a check on weather and traffic with katie and meisha. good morning. >> katie, welcome back. >> thank you to be back, feels good. >> good morning, guys, lots of construction out there for your friday commute. tree trimming going on on the turnpike. >> thankfully it is dry outside, and will stay that way all day. i see you wore your excessive heat dress brooke, it matches very well with the map i'm about to tell youment excessive heat watch, head into our saturday morning, so it will be a hot one, guys, as we mentioned, the kind of heat that we haven't actually seen in quite a while. essentially region wide, lancaster county, poconos, only counties not going to be involved in this excessive heat watch. at the moment just muggy outside. you have some clouds out there certainly, it is quiet at least initially, and it is going to stay that way, throughout the day. the big story again, continues just to be the heat. we're off to very mild start.

it is not hot necessarily, but it is uncomfortable, to start the day, sin we do have higher dew points, it is again muggy, humid outside, low mid 70s up and down i95, slightly cooler by comparison further inland you travel. going throughout the day temperatures heat up very efficiently, very easily, nice strong solar angle, plenty of sun to go along with it, turning slightly more humid as the day goes on, by 3:00 p.m. flirting with 90, in the sunshine, all day long, it means it will be a hot one, this is just precursor for the worse of the heat that wait in the wings as the weekend is upon us here, meisha. >> katie, thank you for. that will i never want to complain about the heat but we know when humidity will be the levels it is this weekend, it will be hot. guess what, it is friday, we made it, construction, 59 north off ramp to cottman, see the crease, hopefully it gets cleared out of the way within the next 30 minutes, it typically does. and then we're talking about some tree trimmingment i'll

back out of the way. see the crews out there, pa turnpike both directions onramp from bensalem, intermittent lane closures until 5:00 a.m. then also route one southbound at the turnpike, there is activity there. make note that far as you are waking up, jump on the turnpike this morning it, might slow you down ever so slightly. all let you know when it clears hopefully around the 5:00 mark. more construction 202 northbound, left lane block, southbound direction, between route 29 and route 30, two lanes blocked there. vine, the construction, there has been none this week because of canceled until after the dnc that we have going on next week. and also, construction delaware, 495 southbound, right lane closed before the ramp, as well, lot of construction this morning, brooke, over to you. >> thank, meisha a new this morning, deadly shooting in the cobbs creek section of philadelphia. it happened just after midnight on the 5700 block of locust. police say a 21 year old man was shot in the head at point blank range, and pronounced dead on the scene.

wrapped up his nomination speech. it also marks the end of the republican national convention. now the rnc of this election season has been different than the ones in years past. in many ways, jessica dean talked with evening news anchor scott pelle and how the democratic national convention here in philadelphia will be different. >> this is the first convention that i've ever seen that was not highly scripted, timed right down to the minute, there have been surprises every day, and so the trump campaign not necessarily good surprises, the plagiarism with his wife, the ted cruz incident last night, everything is going to be different in philadelphia. that convention will be tightly scripted, tightly timed, the president of the united states will speak, the vice president will speak, former president will speak, all of the top officials of the democratic party will be there. and you're not going to have that kind of floor fight that you had on the first day of

>> welcome back, a chicago police officer is expected to survive after being shot by a suspect. authorities say two officers were on bike patrol, when a person on the street told them there was a man behaving strangely. they say the officers approached the man, talking on the cell phone, and asked him to hang up so they could interview him. that's when the man pulled out a gun and fired at the officers shooting one of them in the thigh. both officers fired back, killing the suspect. >> well, colorado may be the home to recreational march juan, a but one town has found it in their drinking water. that's right, off initials

hugo, town southeast of denver, thc was found in the water supply. now, thc the psycho active ingredient in marijuana. officials have urged resident not to drink or bathe in the water, the fbi and local officials are investigating, how the water became contaminated. but, there appears to be some signs of tampering at one of the wells. >> so far no one has gotten sick. >> take a look at this chopper footage of a large church fire in mt. holly, north carolina. this was the scene yesterday as firefighters fought the massive flames shooting from the roof of the first baptist church. investigators have not determined how the 90 year old church caught fire. no one was hurt. several schools and other churches have volunteered their facilities for services come sunday. well, the time now is 4:43. >> that's right. and katie is here, with a check on our weather. is it a good weekend, katie, to spends the day indoors?

good morning, today is definitely toasty start to the weekends. we are very likely going to end up with couple of showers or thunderstorms out there, as women, so we'll talk about this in this particular hit. take a quick look at storm scan, at the moment, any wet weather at least that's nearby is pent up over portions of the great lakes region, now, lake erie starting to get in on it, that cluster that you see over illinois, don't have to worry about that, but eventually as the day progresses we'll see heat driven, frontal bound dray driven thunderstorms fire up. do sit between the lehigh valley and poconos for severe risk, marginal risk generally that said otherwise, but, any thunderstorms that fire up do have the possibility of bringing us some downpours, some gusty winds, possibility of small hail. i know it starts to sounds
