with you. >> reunited. >> and it's pretty cool philadelphia on the national and international stage. really, really cool to be here and coming up following road closures and there's many, many of which starting now that we were not talking about last week. a lot of new stuff. certainly interesting week here in the city and starting off with a bang in weather department. and we showed you storm scan very, very strong thunderstorms right now rumbling right into philadelphia. and much of the majority of the outlying suburbs here. we got heavy duty thunderstorms rumbling in here and frequent lightning and potential for 60 mile an hour wind gusts and small size hail out of these. so these are pretty nasty storms right over philadelphia county and immediate vicinity we still have severe thunderstorm warning. once this gets through we should clear out for the majority of the day. and later on today we are going to see a fresh round of showers and thunderstorms now. at this point we have severe

thunderstorm warning shifted from west to east and south so through haddenfield, glouceste gloucester, eaveshamham, mount holly you see the severe thunderstorms until 5:45 and boxes migrate east as the storm system does the same then. we're taking a live look at sky cam three off in the distance. normally you see sky scrapers and tough to see them at this point and there you go the lightning in full effect out there northwest winld at 23 miles an hour as the storm is pushing away here. and so as the day progresses grant we're started off with stormy weather and you will see sunshine and it's still going to be hot and steamy day. excessive heat warnings as well as heat advisories continue regionwide and we'll have more on that later until the show. meisha. >> katie, we're seeing a beautiful light show in delaware county. take a look at this you guys. 95 north at 452. let's see if mother nature throws us a ball. there through government look at that guys, gorgeous, this

will slow you done a little bit and also take a look at this because we talk about all the klosh use a lot of people hitting roadway this monday morning early. only 5:00 in the morning and already we're seeing a lot of vehicles out there. 95 north and 452 coming up here looking at the airport and by the way as awe approach all those closures which there are many out there we'll talk about them throughout the morning and right now pulling your attention to so. ones on 95. off ramp to broad street north and south are closed and 95 both sgrexs between vine and platt no vehicles over five tons and by the way there's a lot of checkpoints coming seeing what's going on. north ramp off bound bartrum and southbound to the vine and vine eastbound off ramp to 95 check point there as well. schuylkill eastbound the off ramp to 7 and park avenue. there's closures between 2 p.m. and 2 a.m. daily. we'll talk about this coming up in about ten minutes. over to you. now we're following breaking news into cbs3 another

deadly shooting at a florida night club. it happened early this morning at a club called club blue in for the meyers. now this is the picture from the scene. we have word that at least two people were killed and up to 17 people were hit by the gunfire that broke out during a s so-called swimsuit glow party for teenagers and latest report from the scene says police have one suspect in custody and searching for one other suspec suspect. again two people are dead and up to 17 others shot at a for the meyers night club. and well, high hopes, high temperatures, and high trauma at the democratic national convention. >> and that's before the opening gavel. eyewitness news reporter jane is live at the wells fargo center where the convention starts this afternoon. jan. >> reporter: brook, jim, good morning we gave until here at the wells fargo center 4:00 this afternoon. there's a lot of excitement building. wells fargo will be absolutely packed at that time. you can see behind me this morning the stage is set and so

is the lineup. today's theme is called united together with a focus on the future of american families and the economy and taking stage today some very heavy hitters. first lady michelle obama and interesting enough senator bernie sanders and i say that because this morning "the buzz" in the political world still surrounds president nation of democratic national committee chair woman debbie wasserman-schultz here she is check out the stage same at the dnc. she made at bankrupt announc announcement yesterday saying she'll step down from the position at end of dnc that follows publication of hacked emails that suggest dnc favored clinton campaign over standers. now senator sanders released this statement reading in part debbie wasserman-schultz has made the right decision for future of democratic party and party leadership must also remain impartial in a presidential nominating process something which did not occur in the 2016 race."now debbie wasserman-schultz was apoyped

