evolution of where the internet is at right now. games are becoming more interactive. the playing field is now the world around you. you've got all of these followers, you have all of these people watching, the streaming quality is good enough. those people are going to start daring you to do stuff for their benefit. >> apparently the watchers want me to team up with you. >> i don't think i make a very good partner. >> let's see what else happens. >> okay. >> everybody though everything does feel extremely grounded in the movie, it's still in a world that people say it's five minute in the future. it's still things that happened actually happened yet if we were tackling things that happened a year ago when we were filming the knife it might feel dated right now. >> making a move at this takes two years from being a script, shoot, editing, then the theaters. you have to predict how things are going to be by the time the movie is released. do your best. >> at least for me and movies and tv when someone answers that you are phone or texts it can

take you out of the move. >> i definitely. >> with this the way they put it on the screen and the way that you are following everyone and kind of like going with them through the technology is really cool. and i remember when i saw it for the first time i was impressed with that. i asked them, how are you going to show that? and the way they show it on the screen is really cool. >> how many times have we seen different ways of like people showing texts or whatever on screen, it all feels the same now. to actually do it in a unique way it's awesome. ♪ ♪ >> whew! >> heavy. >> it's no mistake that you are shooting in new york city. how does that play in to the whole vibe of it? >> the story takes place in new york city and we thought it was important. if nerve did exist we thought it would pop up here and we didn't want to fake it in another town. we figured if we are here and it will cost the studio a couple of million dollars more because it's just experience here, then we better capture it.

>> the scene where we are watching the home movies of life before the collapse of society. and the innocence. for me, even my family is still around and i watch home movies and i just weep. that one gets me. that, you know, the two of them the powerful look at their old life and the ghosts and the power goes off and it's back to reality that hits me hard. >> i thought i would come by to see if you are okay. [ screaming ] >> does it make you think about if this were actually to happen sometime in the future, now would you do anything differently because maybe you learned something on this set? >> i think the movie filled us with lessons in terms of how to keep with probably an inevitable future for all of us. not a lot of people of talking about it in a practical way. there is a lot of dystopian movies but it's about how this
