>> at least nine shots were fired. >> one man is dead after a shooting in penns landing and it happened just after midnight at the corner calohill and columbus boulevard. dallas cowboys bus is involved in a fatal crash in western arizona police say the bus collided with a van killing four people in the "star trek" beyond took over the box office this weekend earning nearly 60 million dollars it was a good weekend for the movies. sure. >> not too bad for weather. i expected it to be hot. what is today going to be like. >> another hot day for sure we're already dealing with nasty thunderstorms too. there's a lot to discuss here, guys, and yet another day that it might not be the worst idea to go to the movies and just sit in the air conditioning legalities start it off looking at what is going on with thunderstorms.

we start by taking a look at one live neighborhood shots if we can. right on cue. there's so much lightning with this cell that you don't need to wait long to see the frequent lightning strikes that continue to come through here. the bottom line we have a heavy cell of thunderstorms it's a cluster moving rite over the major meto area of i-95 and all surrounding major arteries. if you're about ready to hit the road an you can wait it ou out, i highly suggest it. it's moving along long at a relatively quick clip, 25, 30 miles east and regardless we're tracking heavy rain with this as well as pretty strong wind clearly frequent lightning and very, very low with this cell later on today, though, there will be additional showers and thunderstorms we'll talk more about that later in the show. but here's what it feels like for now. tate a look in philadelphia where you actually had these storms rumble through and it does feel a lot closer to what the thermometer reads and soupier in millville and ac and

wildwood because that's where you have yet to see the worst of the dew point sort of get cooled off by that rain. and meantime we've continued to talk about excessive heat and excessive heat warning for all counties in the hot pink area and if you're not included with this you have a heat advisory. everyone is going to see some impact, advisory, warning here today. and at the shore we expect to top all the way off at 90 today with scattered light day showers and thunderstorms. that is sort of the story everywhere. they will move in west to east essentially and in philly, 97 the high. that will be a new record as long as we hit it and again some more strong thunderstorms to track as the day goes on. it's a busy day in weather for sure, meisha. >> traffic center as well, katie, thank you so much. good morning, everyone. happy monday. today traffic report will be mixed bag certainly all closures of dnc and also four accidents and overturned vehicle out. there let's get right to it and talk about it because we have rain and lightning and all that that can really slow us down

this morning and overturned vehicle here schuylkill eastbound city avenue right lane blocked because of it and slow moving on past that. accident 95 south pasta academy and was blocking left lane. now pulled all the way to shoulder. you can still see it's very, very busy around. there it's only 5:30 in the morning and right now looking like what we see in the 6:00 hour. accident here pa turn pike westbound willow grove right lane blocked there and another accident 295 southbound before route 644 blocked that area and another accident in media a vehicle crashed into a guardrail here. baltimore pike near route 452 and talking about closures this is one area. vine eastbound off ramp to 95 check point here. there's additional checkpoints 95 northbound off ram top bartrum and southbound to vine. also just remember 95 both discretions between vine and platt bridge no vehicles over five tons allowed hence

checkpoints. make note of that as well and take a look at this google eastbound off ramp closed 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily broad street between washington and packer and no parking in center median. of course all ip date this and carry you through all morning long, brook over to you. >> we are getting our first look at video from for the meyers, florida where there has been another mass shooting as many as 17 were shot earlier this morning at a teen partied in a night club. sadly police say two of the victims have died. police say they have one suspect in custody and serving for one more. again we know two people are dead and up to 17 others hurt in a mass shooting in for the meyers, florida. stay with eyewitness news for updates all morning long. in just a few hour the democratic national convention starts and philadelphia will be center of attention. are you looking live inside the wells fargo center where they will bang the opening gavel this afternoon.

a couple of high profile democrats will speak on the first day. senator bernie sanders and first lady michelle obama tomorrow former president bill clinton takes the stage and president obama and vice-president biden will be here wednesday and hillary clinton is scheduled to accept the nomination thursday. >> the convention begins one day after resignation of dnc chair debbie wasserman-schultz. the florida congress woman stepped down after the publication of hacked emails suggesting the democratic national committee played favorites with clinton over bernie sanders during the prime areayes, debbie wasserman-schultz resignation will be effective after the convention ends. >> hillary clinton and running mate tim kaine are hitting road after dnc and will visit pennsylvania and ohio. democratic ticket will talk about the economic issues which they stop in harrisburg and pittsburgh. eyewitness news learned the two candidate will appear at public rallies and smaller events and meanwhile nominee trump is

officers heard gunshot columbus avenue and calohill boulevard and officials tell us police all saw a 24-year-old man being shot and several running from the area including three male suspects. officers caught them and got the victim to hahnemann hospital he died there a short time later with gun shots to head, neck and back. on scene nine shell casings were found near ford suv and victim was getting into suv backdoor before being shot. chief inspector scott small says the suspects may have tossed gun into the delaware river and marine units are serving for the seem eye automatic weapon and look for surveillance video to fill in the gaps. >> fortunately intersection of columbus and calohill there are numerous cameras we found traffic cameras and also found businesses several bidss with exterior cameras. so hopefully these numerous cameras recorded something that can help us with this homicide

up with thunderstorms. further indlad the storms long since passed leftover clouds for fran out in the nottingham area. pretty much breeze at the moment. that said let's take you to the maps. and here we go with heavier cell. now it may not look like it's really weakened all that much. trust me heaviest of torrential rain has had a chance to ease up a little bit. it was pounding down with shy of 3" per hour rainfall rates over philadelphia within the last half hour now started to ease up a little bit. though make no mistake this is a pretty strong thunderstorm cell and it will continue trek east here to portions of monmouth county. here's a cold front crossing through and before that happens it heats up efficiently here today. eventually ending up with more showers and strong thunderstorms we will catch a break once the first cell get out of here. you will see sunshine. it's a soupy day. later on we see scattering of locally strong thunderstorms firing up again with frequent

lightning and heavy downpours. it's almost like we're on repeat with that pattern later today. in terms of records these are numbers we have to hit in order to beat it. philadelphia you got a pretty good shot of doing. it record is 96 last set in 19 1999. we're shot shooting for 97 in our forecast. that will be new number for books here and meanwhile the next few days into the 90s. it's still a scorcher of a day but it won't be as humid and likely won't have storms eithe either. >> absolutely. all right, katie, great information thank you so much and for those waking up with us we're glad you're here. we're waking it a busy morning in the world of travel now. thank you to, of course, mother nature and also dnc is in town. let's get into talking about issues that affect you more immediately right now. overturned vehicle here just starting to get cleared out of way. schuylkill eastbound for city avenue that right line in compromised and it is very, very slow around this area.
