topping the list for vice president. good morning, jan. >> reporter: brooke, jim, good morning, the political spotlight now shift from cleveland to philadelphia and center stage is right behind me here at the wells fargo center. happening this morning, the democratic national convention committee will unveil the stage and podium here, all part of the final touches now being put into place ahead of opening day of the dnc on monday. meantime, a very big announcement as you mentioned, brooke, jim, expected very soon from presumptive democratic nominee hillary clinton. she should announce her vp pick as early as today. virginia senator, tim kane, and ago youth verbal, tom billsack, said to be on clinton's vice presidential short list, both as seen as having a lot of executive experience. >> hillary clinton has made indications she's most concerned about experience. and she really, i think, want to double down on experience to contrast what she views as lack of experience and lack of seriousness, quite frankly, in

donald trump's presidency. >> reporter: new jersey senator cory booker and massachusetts senator elizabeth warren were also rumored to be in the running. clinton is campaigning in florida today and is expected to make an announcement in that state. now back here in philadelphia, the clinton campaign now has a democratic party office open near 15th and cecil b. moore in north philadelphia. democratic members of city council were on hand last night to celebrate. volunteers in this office will work to get clinton elected as well as other democrats on the ballot in november. of course security will be tight here in philadelphia over the neck week, during the dnc. "eyewitness news" got an exclusive look at how the us coast guard has trained for this event, crews, from the atlantic city air station, will protect, restricted air space, during the convention, if an aircraft violates the no-fly zone, the coast guard is the first line of defense. now, back out here live on scene, on the ground, you can see, these huge fence, this fencing is all around the

we found one spent shell casing about 2 feet from the victim's body, which is an indication that the shooter was standing in very close proximity to the victim when the shot was fired. it appears that the shot was fired from point blank range, that's why the balistic evidence is so close to the victim. >> now, police are hoping that surveillance cameras from a nearby school can help them track down that shooter. this morning, a delaware man is behind bars, after police say he hit and killed a six year old girl, while driving under the influence. dover police say david randall was driving while intoxicated wednesday, when he road up on the sidewalk and hit six year old anya jackson and two other. all three victims were rushed to the hospital where jackson died. randall faces several charges and is currently being held on $34,000 bail. >> the na -- nba is moving

of 90 plus degree days. so, for the month of july thus far, actually had eight days at 09 or above. the season has as a total we've had 16, and the average for the entire summer season, of 90 plus degrees days in philadelphia; 23. we had the the average, so actually going toned up here with quite a few days, july strung together, of some pretty excessive heat here, weekend most specially, going to be the worse off. for now, things are pretty quiet at the local level on storm scan, you can see though a little cluster of nasty thunderstorms starting to move right across lake erie, don't worry about this cluster here necessarily but frontal boundary will nudge here, brink withing it couple of showers and thunderstorms, as the day progress, meantime, here we go again with the dew point, 69 degrees currently, flirting with 70 obviously, and that's about the point that it start to feel what we call quote unquote oppressive out there. so definitely muggy start to the day. the whole day is pretty steamy, however, as we speak
