airline flights. the problem has been fixed, but it is still causing headaches for travelers at the airport tonight. good evening i'm ukee washington. i'm nicole brewer. guess case off today. major computer outage grounded delta flights across the world and left many travelers stranded at airports. >> "eyewitness news" reporter rahel solomon explains how this all happened. >> reporter: tempers flared as delta airlines flights around the world were grounded. >> i'm ready to go home. >> frustrating. >> reporter: airline officials tweeted a power outage early monday forced the the atlanta base company to cancel hundreds of flights and delay thousands. hours later the company stated that the issue had been resolved but for janet elliott whose tonight from till a to houston was cancelled, that leaves little consolation. >> i go out tomorrow at 6:10 in the morning. >> reporter: aviation expert and lawyer arthur wolk told "eyewitness news" airlines are some of the most technology reline the companies. so when there is a glitch, consequences can have a global

impact. >> other than the people who physically worked there, everything is computer based and computer reline the. scheduling of all crews is done by computer. obviously reservations are still done by computer. even the dispatcher of airplanes is done by computer, computation of fuel necessary. >> reporter: delta is rebooking or offering customers refund. she says she with like a voucher for a few to trip but for now she just wants to make it back to texas. >> i would get on that flight i will be irate. >> that was rahel solomon report willing. there are new developments in a apparent berks county murder suicide. in other news that sent a family of five ted. we have learned that megan short alleged abuse and posted on facebook that she needed help moving out of the family's home in sinking spring. on saturday short was found dead alongside her husband mark and their three children, eight year-old leana,

five-year old mark junior and two-year old willow. suicide note was found at the scene and it is unclear who fired the shots. we're learning disturbing new details about the death of amy joyner francis in the bathroom of the wilmington high school. detective said today that joyner frances had her finger nailed ripped out during an attack in april. news came out of a hearing to decide if a 16 year-old girl charged in her classmate's death should be tried as an adult. joyner francis had a preexisting heart condition and coroner said she died after suffering sudden cardiac arrest with the attack contribute to go her death. the judge will make a decision by the end of next week. in other news jury selection is underway in the trial of the pennsylvania attorney general, kathleen kane. she's charged with leaking secret grand jury information to a reporter, to embarras enemies and then lying bit under oath. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live in norristown with today's developments at the courthouse, jan. >> reporter: nicole, good evening. it has been an extremely long

day for potential jurors. they have been here all day. they were escorted into the courtroom right around 9:30 this morning. they remained there this evening. besides one hour lunch a and 15 minute break later in the day they have been there all day long. they still have prosecutors and defense attorneys, they have been working on the second floor of the montgomery county courthouse trying to get the right group of people in place. they need a jury of 12 plus alternates to get this job done. with family and her twin sister nearby pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane stepped in the montgomery county courthouse today charged with felony perjury as well as obstruction, conspiracy, oppression, false swearing. day one was all about the jury. about 100 men and with men packed benches inside the courtroom. the commonwealth attorneys and the defense spent hours reviewing their questionnaires and asking additional questions d they know anyone in the attorney general's office? the montgomery county district attorney's office? dozens of witnesses. police officers. have they been charged and convicted of a crime. would anything in their

personal background prevery them from being a fair juror. kane's trial secretory leaked grand jury information and lied under oath to cover it up this say she was so angry about a leak that she shut down an investigation that she orchestrated a leak of her own as pay back. prosecutors then say kane lied about the leak saying she didn't know it was forbid tone release grand jury information, even though that she had signed an oath about it when she took office. her attorney says it was an honest mistake. but several former top aid are scheduled to testify against her. now in recent months, kane said her case is retribution for expose have has become known as porn gate during which state employees traded offensive, sometimes pornographic e-mails. the trial judge, however, won't allow the defense to get into that. now, kane remains on the job even though she lost her law license over the felony arrest. her term end in january, and she has not been seeking reelection. now that kane's trial is

on the healthwatch tonight, lots of talk about those big brown bruises on olympic swimmer michael phelps they are from a treatment called cupping that is very popular. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here to explain what

it is, and it looks strange. >> exactly. >> reporter: it is a little strange but it is a treatment that is used to reduce soreness and speed up healing. that is becoming especially popular for many athletes, and now with this olympic debut you will be seeing more of those purple dots. michael phelps shoulders were dotted with round bruces as he won an olympic gold medal in the free style relay from a therapy called cupping being used by phelps and other olympic athletes. >> it is placed on the skin of the athlete and we pull on the suction. >> reporter: eric le dano head athletic trainer at penn who demonstrated how cupping works says it is a common therapy, the skinnies sucked into specialized glass cups. how long does it stay there. >> we will leave this on from two minutes to ten minutes depending on the injury site. >> reporter: it can be done with heat, the suction causes capillaries just beneath surface of the skin to rupture. >> originally developed by chinese, and in an effort to

this is all said and done and all this moisture lifting north as this stationary front becomes warm front later in the week, we will tap in the heat and humidity. also, the unsettled pattern. temperatures right now warming up, in areas seeing more sunshine this afternoon. forty-eight in allentown. eighty-three reading. cooler 77 in atlantic city. eighty-one in millville. we can see difference in the dew point. dew points in the lehigh valley and berks county in the 50's, feeling great in musikfest a beautiful night. in the city 68. dew points in the 70's. areas to the south seeing more of that cloud cover. what to expect moving forward again? clouds clear out tonight, most of tonight is quiet. high pressure builds in briefly tomorrow keeping us protect for most of the day and cloud will return tomorrow night into wednesday morning and that warm front tries to lift north wednesday we will see scattered showers and storm and not a ton of sunshine either and thursday is the same story scattered showers and thunderstorms, cloud, sunshine but here is 11:00 o'clock thursday morning, storm is around and

that will continue through thursday evening. we have to watch that as well for that eagles preseason game. here's how it will feel not bad. wednesday we are right back to steamy and then thursday and friday dew points may rise in the mid 70's. it will feel down right- press i have thursday, friday, saturday, making our highs in the low 90's feeling more like upper 90's at times. very warm day. eighty-eight in the city. eighty-four down the shore. we steam up down the shore wednesday and thursday. either day featuring a shower or then are storm. look at how long this pattern sticks a around lower 90's, humid on wednesday with the scattered storms and then thursday, friday, sat the day, sunday, possibly even monday we're in the exact same copy and paste broken record kind of pattern and not really a good one. >> no. >> it will be doldrums of summer once again. >> thanks, kate. a scare on the water today for new owners of the sail boat. they had to escape their burning boat when it caught fire in the chesapeake and

delaware canal near route one. we are told they just bought the boat today in philadelphia and taking it back to maryland when they noticed smoke coming from the floor. they managed to safely get off the boat before it was destroyed by flames. a bottle nose dolphin found it way in the creek in cape may county. it all started saturday night when runner spotted dolphin stuck in the muddy section of the shallow creek. it took a couple of tries but marine mammal stranding center was able to net the dolphin and release it back in the delaware bay by late sunday. well, sixers are giving back to some young fans. >> yes, see big surprise waiting for hundreds of children at a basketball camp. clearing up confusion over a crackdown on distracted driving, what a law maker says he doesn't want to stop drivers from doing behind the wheel, we will explain
