are inside the toy company here this is a toy factory connects toy factory in hatfield a second stop on the multi state bus tour through both pennsylvania, and ohio, the campaign says that the goal of this tour toys focus on jobs for the american workers. duo with their spouses made their first campaign stop earlier this afternoon in philadelphia just one day after clinton accepted her party's nominee for president. that stop was on temple's campus and 3,000 people gathered there mostly supporters to listen to the former secretary of state layout her plans for job growth. she says if elect she will make largest investment in jobs, since world war two and clinton says she will do that within the first 100 days. of course, she still has to win. that is why she also brought up the republican opponent donald trump. lets take a listen. >> there is no doubt in my mind, that every election in our democracy is important, in its own way, but i can't think of an election that is more

clinton campaign says that the focus will be on job growth i can tell you also that the important reason that they are staying here in ohio and pennsylvania, these will be battle ground states, of course, during the november election, and a recent poll by such foulke university says clinton is leading trump by nine points right now in pennsylvania, 50 to 41 but here's the kicker 8 percent are undivided and that is 8 percent she's looking to get through this bus tour throughout pennsylvania and ohio. for now we are live here in montgomery county i'm greg argos for cbs-3 eyewitness news. >> greg, thanks very much. clinton's opponent donald trump has been taking to twitter to express his thoughts, on clinton's events today, and her speech last night. one of his tweets read crooked hillary said that i couldn't handle rough and tumble of a political campaign. really, i just beat 16 people and am beating her. trump is making a campaign swing through battle ground state of colorado today his first stop a town hall meeting in colorado springs.

that have come as far away as california, idaho, florida and many of them, leave here a little bit disappointed. they say they have put time, resources coming to this area to support bernie sanders. they have enjoyed meeting other campers and enjoyed being part of the movement but they say this week didn't go the way they hope. it was time to break up tents, pack up sleeping bags and head home. camping at the state park during dnc was a week of hope, frustration, tears, and mud. >> got rained on, we are like rats. >> i'm in a emotional situation this morning. we have been sleep deprived. >> reporter: between parvin and four seasons camp ground campers said there were several hundred bernie sanders supporters staying here and one cars rear window they felt like the dnc was a sham. >> very disappointed in the democratic party right now. i saw a lot of work being done, that seemed very anti democratic. >> i feel like the corruption of the dnc is very obvious to a lot of people now.

outside for the four day event. coming up on "eyewitness news" at 6:00 our anita oh will have more on how progress is coming along. what a different a day make, protesters set up tents in south philadelphia's fdr park in the convention and now that park is almost cleared out. moments ago city officials held a news conference about dnc closing operations, mayor jim kenney said the event was a big success and helped the city shine in the national spotlight. >> i want to thank philadelphians for being such wonderful hosts. i had so many people stop me on the streets to tell me how friendly and fun, philadelphians really are, and that is the best advertising in the world. >> police say they responded to about 60 individual protests, over the course of the dnc, and out of the 13,000 demonstrators, who took to the streets, 106 were cited for various offences. eleven protesters faced federal charges for breaching the security fence around the wells fargo center. now that the convention is over, it is check out time and

"eyewitness news" at philly international airport this morning, where delegates were checking in for their flights home. many of the out of towners we spoke with shared positive reviews for both the city of philadelphia and the convention. >> i thought the convention was very entertaining, you know, well organized. >> i thought it was awesome. it was a really good opportunity for folks to be here and create some unity for the democratic party but also for people to sianni participate in democracy. >> reporter: estimated 50,000 people from all around the country took part in the history making convention. a father is in critical condition, after he was caught in the cross fire of the gun battle driving through germantown yesterday around 6:00 o'clock in the evening. his four year-old daughter was in the car with them at that time and police say little girl was not hurt but 259 year-old man was shot several times near germantown and wistar street. he was on his way home from work. >> it was right after rush hour, he was stuck in traffic,

there were two groups on each side of the germantown avenue firing shots at each other. >> victim whose name has not been released was rush to einstein hospital, and police are now reviewing surveillance videos from cameras in that area as they search for the gun man. delaware police are on the scene of the accident in new castle involving a police car, it occurred on route 13, near i295, we know two people were taken to the hospital, and 13 is closed in the northbound direction, and police are now redirecting traffic. turning to the weather now it seems to be an unsteady pattern now that the heat wave is over. we are though in a nice little space right now. meteorologist lauren casey joins us from the sky deck with a look at your first forecast, lauren. >> thanks, ukee. right now we are looking good. we have sunshine. temperatures are not too toasty but it was a soggy thursday night for am cross delaware valley and soggy start to the day as well. the let look at the total

