>> good morning it is thursday july 28th i'm's jim donovan. i'm's brooke thomas. we will have those stories plus a police chase that span ned 50 miles in a moment but first katie has today's, forecast and looking ahead at storms and meisha is watching the road. >> good morning, you guys. so final day of the dnc, people are crying, rejoycing, either way one thing to re joyce about the roads. soon they will go back to normal but bear with me today because a lot of closures, police checkpoint in place. the once again, one camera and more police we have seen in previous days. >> yes, luckily right now things are quiet for weather but we will be tracking some thunderstorms across the delaware valley. that will happen in the p.m. time frame but as early as late morning there could be a bubbling up on the radar. things are tranquil on storm scan things are nice and quiet , nothing but a clear sky , couple clouds here and there but it is turning steamy and it will be yet another day we think will extend this heat wave here but eventually a

flash flood watch goes into effect and that will be for scattered, but more numerous showers and thunderstorms because we are building up so much moisture the potential for locally heavy downpours. you will recall what happened monday night, that is what will come out of the next round of showers and thunderstorms again anyone is fair game for that. temperatures as they stand right now are certainly off to the mile start. the further north they are cooler in mount pocono for example but flirting with zero seven in allentown, milder down toward a dover where we are flirting with 80 degrees, but it is another hot summer day and we will see sunshine but as humidity up creases moisture content and at the months fear builds. we will see isolated but local liz heavy showers and thunderstorms coming through as day progresses. coming up later in the broadcast i will track them give you a sense when things will evolve on the radar. for now it is quiet, meisha. >> good to now, katie, thank you. that will help our morning

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live inside the wells fargo center with more on last night's speeches, and what is ahead on the fourth and final day of the convention, jan, good morning. >> reporter: brooke, jim, good morning, today is day number four, last day of the democratic national convention , and it is the day everyone has been waiting for. timely, tonight, hillary clinton will get her moment on that stage behind me here in south philadelphia as she officially accepts the parties nomination for president. overnight here in the wells fargo center you can see crews have been working hard to re conn figure that stage to make sure everything is just right for this another historic night. last night you could see speakers brought out the crowds, stands were filled with celebrities and delegates alike, president barack obama ended a night with a speech filled with hope and optimism,

period how can there be pleasure in saying you're fired. he's trying to tell us he cares about the middle class, give me a break that is a bunch of mularky. >> biden then endorsed clinton >> some protests turn chaotic right outside the wells fargo center. protesters breached the fence last night around the convention area, police say seven people got through and they were immediately arrested commissioner richard ross say protesters were warned of the consequences. >> they were able to breach that fence. it is kind of ridiculous that we were standing right there waiting for them and they see us. it is in the like it is a surprise or they thought they were taken anywhere. this he were taken into custody. despite warnings that i issued and issued along the fence line later, they are now being charged with a federal offense >> now earlier yesterday

dash cam video catches a a police chase in oak a it happened early sunday morning as an officer was conducting a routine traffic stop when the driver hit the gas. they say moments later, kohler shane sullivan let two passengers out of the car and led police on a 50-mile chase. officers put down stop sticks and sullivan eventually was taken in custody. sound of cheers ape shouts have been common out by city hall as protesters demonstrat ed this week. >> but yesterday there was also sound of the music, from

thunderstorms and potential that they could produce some flooding as well. lets get you out there, show you what is happening, we will start off with the storm scan three which is for the moment quiet but won't stay that way. would i say as early as late this morning the afternoon and toward evening, showers and thunderstorms start to fire up and future weather is showing that very well. lets use this as a good guide. next couple hours through the morning drive, typical morning drive you are all good, you will have sun glare to deal with but it is certainly going to stay dry. even as ten this morning there would be likely bubbling up on the radar and it is a soupy air mass and it can help produce very heavy downpours thaw sometimes get this time of the year and that is exactly what we expect. even this showing up on future weather this afternoon it will be a scattered variety of showers and storms but where you got those heavy pockets you could get drenched. do you recall what happened monday night? if you were around philadelphia that point? that is what we could be

