bridge. it is already cleared. accident, where we've got it, county line roadblocked at blair milan meeting house road. street road probably your best bet. then construction out there this morning, guys, new jersey turnpike southbound between burlington mt. holly at route 73, two right lanes block, this is going to lift at around 6:00 a.m. so towel put one that through the 5:00 hour. more construction here as well, 422 westbound between san towing and and arm and hammond boulevard. one lane blocked there. >> meisha, if you are just waking up with us, breaking news in texas this morning. >> five police officers are dead after a sniper opened fire during protests in downtown dallas. this is a live look outside the hospital where other officers, who were also shot,

an update on breaking news from dallas, five law enforcement officers have been shot and killed, and other injured after an ambush during a protest over recent police-involved shootings. four of those killed are police officers, the other victim is a dallas transit officer. three suspect are in custody. another suspect has taken his own life during a stand-off with police. >> the time now 4:49. time for a check on business news. >> that's right, money watch's jill wagner is joining us live this morning from the new york stock exchange, jill, the jobs report for last month is coming out in a couple of hours, what are economists thinking? >> reporter: so the big question today is did hiring pick up in june after a drastic slow down in may.

so, economists really opportunity know if may was the start after bigger trend in the slow-down in the job market. or if it was just an out lie err, may's shockingly weak report was one reason that the fed did not raise interest rates in it last meeting, analysts are expecting employers added about 173,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate picks up a bit to 4.8%. so again, comes out before the opening bell today. >> jill, i lover my low gas prices when i fill up at the pump. i'm hearing a rumor they could be around for awhile. what's behind that? >> reporter: yes, oil prices plunged after data showed that oil inventory fell a little bit less than expected, so that means there is still plenty of supply, as you just said, the good news there gas prices will be falling, triple a says they'll likely go even lower. and new numbers what americans are doing with all of the monday that i they're saving on gas, according to jp morgan chase, they're spending a lot of it, back at the gas