to the position by barack obama in 2011 and presumetive nominee hillary clinton had this to say "i am grateful to debbie for getting the democratic party to this year's historic convention in philadelphia and i know that this week's events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership."eyewitness news spoke to a number in town. many bernie sanders supporters feel vindicated and will back a third party candidate and others are calling for unity today. >> i don't think she could have been impartial from the beginning i'm glad she's willing to do that. >> she's up against the wall. she's been completely outside of the legal bounds of dnc chart to run a fair primary season. clearly not the case. >> these wikileaks give us proof that this is what happened and hopefully it's a movement in the right direction. but there's a lot of progress to go before what we're looking

sanders campaign. pennsylvania republican deputy chair renee amoore says revelations and timings are not good for democrats. she appeared last night on eyewitness news at 11. >> i want to say wow, because democrats are so critical of republicans and not being unified or whatever but they always had things going back and forth behind the scenes and it's not a good thing for them and not a good hit and especially for the first day. what else can we expect. >> philadelphia is making sure its ready for any emergency. >> the city has a war room in the emergency operations center and police say there's no credible threat against convention or city most are worried about traffic near the wells fargo certainty. law enforcement and roads are closed and banning vehicles five tons or more from a stretch of i-95. >> because there may be truckers over that weight limit that did not get that message so we're clear that that type of vehicle will be prohibited from travel ago long the routes

you eluded to. so, commuters should and that. they should be patient. >> no one is saying how many law enforce. officers are on the job but they're visible on the streets. >> if you visit philly this week you'll be glad know there won't be a strike at the airport. mayor jim kinney and governor come wolf helped workers and american airlines work out a deal with baggage handlers and airport workers they wanted clarity on sick bay pay and i right to unionize. there's no word on the terms of the deal. >> republican nominee donald trump is stumping in two battle ground states, roanoke, virginia and winston salem north caroline and athen own wednesday returns to pennsylvania where he'll ral any scranton. it shows the candidates neck in neck. trump enjoying slight bump following the national cop vengs and leads hillary clinton 42% to 41 that's up to prints

staples has the lowest prices... period. staples. make more happen. staples has the lowest prices... period. >> we're back on eyewitness news with a live looked in the wells fargo center. democratic national convention begins later this afternoon. stick with eyewitness news for coverage. authorities in germany say a suicide bomber blew himself up at a crowded music festival near norburg and at least a dozen people were hurt in the blast. officials say the 27-year-old denied asigh nrum germany was denied entry into the event and authority have not ruled out the possibility the attacker was a radical extremist. the blast comes days after an attack on munich mall. last night german authorities arrested a 16-year-old in relation to the shooting.

they say he may have known about the upcoming rampage. eight people were killed and dozens more hurt. the attacker is said to be 1 18-year-old germany rainian. meanwhile back in our area, several people are in the hospital this morning after a septa bus and tractor-trailer crashed in delaware county. it happened yesterday evening at the intersection of lansdowne avenue and providence flowed yaden and investigators say a jeep pulled out of a driveway and crashed into the septa bus and then the bus nearly slammed head on to a tractor-trailer and ending up on the sidewalk hitting two people walking by. . >> 26 people on the bus and two people walking on the sidewalk were hurt. they were all taken to area hospitals and authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. >> the hot temperatures we're experiencing can be deadly. authorities in williamsport are calling the death of girl inside a hot car an accident.