facing. we sit in the slight risk to severe weather off to the south for this particular batch later tonight there could be nasty torrential downpours, not to mention thunderstorms that accompany that and that will linger into tomorrow. with additional round of heavier downpours as a flash flood watch lasts us throughout, tomorrow evening. so it is this evening through tomorrow evening that flash flood watch goes into effect. ninety-three for the high. the it is still hot and steamy we will drop down to 75 tonight with scattered showers and storms but some would be heavy and next couple days look at this we expect to be below average, how about that for a change by sunday 84 degrees but still scattered storms. it is an active pattern, meisha. >> all right, thank you so much. >> good morning, everybody. happy thursday, happy last day of the dnc for those who may be tired of closures and police checkpoints i cannot say i blame you. both morning, afternoon and evening commute you are all getting rocked. this is what we are looking at

right now first checkpoint we will look at this morning 95 north at platt bridge give yourself some extra time. left lane is closed leading up to where that checkpoint is, no vehicles over five tons beyond these checkpoints. second one is at 95 south at the vine and third checkpoint is right here eastbound vine at 95, this camera shot is showing between broad street and vine checkpoint is eastbound vine at 95 we will see out there but looking quiet around those areas. the closure 95 ramps to broad north and southbound, southbound except for navy yard even that is closed between 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. schuylkill eastbound off ramp to packer and we have information of a concert in a little bit, brooke, over to you. as katie said there is another hot day in store for us. >> excuse me but some good news, i'm so choke up by that forecast, good way to cool off , we will tell you how to get cool treats while helping young patients at children hospitals across the country,

welcome back. time for a check as always on business news. >> money watch's jill wagner joins us live, from the new york stock exchange, good morning, jill. federal reserve wrapped up its policy meeting, any changes to interest rates. >> well, federal reserve left interest rates as is near their record low levels following that last policy meeting but fed did sound more upbeat about the economy pointing to a rebound in the jobs market last movement analyst say they are more likely to raise rates at its meeting in september. so, we will all be keeping an eye on that one, brooke and jim. i hear facebook earnings blew past wall street's expectations so they must be happy today. >> reporter: facebook shares are hitting an all time high, the social media giant made $2 billion in the last quarter , and there has been a huge increase in ad revenue when it comes to mobile

this looks like it will be where we cap off this heat wave, finally. so lets look the at the numbers here as it pertains to average, seasonal, to what we have seen so far this year. in terms of the 90 plus degree days. just this month we have had two straight weeks of 90 plus

degrees. they didn't happen all at once but 14 separate days hit 90. average for this season is 23. we are on our way to at least the average here which is this season so far hitting 22 days of the year at 90 or above. lets look at what storm scan has up its sleeves, off to the west we will see moisture up there and that will help pre tuesday in the only more showers and then are storms which could drench you in scattered fashion later today and into tomorrow but it knocks our temperatures back. we are finally getting a dose of july reality. that, of course, as we kick off month of august here too. but we are back in the mid to upper 80's where we should be so today that is last day of the heat wave, meisha but we will deal with some active weather to get back what is normal on the thermometer. >> yeah, normal in the world of traffic as well, starts tomorrow, that within so nice for our morning commuters. good morning everybody. happy thursday. happy gate the way, right. almost, almost, we can say that now.

dnc police checkpoints number 195 north at platt bridge we are getting used to this remind you fan. give yourself extra time if you have a flight today you will need it especially pushing in the five and 6:00 o'clock hour. many people are used to this, drop that left lane but with that being said it is still very busy. a lot of people still to have go to work. if you have a flight that is what you want to much was. second one, second chance one is 95 south at the vine. this is where we have a closure, at broad street 95 ram tops broad street moving in the northbound direction, southbound is also closed except at navy yard. however, southbound we are completely closed from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. schuylkill eastbound off ramp to packer also closed 2:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. this is fun. we have a concert tonight for dnc volunteers and staff, camden rising concert 1:00 p.m. patco is running every some tenth minutes from 0:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. new jersey river lines run in