we are getting an unusual, view of the huge, california wild fires, they are, large enough to being seen from outer space. fires have burned thousands of acres in the angeles national for's long the big surf coastline and the natural reserves. the largest fire in callus near baker field called erskin fire and burned more than 40,000 acres since sunday. well, with the hot

temperatures we have been having families are heading to the pool and the beach. >> that is right, but fun times can quickly turn tragic, when water is involve. three on your side's jim donovan has more on one way parents are helping to keep their babies safe. >> reporter: when nine month-old erin cherry fell into this pool her parents could not have been happier. that is because just seconds later that she floated to the surface and began to swim. >> she's a kicker and mover. >> reporter: even in a snow suit as part of her training with certified aquatic survival instructor dina rothman. >> accidents happen and we want to arm children with the ability to save themselves. >> reporter: she says it takes ten minutes a day, four weeks a day for a month for a child to learn to survive in water. her youngest students are six month-old. >> we're rewarding something correct and they start realizing oh, she likes when do i that. all of a sudden in a few weeks you have a swimmer. >> reporter: according to the child safety advocate group safe kids worldwide drowning

middle 80's but definitely feeling better than mid 90's for sure. we are looking good right now. we are seeing low clouds as we look live on our neighborhood network cam. cape may county, soggy night and start to the day to day. it looks ominous but is there blue skies and those low clouds are not producing any rainfall. storm scan three is showing us patchy low clouds right now over cape may county, otherwise, nice sunshine, coming down the shore right now, but we do have a few showers, working through the poconos, kind of small in nature, light in intensity they will move their way southbound but atmosphere at this point is very stable so i don't think they will have a very successful time as we head in the next couple of hours, keeping us dry. high temperatures today, we to finally break that 90-degree streak in philadelphia a, our high temperature today, is 86 degrees. we're still at 90 in reading but feeling better to day with a high temperature of 86 degrees, and dover. temperatures right now, definitely wet around our high temperature in the middle 80's to up to and around 90 degrees across berks county but down

the shore, feeling nice, a little sea breeze kick nothing there 77 degrees right now in ocean city, feeling nice in cape may at 82 degrees. forgetting a a brief break from the heat but not necessarily the humidity. dew points are up there in the 60-degree range. it is not awful but it is definitely steamy as we, head in the daze tomorrow. those dew points will drive crack up in the 70-degree range. it will feel oppressive, once again for our saturday, and into our sunday, and into our monday, as well. overnight tonight, humid conditions, partly cloudy. 73 degrees. not much breeze. just a light wind out of the south. and then tomorrow if you have chores you have to get done, outdoor jog, get the dogs out do it in the morning because areas of rain and thunderstorm will develop as we head in the second half of the day. high temperatures we will stay from the 90's topping at 85 degrees but we will watch out for redevelopment of areas of heavy rainfall. so future weather is showing us as we start off tomorrow morning, cloud around, maybe breaks of sunshine but in the afternoon, convex is really

going to getting quickly with the heating of the day, notice by lunchtime storms starting to break out especially west of philadelphia, seeing areas of heavy rainfall, some thunderstorm activity, a few storms on the stronger side, even as we head into the evening hours, still seeing these areas of rainfall, and heavy rainfall and embedded thunderstorms and we will start to quiet down as we head into late tomorrow night so we still could see activity into sunday morning. all together our weekend unfortunately is looking on the soggy side. the estimated rainfall totals project by different models. one of the models putting us up close to 3 inches of fresh rainfall as we head threw up coming weekend. storms in the the forecast for both down the shore, late day tomorrow. you might get that beach walk in the morning but otherwise watch out for those storms later in the day and poconos will be dealing with showers and thunderstorms, kind of off and on throughout the day. we will scale back storm chance a bit into sunday but still scattered storms in the forecast. we will scale it back further as we head into monday with a

florida issues a statewide mosquito declaration stepping up its mosquito control efforts. this order comes after the discovery of zika in the united states, mainland, believed to have been

transmitted by a mosquito bite. "eyewitness news" continues now at 5:30. hi everyone i'm jessica dean. aim ukee washington. these new zika cases are on the southeastern coast of florida. health reporter stephanie stahl has more on this alarming discovery about the mosquito born disease. >> reporter: that is right, just in south florida right now, officials are trying to reassure tourist they will be safe when visiting florida. even though it now appears mosquitoes are spreading the zika virus there. four new cases are not linked to travel or sex so officials say that means that the people were infected by mosquito by the. health investigators are going from house to house looking for places where mosquitoes can breathe, stepping up efforts to prevent zika virus from spreading. >> there was nothing in there. >> reporter: florida's governor confirmed the first suspected cases of locally transmitted zika in the united states, four people, likely got the virus from a mosquito bite. health officials believe infections occurred in the small area north of downtown miami, in the trendy wynnewood

