deal with the train troubles. >> today is sunday july 10th, good morning to you. i'm rahel solomon. it is supposed to be a beautiful day out. let's get right out to kate bilo in for justin dray brick, kate, just did our pet segment, beautiful day to walk the dog, take it for a run. >> absolutely, we haven't wanted to get out too much over the past few days, so humid, so nasty out there, and the dogs don't like it either. but today, the pets will be loving tonight. this weather outside, definitely great day to take your furry friends for walk, or take a pet for a walk, get out, enjoy the day, definitely not the kind of day where you break into immediate sweat. five minute after stepping out the door. center city looking beautiful. "skycam 3", live, deep blue sky, framed by the skyline, it is just a great start to the morning, not even cloud in the sky right now. take a quick look at current conditions, across the region, you can see, where looking at 73 degrees, right now, in philadelphia. winds are out of the northwest at 5 miles an hour, it feels like 73, as well, because dew points are in the low 60s, right now, not too bad. that means, it feels pretty close to what the actual temperature is. you're not getting those heat

index values that we saw late last week. a look at what's going on storm scan3, system departing over portions every new england, there are some wrap around showers along the back edge of that, for up-state new york, portions every new england, can't rule out stray sprinkle specially in the poconos, but most of today will be rain free and pleasant. let's talk about future dew points, something we've been talking about dew point, in the 70s, today, this afternoon, weaver dew point generally low 60s, upper 50's, through the afternoon hours, tomorrow, even better with dew point in the 50's, all day long. low humidity, specially for this time of the year. so get by the pool, if you know someone that has a pool pick up the phone, give them a call. sun's back, eight a degrees today, uv index nine, make sure to grab those kids, slatter the sunscreen all over them. i know my kids try to slip out of my grip but torn today lots of sun, mid 80s, nice breeze, i'll tell you how long the nice weather lasts coming up. >> kate, thank you. right now, we know that police are looking for one person after a shooting on rising sun

avenue. it happened in the 4800 block around 6:00 this morning, police say two men began fighting over a woman, and when officers arrived, they saw the two firing at each other. one was arrested but the other ran off. again, still, has not been caught. right now, police are loose looking for the person who robbed a wawa, at gunpoint, just after 4:00 this morning. it happened in the 6,000 block of harbison avenue, city's wissinoming section. police say a man with a american flag bandana over his face walk in and pulled a gun before running off with cash and cigarettes. no one was hurt. >> well, some good news this morning, for rail commuters. septa's row leasing new rail schedule today, that will include additional trains. cherri gregg, from sister station "kyw news radio", is live at 30th street, and tells us when these changes will go into effect and where these trains are coming from. good morning! >> reporter: good morning

a look at this board, only few late trains, most of them are on time. but, that won't be the case tomorrow, even with the relief. it is only limited relief. take a look at what our regional rail custom verse been dealing with, over the past few days, delays over crowded wait, luckily, monday morning septa's effort to cut deals to lease three trains, that's from amtrak, and new jersey, and maryland transit authority will begin paying off, easing burdens end on commuters, but the additional seats will only provide limited relief even with the additional trains, septa still faces 11,000 plus seat deficit on it regional rails, unfortunately, there is no quick fix for this issue, with a third of the septa regional rail fleet, five lines were repaired, these problems could

persist through labor day, commuter bet snyder said she is adjusting to the changes, for the past week, hasn't been easy. >> been little frustrating. a lot of lateness, one day it will be on time, next day it will be like 38 minutes late, something like that. so, today, i can't get there until an hour and 15 minute later. >> now back out here live, septa officials say the agency is adding more local service, they'll increase parking, extends rush hour service, and add shuttle buses, as well, hopefully providing some relief now, as i mention, those 1700 additional regional rail seats go on line tomorrow, and septa will be releasing that updated schedule today. it still hasn't been released, but we'll provide you with all of the details on cbsphilly.com. live at 30th street station, cherri gregg, "kyw news radio", for cbs-3, "eyewitness

news". all right, cherry, thank you. >> this morning, two people are in the hospital after an overnight crash on the ben franklin parkway. it happened near the intersection of north 22nd street, just after 3:00 this morning. firefighters say the two people were taken to hahnemann hospital. no word, though, on their condition or what caused the wreck. >> this morning, at least one person has been arrested after a police brutality protest in philadelphia. that demonstration took place last night, and ended at the 24th, 25th police district in juniata park. investigators say that person that was arrested had a spotlight at police helicopter overhead. no word on specific charges. >> this happened as crowd of about 300 people marched about 6 miles from fair hills to the police station, demonstrating into fatal police shootings in minnesota, louisianna, "eyewitness news" reporter tran dough was there, and tells us for the most part the protest on without -- protest went on without incident. >> are you tired? are you tired? are you tired?

