there today. that's going to help fuel some showers and storm later on this afternoon, into tonight. we're dry now, though, so the morning and most of the afternoon should stay dry. just going to have some clouds around, still enough sunshine, to really heat us up. and then some of the showers off across the midwest will start to move in here late this afternoon into the evening hours, all from cold front that's going to be tracking eastward, so best chance to see the showers and storm will be specially north and west of the city. some of these could be strong, maybe even severe. with some heavy downpours, gusting wind, that's going to slow down travel for the evening commute. but key word here is scattered showers, storms, not everybody sees it. but look at the high temperature, 95 for philadelphia, 88 at the shore, 84 in the poconos. looks like the shore makes it through the day without any showers or storms, until later tonight. we do have some relief coming at us for the middle of the week. if you don't like the heat, don't miss this forecast. we'll talk about it in a few minute, head back to the studio. >> good morning, happy monday to you, happy monday to all of

you at home. roads are looking pretty good. blue route, baltimore pike, you can see, kind i would say steady stream of headlights coming in our direction, it is holding steady here. looking pretty good anywhere on the blue route that we've been looking this morning, 202, taillights northbound direction approaching king of prussia. look at this guys, looking great. sky, gorgeous, 202, looking good, as well. 422 headlights eastbound direction, this is past observation, this area, also looking good, a lot of vehicles now i would say just slowly creeping on the interstates, highways, probably busy machine day morning specially cracking the 6:00 hour. overall casino every holding steady where we are right now, see the change like i said in the 6:00 hour, do have construction, passyunk avenue bridge, or it will be having intermittent stops between nine a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for those every that you use that bridge. also construction here, we have bridge inspections, schuylkill eastbound and westbound between university ave. and vine street expressway. take a lock at this, westbound the right lane between nine a.m. and 1:00 p.m., and the

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch live at the glennside station, so, justin, what do riders need to know? >> jim, brooke, good morning, yes, some new information for regional rail riders, starting today, five new cars are hitting the rales, meaning, that riders here should have a better commute in theory getting in at five area regional rail stations including this one, changes that septa hopes will better serve riders as they look to repair entire fleet of rail cars. >> commuter service septa expect the extra trains to help ramp up service on its bus years line for the morning

and evening rush. starting today, where we are now, lansdale-doylestown, manayunk norristown, paoli thorndale, anwar minister lines, will hopefully see less train crowding and fewer full cars bypassing them at peak travel times. for the past two weeks it has been the new normal. septa now down 120 silver liner cars, first introduced between 2010 and 2013. bark on july 1st, september an inspector noticed car leaning heavily, then found it had cracks in the load bearing suspension beam. then, more similar cracks were found. >> homes to get them back. >> we will not be replacing the entire train, it will be affix, looking at both can we have ain't err i am first as well as long-term solution, they are the things to be considered.

died. >> a gunman ambushes several police officers in baton rouge, killing three of them. this morning, we're learning more about the suspect gavin long. investigators say long was a decorated exmarine, and he exchanged gunfire with police officers at a gas station. the officers were responding to reports of a suspicious person, dress in the all black, with a gun. officers killed the gunman, on the scene, cbs news has learned, long rented a white chevy vehicle last week, and drove to baton rouge. >> we're mourning right now. you know, every time you lose an officer, but you lose three officers in one day, one time, just traumatic. >> baton rouge a city on edge since the shooting of at ology sterling two weeks ago. >> body found in the shock river inlet believed to be of a 17 year old diver, who went missing over the weekend. the inlet in monmouth county, new jersey. state police say remains found

