hours. storm scan three is quiet, notice clouds popping up this afternoon and that is it. ninety-five for the high, we got to 97. it felt like 101, today we will not be dealing with any heat index, heat index over the actual air temperature. shore upper you had 80's. still though you want to head for shaded area if you outside and drink fluid this weekend and upcoming week. we are settle talking about heat in the forecast. we could set the new record as well for part of the work week we will let you know how hot in the seven day in a few more minutes, rahel, back to you. justin, thank you. this morning philadelphia fire fighters are mourning one of their own, fire fighter died in the line of duty in north philadelphia fire officials identified as gabriel lee of ladder company 12. he was found unconscious in the 1300 block of cam bree street and then rush to the hospital. officials say lee responded to a fire early yesterday, and then returned to the firehouse to work the night shift. police assembled last night at

temple university hospital, to escort lee's body to the medical examiner's office. fire fighters from another station, were on hand to solute the fallen fire fighter as his body was brought out of the hospital. the cause of the death is still under investigation. and in other news this morning, we are just one day away from the democratic national convention the at the wells fargo center in south philadelphia. security is tight ahead of the convention. authorities closed south broad from packer avenue down to the the navy yard yesterday and roadway surrounding the wells fargo center and fdr park are closed off as well. meantime penndot closed i-95 exit ram tops broad street last night. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live from south philadelphia where the dnc starts tomorrow. hard to believe but count done is almost over, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. count down is on. we are only a few hours away, it is hard to believe but there are many, many confused drivers. take a look behind me these officers have been here all

morning as drivers came here to broad and paterson, only to find it closed off and the officers have been giving traffic advice to truck drivers, and to delivery drivers mostly this morning hoff come down here and realized road is closed and they have to reconn figure their route. take a look at the video. this confusion began yesterday afternoon when the road closures for the dnc began going in to effect both southbound lanes of broad street from packer to the navy yard are officially shut off to traffic until next friday evening. but that is not the only area. paterson from seventh to fdr park, are closed, terminal avenue from broad to south 11th and south 11th, from terminal avenue. there are other areas where access is restricted to authorized vehicles. police will be control who comes in and out. the southbound exits, of i-95 north will be opened up at on point but the i-95 northbound

live from broad and paterson, cherri gregg for kcw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". of course, dnc hasn't even started yet but we are seeing protests. demonstrators gathered yesterday outside of the dnc rules committee meeting at the pennsylvania convention certainty. they called for an end to the parties super delegate system. meanwhile inside convention center yesterday, rules committee disputed a proposal will to end super delegates. it is a party or elect official free to cast a vote for any candidates at the convention regardless of whom voters of their state prefer and critics say it is un democratic. >> i'm a democrat because i believe in democracy, i believe in the power of one person, one vote, and we need to make sure that our party, reflect that is principal. >> the supporters of bernie sanders believe the super delegate system damaged his

back on "eyewitness news" and today is a that the the day of mourning in afghanistan following a suicide attack in kabul. isis claims it is behind terrorist attack that killed at least 80 people and wounded another 230. authorities say that two suicide bombers detonated bombs after a huge protest. the march was against a major electric power line and roof instant. afghanistan's interior ministry has issued a ban on all public gatherings for the next ten days. investigators are learning shore about the gunman who killed at least nine people on friday before turning the gun on himself in munich, germany. twenty-seven people were hurt. seth dome has more in munich. >> reporter: german authorities say the 18 year-old munich shooter acted alone, and had no links to terrorist groups, suffered from depression and was obsessed with mass killings. a search of the shooter's family apartment today turned up reading materials about mass murderers including right

wing fanatic anders brief hockey killed 77 people exactly five years ago. many of the nine victims of the friday's shooting were teenagers. the first bullet hit the boy next to me, 29 year-old hussein, told us, i tried talking to him while the shooter continued his rampage and i thought i'm next. this video apparently shows him trying to save the teenager's life. >> you weren't able to save him. >> the boy says, i cannot go on any longer. he drew his last breath. police say that this shooting that unfolded here was premeditated, that the gunman had hacked into someone's facebook page and made it a peer as if there was a promotional offer trying to lure people to the scene. the killer's body was found not far from the scene. each shot himself and had a backpack full of ammunition. so yet again, sidewalks, have been turned into somber

season so far 18. last year for entire season we did have 37. seasonal average is 23. we will probably get to that before july is finished because we are in the hot stretch. typical for the the delaware valley this time of the year and this is hottest time of the season on average but some of these temperatures are not that bad. it is cooler then yesterday. near the shore low 70's. off atlantic city 64. seventy-three in dover, delaware. cherry hill 69 degrees. the mid 70's at the airport in philadelphia but surrounding suburbs we are in the upper 60 's, chalfont, pal my, yeah malvern 68 degrees. look at quakertown the coolest spoke the on the map as well as mount pocono checking in at 64. richboro is in the upper 60's. the on you dew point temperature really tells the story this this is what you want to machine for. highest this number is more humid it is. now we are in the lower 60's. that is not bad. sixty in allentown. sixty-four in philadelphia yes , it is a humid air mass but these numbers do go up once again later tonight and

certainly tomorrow. so for today, it will be feeling humid to the steamy side, better than yesterday though, tomorrow we will crank it backup to oppressive arc lot of humidity around fueling a shower or storm. slight decrease on tuesday but still feeling rough out there, and then wednesday start to net that is humidity drop. it does stay hot for the next several days, you may not net is a difference with temperatures in the 90's. nice and quiet on storm scan three, a few clouds rolling through, ahead of the clusters , showers, storms, cold front way out to the west that doesn't come through here until later on monday bringing our next chance of showers and storms. shore forecast, sunny, warm, decrease in humidity, high of 88 degrees. tomorrow we will crank it backup to 90 degrees. shower and storm chances at night on monday and then tuesday partly sunny skies, in the quite as hot as tomorrow, still warm in the upper 80's. protected by high pressure today. weak cold front came through last night so that is a brief cool down, warm front still to the south and west. once this passes later tonight the we will start to bring

good morning i'm rahel solomon. thanks for being with us. severe weather in parts of the region on saturday. look at this damage in montgomery county. cbs-3 weather watcher, lou, sent these pictures of trees down all over west norriton. the storms did give us a break from the dangerous heat that settled over the region but temperatures are heading backup and unfortunately bear er of bad news, justin drabick, joining us on the sky deck. you said a little relief but really getting hot tomorrow. >> tomorrow we could be setting record highs. today is best day to get outside in the extreme heat if you have to. it is because of the slight decrease in humidity. it will be humid but better than yesterday. you can feel that difference already and the humidity levels may drop more, later on this morning in the afternoon. even the temperatures are cooler, yesterday it was tough to find any 60's this time of the morning but now we're seeing widespread 60's in the you the ther suburbs. seventy-five at the airport in philadelphia look at quakertown chilling in at 64
