the weather watcher. >> good morning, everybody else, we had nice temperatures earlier this morning, lower 60 's in some locations, but now we have full sunshine going on, temperatures backup to around 80 degrees in the warm spots, at least humidity levels somewhat lower, then yesterday, especially at the this time. we did reach a high of 97 degrees, hottest day so far these are temperatures this morning from weather watchers in levittown william at 68, 69 in philadelphia, at phil's house eagleville and cherry hill coming in the upper 60's and part of the northern western suburbs in quakertown got down to the lower 60's, earlier this morning but now with the sun up 77 in eagleville, levittown close to 80 degrees, still in philadelphia hanging out in the lower zero seven's. same deal in sanatoga and michael riley's house. chesterfield ed already at 83 degrees. 69 degrees still out in browns mills at maryann's house. lets go to the shore. it will be a popular place today and once again over next several days ocean city is in
8:50 am
great shape. right now we're seeing mostly sunny skies nice breeze come out of the north/north east and around ten miles an hour, so nice breeze off the ocean, there you go, people are setting up shop on the beach, full sunshine make sure you have sun block on, we have wave action that looks calm, so always make sure life guard are on duty before you head in the ocean and coastal water temperatures are down to 60's in the beaches. but 90-degree days we are seeing plenty of them in the future, as some are so far for the month of july 10 days including yesterday 18 for the season, last year we had 37 total for the year and on average for this season we will usually get 23. we will hit that number, before july is even done. today, we will call it steamy but better than yesterday. so there is that change in the humidity levels tomorrow, oppressive again, same deal on tuesday and then it starts to back off by middle of the week but still it will stay hot through the upcoming workweek.
8:51 am
humidity goes, tomorrow will be the worst of it. we are dry on storm scan three we had showers on and storms role through yesterday evening and now off shore another cluster upper great lakes. that could get in here overnight, and tomorrow afternoon we will bring better chance for the scattered showers and storm, some could be severe later in the day monday and we will talk about that, today, looks good, sunny , not as humid. 88 degrees. sea breeze will develop. these temperatures will come down mid a afternoon, ocean chilly at 64 degrees. reason for colder water is our win direction, anytime we get hot and humid patterns we will get southerly wind. when you get that parallel to the coastline because of the earth's rotation and effect warm surface the water gets deflect to the right so it moves off shore away from the coastline. so only way to replace that water is bringing cold water from below and that is what we are seeing in some locations, ocean 64 degrees off atlantic city. down to cape may, delaware beaches, maryland we are still
8:52 am
in the 70's right now. really isolated areas at this point. marginal risk for severe storms tomorrow, basically from northern delaware on northward into the poconos again potential for small hail , obviously heavy rain and strong wind gusts. keyword scatter. not everybody sees it. the lets time things out. today it is sunny, some clouds build up this afternoon, overnight there could a stray shower north and west of the city, lehigh valley, poconos that is it and then tomorrow afternoon as cold front approaches we do see line of scattered showers and strong ers storms developing late afternoon early evening, and then they come through and then we will clear out again as we head toward tuesday. heat index today factor in the humidity it feels like the air temperature is, humidity not that high today, different story tomorrow, this is what it could feel like monday afternoon, lehigh valley 102, up to 105 in philadelphia, higher then that in areas south where it is more humid. today still hot, 95 degrees in the sunshine and it the is
8:53 am
noticeably more humid tonight 78 for low in center city. cooler in the suburbs but nothing like this morning so enjoy a temperature right now. ninety-seven. that will set a new record for philadelphia tomorrow if we hit that. the scattered showers and storm late in the day. still 90's for rest of the week, lower 90's, slightly less humid, shower or storm thursday and then again next saturday, highs finally back in the 80's on saturday so this is an extended heat wave rahel. >> um-hmm just prepare for that. time is 8:53. lets check on roads with ann evans in the cbs-3 traffic center, hi there ann. >> we have some delays to tell but we are looking at i-95 northbound right at philadelphia international airport. left lane is block, police are there monitoring five-ton vehicle restriction in place for democratic national convention, now, vehicles over five tons are prohibited on i-95 between vine street expressway platt bridge from now through midday next friday also, the northbound and southbound i-95 off ramp to broad street will be closed to
8:54 am
traffic from new until midday, july 29th for dnc convention, and a number of streets in south philadelphia will be closed near the dnc convention site, the affect roadways are broad street, paterson avenue, terminal avenue and south 11th street. we will move traffic cam here, there you go to the the mid county tolls, of the pennsylvania turnpike, nice day to head to the poconos, nice, cooler up there, and no delays at mid county tolls or pennsylvania turnpike or northeast extension. that is latest from the cbs traffic center i'm ann evans "eyewitness news" will be right

record because of the records for monday are actually cooler in the mid 90's. if we hit 97, that will set a record but we have been worse over a hundred but could feel like 105 monday afternoon with the humidity and slight decrease by end of the week. still hot though take it easy, highs in the 90's. >> that sounds good. >> we will take anything, that helps. thanks. that is "eyewitness news" for now, we may be signing off on tv but we are always on line cbs philly.com. sunday morning is next. have a great day, stay cool. by finding a policy to fit your budget.