>> a multicultural crowd came together at the corner of north mascher in west came bro an in fairhill for the fourth protest in as many night in philadelphia. >> whose streets? our streets. >> philly coalition for real justice included some demonstrators, who rallied against police brutality for decades. >> nothing that's changed, if anything, it is getting worse, nothing that has changed. only thing going to change is the people. it is not going to come from their establishment, it is going to come from the people rising up to put an ends to it. >> dozen of officers were on hand to ensure that no one got hurt. as the crowd spread their message to the street of north philadelphia. >> it is what we do every day, we're here, regardless whatever the message is, here to make sure everyone is safe and goes home safe. >> ♪ >> she has three songs, two youngest joined her at the rally. she said she fears for their safety. >> i've got a son, almost

6-foot four, and he could be label at any given time, and i fear for his safety, as well as the other children that are growing up in our community. >> a group of about 300 ended the night outside the 24th and 25th police districts in juniata park. where a line of officers waited to receive them. at one point, protesters yelling at officers directly in their faces. tran dough, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> five officers in st. paul, minnesota are recovering this morning, after being hurt during confirm takes cents with protesters. police say at one point they had to use smoke to dis pushes the crowds. demonstrators shutdown part of i94 last night as they made their way, they say some protesters started throwing things, including fireworks, and so they responded by using smoke. dozen of people were arrested. interstate reopened about 2:30 our time this morning.

>> and few hundred protesters gathered at police headquarters in baton rouge, louisianna. the protest was tense, as police in riot gear cleared the road to let traffic pass through. a police spoke man says officers confiscated two fire alarms, made several arrests. don't on straight earls of course are protesting the fatal shooting of alton sterling, at a convenience store sparking lot last week. still ahead, local police dumped department, emphasis on community relations. >> and we love stories about coffee in the morning, and this is a great one. pat gallen shows us how local coffee shop is acting as a classroom for college student. first, here's kate. >> and if you are headed out to get your morning coffee this morning, you may want to sit outside and zip it. it is a good full start to beautiful sunday. lower humidity, more comfortable temperatures l how long will this sunday i stretch last? that's the question. i'll have the answers when we come

>> with support for police officers in chester county, someone delivered floral arrangement to the move coventry, they did want to remain anonymous, but it did include a thank you card. >> well, we've seen the tension between police and many communities play out across the country this past week. but, local city has taken major step toward fixing that. cbs evening core upon dent demarco morgan reports from camden, new jersey. how are you doing? what's going on? >> camden police sergeant, ralph yell thorton, has been an officer for nearly 20 years. thorton, who grew up here, now commands the neighborhood response teams, training officers to get out of their patrol cars, and engage with members in the community.

>> and you're going to have to fight and scrap and earn the community's trust. >> in 2013, camden replaced its entire police force, once plagued by deep doubling etiquettes and corruption. fewer desk jobs, squad cars, because they want more boots on the ground. >> you can't just see a criminal. you can't. you got to see a man. and you got to have respect for each other. >> camden's new training emphasizes de escalation. >> drop the knife. >> they point to this incident captured on police body camera last year, officers kept their distance, and talked to the man, to drop his knife. lieutenant kevin lutz says the officers eventually used non-least al force, which is all apart of their training. >> that probably would have ended in a deadly force encounter, and the officers were able to communicate, provide distance, time, cover.

>> lieutenant said service weapons, tools of last resort. they say the new training is paying off. over period of three years, homicides are down 52%. >> not everybody is going to be able to be de escalated, but through the training, if we're able to have them thinking morally, thinking acting ethically, more often deadly force encounters can be avoided. >> just four years ago, camden known as one of america's most dangerous cities. last year, president obama praised the department for its effort to build a better relationship, with its community. demarco morgan, cbs news, camden, new jersey. and joining us again, kale, laughing earlier about how i waited an hour yesterday. >> it was good ice cream. >> better have been transcended ice cream? >> ya. >> today probably even better day to wait for an hour for ice cream. >> i would say ya, or maybe finds a place where you don't have to wait an hour for ice cream, but if it is the best ice cream you've ever had, go

for t we waited five minute for ice cream and it was worth t but i didn't get the fancy stuff you got, so maybe that's part of it, but yes, beautiful day to get some ice cream, take the kids out, have picnic outside, or maybe do some exercise, i know i didn't want to go out running last week, too hot, too humid, almost dangerous to be out there exercising, today not so much. great day. no excuses at all. you can't put the runoff, that was nice convenient excuse i used last week, but can't excuse myself today, beautiful day, nice open sidewalk, in bethlehem. taking nice jog, my sister in lawn, in bethlehem, was marathon runner probably out hitting the pavement this morning. and take a look, looks great. great day for shopping, too, along main street there. live neighborhood network at the beach patrol headquarters, looks good, thought i saw someone caring a boogie board, thought i would see our first beach goer of the day, but still looks pretty empty right now. so head out now, you have your pick of the beach. in margate, i bet this camera in about five hours will be completely different with people, just all set up enjoying what is a beautiful

