>> monsignor william lynn due back in a philadelphia courtroom this morning, but lynn's hearing is the only event of note at center city's criminal justice center. good afternoon, i'm brooke thomas. >> the court who is evacuated right after the hearing. >> live in center city with the details on monsignor lynn's court appearance, and the mishap that forced the

courthouse to be cleared. >> brooke, jim, afternoon, monsignor lynn's hearing anti-cry a.m. i can, in being if a, set trial date for may first, but when we were leaving the courtroom, that the fire alarms were going off, sheriff's deputies evacuating everybody, from the criminal justice center, and there are two patients that we are aware of right now, injured, in what is being described as elevator incidents, one elevator apparently malfunctioned, debris fell inside the elevator, and injured a woman. but, first, a sergeant from the sheriff's department was also injured. you can see, he's being taken away in a ambulance. and rushed to hahnemann hospital. that happened just in the last half hour. he's not identified just yet. but, of course this was an all hands on deck emergency response, the fire department, the sheriff's department on the scene, and of course, the medics, and as the medics were moving up into the building, we are understanding that the sergeant from the sheriff's

department was injured separately from the first injury, woman in the basement, she says, when something went wrong with the elevator. she tells us that debris fell on her, we spoke to her, as she was being wheeled into the back after ambulance, have a listen. >> reporter: ma'am, are you okay? what happened? >> i don't know, something exploded inside the elevator. >> what are your injuries? >> i don't know, that's why they're taking me to the hospital. >> how many floors did you fall? >> i was in the basement. i don't think it went anywhere. fell down on top of the elevator, exploded. >> and to set the scene for you, as we were interviewing monsignor lynn's criminal defense attorney, people were spilling out of the criminal justice center. we were moved from the one sidewalk on this side of the street over to the other sidewalk where there are jurors, judges, lawyers, sheriff officials, defendants, you name it, they're here, they spilled out on to the sidewalk at about 10:30, and breaking news right now, we are told that the criminal

on a racketeering conviction. >> well, it is a gorgeous august day with that low humidity making it so very pleasant. we're hoping it stays this way. let's get first look at the forecast with meteorologist, lauren casey, live on the cbs-3 skydeck. >> yes, feeling great out here, warm sun, on my back, but humidity levels, not oppressive. yesterday a gorgeous day, and today, kind of a repeat. we have that sunshine, and we will keep humidity levels on the lower side certainly by august standards, and a good looking view just as nice as we check in on the live neighborhood network, cape may county courthouse, looking nice. 73 degrees, casino of cool, much cooler start to the day today, with temperatures dropping into the 60s, even into the 50's, across parts of the area. but, with all of that sunshine and dry air in place, temperatures have warmed up pretty quickly throughout the morning hours. we're now at 81 degrees in philadelphia, 80 in the lehigh valley, and some nice pleasant upper 70s right now down the shore, calling in at 73 degrees, mount pocono. our comfort index, dew point

hanging around that 60 degrees mark, it is not too bad. as we head into the day tomorrow, though, especially the second half of the day, dew points will start to creep back up and give us a pretty oppressive start to the upcoming weekends, but for the rest of your thursday afternoon, looking and feeling beautiful. mostly sunny conditions, with just some friendly fair weather cumulus clouds, as we head into the 9:00 hour this evening, really nice, mostly clear temperature near 78 degrees, but we will talk about that more sticky day, the more stormy day of the weekend, and then the nicer day of the weekends in your forecast coming up in just a couple of minutes, back to you. >> thanks, lauren. >> stabbing attack in london has left an american woman dead and five other hurt. >> now police still aren't sure what sparked the violence, but say the suspect may have been mentally ill. jonathan with more on the attack. >> reporter: police arrived in minute, tasered the suspect to attack several people with a knife. killing an american woman, in her 60s. five other people are wounded, including another american.

