12:07 pm
seeing the clouds break, it does feel a little bit hotter than the thermometer officially reads, hey, at least it doesn't feel like it is in the 90s anywhere, dover, those poor folks dealing with triple digit values for the last several days. that's now wiped clean. now the atmosphere, unfortunately, isn't wiped clean. because we are going to still have to deal with additional rounds of unsettled weather, looking ahead to the weekends. but for now you can expect some sun, some clouds perhaps left over shower, generally if you have outdoor plans, you wanted to get out for the rest of the day, since the morning was pretty much a wash in most spots, you have the opportunity to do that. the thing is, there is more unsettled weather down the road, and it will mess with your weekend. so i'm going to tell you exactly when that gets here, what are we facing, all of the details and much more a bit later in the show, guys, back to you. >> thanks, katie. a father is in critical condition this noon after he was caught in the crossfire after gun battle driving through germantown yesterday evening around 6:00. his four year old daughter was in the car, as well. police say the little girl was

12:17 pm
the national reserve, the largest fire in california near bakersfield, called the irskin fire t burned more than 40,000 acres since sunday. and this is how new yorkers started the day. overnight rains flooded parks of new york city's borrows, in long island. this guy in brooklyn was not haague a -- hailing a cab, warning the driver to go back. despite the warnings, vehicles continued, through flooded streets. several counties in new york state remain under flashflood watch this noon. >> katie, this is bad idea, driving through -- >> all the time. sometimes you hear it adnauseum, maybe you just forget, or whatever, but if you see water like that in the road, you just don't drive-thru it, it may look safe, but you don't know what's underneath it for one thing, that aside even few inches can just sweep your car away. really mean it when we say never, ever drive-thru a flooded roadway, thankfully the flooding is pretty much a memory at this point for us. we've had a chance to drain
12:18 pm
away the worse of the heavy rain, but soaking, we showed you some of the rainfall totals earlier in the show. and it ended up with shy of 3 inches out of that batch that came through from yesterday, into today. and at this point, thankfully the sun now out, will help dry things out, still little muggy however, we can report that, as well, break that heatwave, finally. going on outside, take to you one of the cooler camera shots here, when i say cooler i don't mean not only is it awesome but also technically cooler on the thermometer, up at jack frost, big boulder, won't finds any frost, but certainly will find some cooler air in place up this way. beautiful afternoon un folding again, just touch humid, great excuse to go jump in a lake, right? meanwhile, going to another camera outside live neighborhood network, couple of clouds. beautiful afternoon, here, as well, outside middle township high school, even shadows being cast by the hire cloud deck. regardless the rain now gone. and we can say all right, see ya later, at least nor now, another system on the way which we'll discuss, heatwave as we said now broken, the average that we see foresees on of 90 plus degree days is
12:19 pm
23. and so far, now that we tacked up, or tallied up 14 days of it, so far, even just the month of july, now on par, with what's average. so still a long way left to go, another couple of weeks before summer is officially over, we may have it in clues to what we saw last year. here is the system still pushing away. may look totally innocent off to the west, trust me, more rain on the way, as another system starts to move in. so this first guy is out of here. we are going to see high pressure at least a .10 drop in, but a system nudging east. as it does so, additional showers, additional thunderstorms, some of which probably turn just as heavy as the recent rounds every rain we've had will be nudging on through. do you have outdoor plans tomorrow, you definately want to keep eye to the sky for sure, could be some thunderstorms embedded within this, even into sunday there will again be additional showers, thunderstorms, i would say pretty much any time is fair game, but specially mid to late day tomorrow.
12:20 pm
mom day, slow moving system but staying into the 80s, that's where we are right now, low 80s generally around the region as a whole, mount pocono checks in at 76, at 79 in trenton, and, if you are going to be headed down to the shore points, right now, you have got more than anything northerly wind flow, but again, not really helping to nudge the humidity down all that much, because we will see the next system move in sooner rather than later. take a look what the shore has up its sleeve for the forecast the next couple of days if that's where your travels take this weekends, again like we said, some showers, some thunderstorms to dodge, thankfully not wash out. but it is enough that it may mess with some of your outdoor plans here, by sunday, 82 degrees, the expected hi, at most of the area beaches. and looking forward, in the forecast, then, we get to the seven day in a second. wacking you through rest of the day today in philly, spotty left over shower, most of you dry the rest of the day. we will hit mid 80s, 86 heck of a lot closer where it should be for the standards. we drop down to muggy 72 tonight. here go, string of 08 plus
12:21 pm
degree days through the seven day until we hit thursday. i think it will take until tuesday before it can totally guarantee it stays dry. i wouldn't say that any day is a wash out but you got to allow for it, for pretty much every day until then. >> carry the umbrella just in case. >> definitely wide. >> have you ever wanted to appear on the young and the restless, the bold and the beautiful? now is your chance. they are holding open casting call. cbs is hosting soap opera auditions in czar just cities next month. you know philly made the list. lucky actor or actress will land a role on one of the soaps, show executives think it might add extra spice to two of cbs's longest running daytime tv soaps. >> i think the key to it is continuity. we really have had a had an aggressive interest in keeping the audience we had 30 years ago. >> open auditions are being held at the sugarhouse casino thursday august 18th from noon