though they say nems may have been involved. police say the 4-year-old was in the car for hours friday morning. they say a woman supposed to take the girl to daycare drove to downtown williamsport and went to work instead. temperatures were in the 90s at the time. >> an investigate is underway into the death of a philadelphia firefighter over the weekend. police and firefighters honored gabriel lee at temple hospital and fire department says lee of ladder company twelve died while working night shift saturday in north philadelphia. the medical examiner is conducting an autopsy. philadelphia fire department sent this tweet out honoring lee and shows his gear at locker and reads "a great fire fighter who always gave his all and a great friend who always had your back #dedicationandservice." >> and while a pair of wildfires in california destroyed 24 homes and claimed at least one life and in other parts of country people are

dealing with extreme heat and that includes philadelphia where convention delegates will be trying to stay cool report mass every flames surrounded firefighters battling sand fire in santa clarita with temperatures reaching close to 110 degrees. crews are fighting heat and dry brush. >> you have to look at four major fires we had in the county in six weeks. we have seen fires explode all over this county. >> the sand fire raised downhill sides over the weekend destroying at least 18 homes enforcing thousands to evacuate. >> it's right in our backyard. 100 feet tall. full tornado of fire, spinning, nothing like i've ever seen close up. > this family is quickly packing up and moving out of their home and the sky behind them continues to fill with dark smoke. >> we're doing all right. we're loading up. >> what do you want to say to everyone throughout. >> evacuate.

if they tell to you evacuate leave, just go. >> conditions are not cooler from the midwest to the east coast. just as democratic national convention gets underway in philadelphia hundreds of pro bernie santers supporters are expected to head back out to brave the sweltering heat and humidity. city emergency officials say they're ready. >> we're trying to mitigate some of that by having misting tents veil and water available for them. >> heat wave will bring 100 degree temperatures to philadelphia and it will feel like scorching 108 degrees. cbs news. >> well, here at home the hot weather continues and i can hear thunder outside. >> indicatesy is here with more on dangerous heat, though. >> certainly dangerous storms rattling through. we'll turn our folk us to start thing off, guys, aep talk about what they have up their sleeve. also more heat and storms. and we'll start by taking you to a live camera. if we're lucky right on que outside we go to spring garden

and broad where it's a rai rain-soaked shot and lightning in the distance telling the story of strong cell currently rumbling through and facing east here. that's the direction that this storm is headed right now. and it continue to rumble in with torrential downpour, frequent lightning and see it lighting up the field cameras and potential for strong wind gusts and hail. as of yet have not heard reports ever hail. we'll let you know if we do. this is a nasty cell. we'll show what you it looks like. we have really heavy downpours. if you're ready to hit the road now try to wait this out if you can. i'm telling i we have had already meisha will get into this a number of accidents moving through here. we'll try to track them if we can here and zero in on what we're finding out. there let's go ahead and take a look. zero in on the cell where heaviest of rain is currently falling just east of philadelphia. and but some of these rainfall rates around cinnaminson for example are as high as two and

three-quarters of an inch per hour and you won't see the entire cell for an hour length regardless you get it a couple minutes and you're getting drenched in this rain. seek shelter if you have to head out stay inside now. meantime slight risk continues for the rest of the day and for majority of our area here as we have a cold front scheduled to cross through and bring with it heavy downpours and gusty wind and small hail as well. that's not what we're finding now it's later in the day too. there's a window of time that stays dry once the first cell cotions through in the meantime you have to talk about heat like this until 6 today we have excessive warnings in the pink and heat advisorys in the orange. everyone is included for heat index values as we heard in the report that could store as high as 108 degrees. don't go by the thermometer today. you have to factor in the humidity. up 90s makes it record day if we hit 97. 90s continue the rest of the

week but the rest of the humidity subsides. >> wow, katie all right no relief here and speaking of accidents katie nailed. it we have three accidents out there and overturned vehicle. today's report a mixed back of closures for dnc and we're dealing with weather elements first. this overturned vehicle right here really hard to see. you can see flashing lights. this is schuylkill eastbound before city avenue and right lane compromised because of overturned vehicle there. also to talk a little about the closures you're looking at vine eastbound off to 95 check point there and also added checkpoints around this area and 95 northbound off ram top bartram southbound off ramp to vine and all around there we have checkpoints and no vehicles over five tons in some areas and getting that in a moment. i want to switch gears to another accident. we have an accident 95 south pasta academy. you can see it let's see right down here blocking that left lane. this is causing significant