beach day for the entire region. cape may courthouse looking towards the ocean, looks good, lots of sunshine out there. great day at the whitfield elementary school in reading north and west serbs, temperatures right now, warmed into the low 70s, in most spots, at 71 in wilmington, up to 78 now in cape may, 71 hammonton, 71 reading. i would guess 78 little warm, but they started off the morning bit warmer down the shore as well. so there is that >> start the loop over in here, see right about here, the lehigh valley, after about 9:30 last night, got some pretty heavy rain, strong thunderstorms, those have since cleared, and we've got but the full conditions through the the rest of the sunday, now notice the clouds try to pro lip late, this afternoon couple move clouds, maybe stray sprinkle off to the north and west, not going to be quite as beautiful as this morning is.

it feels so much better out here, like you said, blue skies a treat with the weather we've had in the past few days, had heatwave, of course, yesterday, clouds, a drizzle start to the morning, then strong thunderstorms in the afternoon. today much different watcher we expect, heading into a sunday, storms, heat, moved on out. sunny, breezy, beautiful. real nice breeze right now from the north to the west. making it feel even cooler than the thermometer indicates. and, coming up i'll tell but when the heat returns, because it is july, and the heat eventually will return, today seasonable, but back to the 90s late next weekment storm scan3 showing showers over portions of new england, those are starting to move away. otherwise, we've got clear skies across the region, and not even cloud in the sky, looking for one, finding zero, we may see few clouds pop up this afternoon, but all-in-all looks like great day. temperatures cooler than they've been ocean water

first thing, monday morning. >> just few delays on the arrival board, but hasn't been the case this past week, take a look at what our commute verse had to deal with. since tuesday, regional rail custom verse seen delays, over crowded trains, and skipped stops resulting in long wait times. >> will ease burden earn with one third of the trains out of commission even with the additional trains, septa 11,000 seat deficit on regional rails. unfortunately there is no quick fix since the problem could persist through labor day, says the agency is adding more local service, will increase parking, extend rush hour service and add shuttle buses, as well, hoping to provide some additional

juniata police precinct. that protest took place last night. investigators say, the person shined a spotlight at a police helicopter that was flying overhead. no word on the specific charges the person is facing, but, it happened at 300 people protesting police brutality, they marched about 6 miles from fairhill, to the 24th-25th police district in juniata, some people, though, also showed up in support of police. and this weekend there have been protests across the us in the wake of the deadly police shoot this is week, in st. paul, minute society, a dozen of people were arrested about 50 in fact, after protesters began throwing fireworks, bottles, rocks at officers. had to shut down portion of interstate to clear the debris. wendy gillette report on several other protests from around the nation.

the national convention in philadelphia. the democratic party has announced major change to it platforms. the party has added a 15-dollar per hour federal minimum wage. that's a victory for bernie sanders, the 15-dollar federal minimum, one every his pledges during his campaign, republicans, however, say, raising the minimum wage would actually hurt the working class. because, it would raise costs for businesses and load to job losses. >> well, the latest economic report on philadelphia tax revenue shows major increase in alcohol sales. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, find out what is fueling the boost boot, who benefit the most. >> double digit, been very, lately, been very, very bus. >> i the growth. >> like this, uptown beer garden, say they're selling more beer, liquor, than in years past.

>> just explosion of tourism in the city and pop up beer gardens. >> the tax on drinks sold making it mark, sass controller allen. according to numbers from his offers, revenue from the liquor by the drink tax alone is flowing freely, up $22 million in the past five years. >> city officials says that's about 5 million more pint of beer that have been sold compared to 2011. olympic size swimming pool, double the size of this one. >> tax must be paid by any establishment that sells alcohol by the drink, such as hotel, restaurant, bars and even some caterers. after it was enacted we didn't want to pass the increase over to our customers, so we completely absorbed that tax. >> does it make you feel better the money is going to the school district. >> if it is, if it does go to school district it makes me feel better. but does it? >> money raised from taxes on alcohol, cigarette, real estate, among other,

>> face the nation coming your way cbs-3, but joining us with a preview, live in washington is the moderator and cbs political director john dickerson, john, quite a disturbing week we've had. good morning to you. >> good morning, rahel, yes. very tough week, and we're going to try to, well, we will give you the latest on what's happening in dallas. we will talk to the mayor there, about the aftermath at that horrible shooting in dallas, but, that wasn't the only bad news from the week. also, going to look at the shootings in baton rouge, and outside st. paul, and have a conversation about the relationship between the police and the community. we're going to talk with everybody, who has got voice in that conversation, we start with the homelands security