wandberg this. we have about 100 cases in our tri-state area, none related to mosquito by the here. no infected mosquitoes here but an issue in south florida right now. >> all right. we will see what happens next. >> thanks, stephanie. new beginning for new town connecticut. nearly four years, since the shooting at sandy hook elementary school. tonight we're getting a first look at the new school, built to lee place the one where 20 children, and six educators, were gunned down in 2012. the new sandy hook elementary school was designed to appeal to children and to keep them safe. >> the safety and security measures in this building are second to none. >> reporter: fifty million-dollar, 86,000 square foot building has impact resistant doors and windows as well as state of the art video monitoring. the ground floor is elevated making it harder to see inside classrooms from the outside. anyone entering the front of the school must use one of the three pedestrian bridges, all who approach can be seen by those inside and the doors

will be kept locked. the old school was torn down, after a gunman fatally shot 20, first graders, and six faculty and staff in 2012. the new one stand on the same property, but not in the old footprints. there will be no on site memorial for the victims and decision was made to keep the school's same name. >> we are proud to be sandy hook school, we are part of our sandy hook village community, part of the new town and fact that a horrible thing happened here does not erase the wonderful thing that have happened here in our 300 year-old history of our community. >> reporter: school begins august 29th, officials hope all of the colorful details and thoughtful touches that the community had a hand in designing will make the new sandy hook school a place of learning, and laughter. >> this school will serve students from prekindergarten to fourth grade and 70 of those returning students were kindergarteners when this shooting occurred. san diego police officer is killed and another is wounded in a shoot-out following a late night traffic

stop. officer jonathan guzman, a 26 year veteran of the force, was killed, wade irwin is expect to survive. both officers were wearing bullet-proof vests and cameras. shooting suspect was captured in a nearby ra reen and is being treated at the hospital. we all took an oath to protect, serve all of our communities and to have this happen, to our police officers, we have seen this happen way too many times just in these last few weeks. >> across our great country, it is tragic for everyone. >> police in san diego this afternoon have surrounded a house where an accomplice, in the shooting may be hiding out. at least two people are dead after a medical transport plane crashed, in a remote part of the northern california. the pilot called for help early this morning when cockpit started filling with smoke. four people were on board the plane heading from oregon, to oakland. officials have not released information about the other

two people on the plane. many commuters in washington d.c., have to find another way home, today after a metro train derailed this morning. seventy-five passengers were forced off the train when two cars went off the track, only one person was hurt, when he bumped his head. pope francis paid an emotional visit this morning to the site of the nazi concentration cam in auschwitz, poland. pope walk alone through the gates of the complex where more than a million people were killed during the holocaust. he sat in silent prayer for nearly 15 minutes and prayed again in the prison cell where catholic saint maximilian column bye volunteered his life to to save another. survivors gathered to watch the pope and for one jewish survivor there was no difference between himself and the christian leader. >> he was a human being. holocaust was not just a jewish tragedy but it was a european tragedy.

half inches have rainfall. dennis township in cape may county over 3 inches and kenneth square, close to 3-inch west that event last night. storm scan three, much, much more quieter but we are seeing, some showers, as we look up towards the poconos, they are trying to work their way southbound but you can see they are not very strong and not going very far at this point. we do have a dry slot and evening in store. temperatures are warm but in the hot, 86 degrees in philadelphia a we are at 90 in reading. feeling good down the shore with temperatures in the low to mid 80's but certainly we have been on that july heat streak. 90 degrees, days so far this season 23. mostly this month. last year we had 37, 90-degree days. pretty high above our seasonal average. check out 2010, that was a hot year, 55, 90 degrees days in philadelphia. so, getting a break from the 90's. not getting a big break. dew points right now tolerable in the mid to upper 60's but still certainly steamy, and overnight tonight we will have

muggy conditions, partly cloudy, falling back down to 73 degrees. for tomorrow we will start off dry and areas of rain and thunderstorms develop in the second half of the day and we will see a stalled out weather system just to our south that will provide lift to our atmosphere. we will have the moisture and then we will have heat as we head in the afternoon hours. showers and storms will flare up. we could see storm activity continuing as we head into tomorrow evening and then redevelopment once again, with this system still lingering around, as we head into sunday so all together, we will have to have that umbrella close by and have a backup plan for your outdoor plans because tomorrow, a mainly dry start to the day but downpours start to kick up after lunchtime, scattered storms and that activity will continue in the evening hours but at least no 90's on the board for our high temperatures. tomorrow topping in the lower 80's in the lehigh valley. middle 80's in the city and surrounding counties. as we head into sunday keep it in the middle 80's and is there not a 90-degree temperature on the board until we head towards the end of the next week and we will finally