with less than 100 days to go before the election, donald trump is moving in the wrong direction. the latest polls show the republican nominee losing grounds in key battleground states. correspondent craig boswell reports on possible division within his campaign. >> donald trump says reports of chaos within his campaign are completely false. >> and i have to say our campaign is doing so nicely. >> just this week, trump has attack the family after us army captain killed in combat, denied russia's military involvement in ukraine, said his daughter ivanka should quit if harassed at work, refused to endorse leading republicans in congress, and lost the support of other prominent republicans. >> nobody's ever seen anything like this. it is a one man bands. it is not a real campaign. >> the last couple of weeks he has been remarkably under performing and we'll see whether or not he can take a deep breath and learn these lessons. >> reporter: hillary clinton now has a ten-point lead in a national pole from fox news. but, perhaps what's more truck

struggling to fix the sewage leak, because it is hard to get to that area. >> there is another meeting tonight for people concerned about water contamination in horsham. lawyers have been exploring lawsuit after tests found contaminated water in wells in montgomery and bucks counties. the contamination is blamed on fire fighting foam, used at military bases in horsham anwar minister. two law firms are holding tonight's meeting at 7:00 at the manor house, at commonwealth in horsham. the war on zika has gun in south florida, after at least 15 reported cases then linked to local mosquitos. >> experts however have concerns about the insecticides being used to do the aerial sprague, weijia jiang has the store. >> i sprague from the air to try to stop the zika virus began thursday in ten square mile area in miami, the target, the 80s mosquito, proved tough to get rid of. miami dade county using an

insecticide to spray the bugs from the air. in puerto rico where nearly 5,000 cases of zika have been reported, officials rejected using the chemical over health concerns. but, the epa insists, the pesticide is safe. >> the win ward section of miami is considered ground zero for health officials, at least 15 cases have locally transmitted zika have been reported in south florida. >> the attack on psych from the grounds is also being ramped up. >> but health officials acknowledge the spring isn't working as well as they hoped. the national institutes of health is now testing a zika vaccine that uses dna, similar to research on other mosquito born viruses, including west nile. eighty healthy volunteers are involved in the first round of testing. if successful, up to 5,000 more could be tested starting in january. doctor anthony says stalled funding in congress could compromise the research.

games. let's talk about the weather here. because it has been pretty great, right? >> yesterday, beautiful day, monday, little stormy, but things got better as the week went on. certainly a lot better for august than july. remember july? yes, i think we want to forget it. we had 16 days with high temperatures in the 90s, in philadelphia, and july, so, august, so far, at least, has been much kinder to us, in the delaware valley, and that is true right now. getting a live look down the shore, ocean city, boardwalk, looking good, little spars, but you know it is midday on thursday it, will get much busier i'm sure headed into tomorrow and the upcoming weekend. nice conditions prevailing all across the delaware vale. live look at center city philadelphia, there is a couple of clouds and seeing some high serous clouds, do have low cumulus clouds, but when they are flat like that an indication that the atmosphere is very stable. and we have no rain to worry about, 81 degrees your current temperature right now, winds out of the east, so nice sea breeze going on across the

area, 82 degrees, what it feels like when you factor in some of our little bit of humidity, low temperatures this morning, casino of cool start certainly by summertime standards, at 60 in the lehigh valley, sort of off, started off low 50's in the poconos, even needing long sleeves, 66 in philly, low 60s down the shore. but temperatures now with all of the sunshine, dry air in place, warming up, 81 degrees in philly, 80 in the lehigh valley, still hanging onto mid 70s lancaster, but 79 degrees, approaching 80 in millville. dew points, they tell us about that sticky factor, kind of better scale than relative humidity, because that percentage will change, especially during the overnight period. but, this will always stay stable, and give us a good depict tour of how terrible or how nice it feels outside. and when you have dew points in the 50's, it feels pretty comfortable, low 60s, certainly, by august standards, makes it feel nice, when you step outside. and that will hold true through the day today. sunny, bit warmer than yesterday, up to 87 degrees, right around average for us, overnight tonight, no problems, few passing clouds,

pleasant conditions, falling back to 68 degrees. storm scan3, not much to see. couple of passing clouds, no rainfall to worry about, and as we head into the day tomorrow another mostly sunny day, temperatures up into the 80's, right around average, but colds front drops in on saturday. this will be our stormy day, our sticky day, and high temperature will jump up back to 09 degrees, but then, by sunday, cold front sweeps through, high pressure builds in, actually canadian high pressure, some drier air building in again, sunshine returns, with temperatures in the 80s, so that's going to be the better day of the weekends, but future weather will folk in saturday, what to expect, could see few spotty showers, thunderstorms specially north and west of the city even saturday morning, and then as we get into the prime heating of the day see the showers and thunderstorms develop in association with the cold front. moving through during the afternoon and evening hours, and then clearing out across the area by late evening, on saturday, few of the storms could be on the stronger side, marginal risk of severe weather across the delaware valley, again, this is on saturday. otherwise, looking good in the poconos, for tomorrow. and down the shore, as well,