at the base after bridge yesterday afternoon, the 17 year old was spearfishing when he went missing saturday. he was not wearing scuba gear. the coast guard was also involved in this search. >> this morning, investigators trying to figure out what caused a fire that tore through an apple bee's while people were eating dinner. it happened at the bustleton restaurant of roosevelt boulevard at around 6:45 last night. it took firefighters an hour to get the fire under control, crews say the restaurant staff was able to keep customers safe. >> self-evacuated, did excellent job getting everybody out of the building, prior to our arrival. first arriving company, smoke on the roof, small fire inside the front door. >> no one was hurt, the cause of the fire is not yet clear. >> a car show just wrapped up this weekend like christmas in july for car lovers. >> soul riders auto club hosed ninth annual christmas in july car show sunday, even santa was there, took place

the mid 90s, on we check in with backyards from weather watchers, already seeing a lot of mid 70s, showing up, and there are few cool spots, just north and west of the city, we go up to eileen murray's house in bill bert ville, has 63 degrees, so that's not too bad. humidity on the rise, and go closer toward some of the philadelphia suburbs, in new jersey, clementon, david dutch checks in at 74 degrees this hour, he has clear conditions, depending where you are, see few clouds move in from time to time. down to delaware, let's check it out. new castle county, middletown, 75 degrees, with clear skies, right now, and humidity continues to be on the rise. so let's talk about the humidity factor, scale here being some people call this the in-law scale, the longer they stay, the more insufferable. humidity wise oppressive. gets better tuesday and wednesday, the day to be outside, if you have outdoor plans, it will be pleasant. low humidity, and then thursday starts to creep back

up, and then full-on heat, humidity, starting friday, into the upcoming weekend, the reason for the drop in the humidity later on it, cents just from cold front. now the front still out well to the west. near chicago. of course this won't work on a monday morning, but all right, we'll get through it, showers, storms, continues to push eastward today, eventually later this afternoon specially north and wets of the city, we have the chance for few scattered showers and storms. shore forecast, 88 degrees, a lot of sunshine today, ocean water down to 69. still feels good trying to cool off. southwest wind will kick up this afternoon, so that will bring in nice little cooling effect for the afternoon hours along the shore points. slight risk for severe storms, mainly berks county, lehigh valley, north and west. so those are the best chances to seat thunderstorms, main threat will be heavy rain, gusty winds, maybe even small hail in some of the storms. >> let's time it out. 2:00 broken line of showers, storms, roll into the lehigh valley. they kind of break up even more around the city by 4:00 and 5:00. still could run into shower, right around that evening

commute. and then later on tonight, things start to quiet down, tuesday, maybe few morning clouds, giving way to sunshine, humidity just drops during the day. but hot, humid today, up to 95 degrees, this afternoon, watch out for the showers, storm chances this evening at 74. here is the he can tended forecast, go mid 90s, stretch of eight's, eight an in the sun, but mid 90s returning by friday into next weekend. meisha, what's the latest on the roads? >> justin, things looking pretty nice out there. i would say it is just slowly starting to heat up. and it sound like our evening commute earth might be dealing with little rain later. make note of that. hopefully looking nice and dry. and gorgeous. ninety-five, headlights moving in the southbound direction, this is around academy, you can see it is looking good there both directions really, i would say interstate 95 actually looking okay, starting to heat up little bit around the s curve around cottman, overall looking good. ben franklin bridge, slow coming from jersey into center city looking good there. plenty of headlight out there, i will say on the scene a lot, more headlights now than even just 15, 20 minutes ago.

man was stranded after his car flew 400 feet over an embankment in santa monica. the man was able to dial 911 on his cell phone, but when rescue workers arrived on the scene they had no idea where he was. >> he contacted 911 through his cell phone, but he had very little battery left to his cell phone, as unit got up closer he was honking his horn on his vehicle and we were able to figure out where he was just by the sound of his horn. >> smart thinking. firefighters used a rope system to pull the driver out. he's recovering right now in the hospital. >> well, new report says, your child should be getting sex education from their pediatrician. >> the american academy of pediatrics says, doctors can help ensure getting information they need about issues of sexuality. chris martinez explains. >> if you had to use -- >> fourteen year old ryan, annual checkup with his pediatrician, includes a
