shot while playing outside. tonight a 6-year-old girl fighting for her life. >> a possible loss for the eagles before the season even starts. offensive tackle lane johnson is reportedly facing a ten-game suspension. a plea to beach goers after a death down the shore. officials in the wildwoods are telling people to stay out of the water once the lifeguards go home for the day. the warning comes after officials say there have been two major after hours rescues in the past two days. good evening, i'm ukee washington >> i'm nicole brewer. jessica dean has the night off. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live in wildwood with more on the concerns. >> reporter: nicole over past few days, nine separate rescues have occurred in the wildwoods. emergency crews having to go into the water after lifeguards left. the mayor in wildwood saying all of those nine victims being sucked out into the ocean by rip current and unfortunately

tonight we know one of those victims has died. the sun is down and the weather is beautiful. it may seem like a great time to take a swim in the ocean. but city officials down the shore are begging you to think twice before taking a dip. >> our guys. >> reporter: the beaches are unguarded. lifeguards are home for the night and the wildwood mayor ernie trioto says it every year. >> do not go to unguarded beach. do not go out in the water when there's no lifeguards present. don't go out after hours. don't go out when it's getting dark. >> reporter: our cameras still caught people swimming well after the lifeguards packed it up for the night >> real nice out and not a lot of people bothering you. you can relax and enjoy the scenery. >> it's a fun time. you don't got the lifeguards bothererring you. >> reporter: there having two major rescue, six people pulled from the ocean on saturday in north wildwood and three more in wildwood sunday night t1 man in sunday's rescue later died from his injuries. >> some family has to bury an

uncle, a tragic event. >> reporter: you're enjoying the water. are you concerned there's no lifeguards on duty >> not really. we don't go that deep. we stay close to the sand or something. >> reporter: mayor says it doesn't matter. it still dangerous to swim in unprotected waters >> the last thing we want to do is you bring your family here and somebody dies. that is the last thing we want as a remembrance of your vacation. >> reporter: we checked with the mayor. he says it is not illegal to swim in the water after the lifeguards have left but in his own word, he says it is incredibly stupid. he says if you want to ocean, do so between 10:00 a.m. and 5:30. a 6-year-old philadelphia girl is in critical condition after should you caught in the cross fire while playing in front of her east germantown home. police say two people fired 21 shots in the 6300 block of north

woodstock street. one of those stray bullets hit the girl under her arm. >> this is very, very disturbing for the police. when someone gets hit with a stray bullet and they're innocent, that is of particular concern to us. >> several other bullets also hit two parked cars. detectives are searching for suspects. we now know the identity of the little girl killed in crash in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood. three-year-old esther palmer was in car last night with her mother and grandmother when it was hit near 2nd and york. esther was ejected out of the back window of the driver that hit esther and her family was 17. police suspect he was racing another car. police tonight are searching for that other car. a black honda. neighborhood residents are understandably upset. >> when i see stay home and play x box. why are they going to endanger other people >> esther's grandmother remains

in critical but stable condition tonight at temple university hospital. a burlington county community is trying to come to grips with a tragedy. three members of a family including a 10-year-old boy are dead as a result of what police believe is a murder suicide. the story is unfolding burlington township. rahel solomon monday is at police headquarters with reaction from neighbors who knew the family. rahel, good evening. >> reporter: ukee, good evening, this is a family that according to the neighbors we spoke to certainly at least on the outside appeared ok. when police showed up in the neighborhood monday night for a welfare check neighbors say they were in no way prepared >> signs of typical childhood past time on sun flower circle tuesday pointed to perhaps happier times. >> kids always riding bike outside, very shocked >> they were quiet. i didn't see them out much but

the kid was always outside playful, happy. he knew my sister. of the neighborhood kids. >> reporter: police discovered the body of the 10-year-old often seen playing basketball. his family called him trey. also the boy's mother mashanda and his mother rubin johnson. prosecutors believe rubin killed his wife and son before turning the gun on himself >> i never would have suspected. >> reporter: officials have not set up a possible motive but county records online indicate the couple may have been in financial trouble. according to those records, the home was scheduled for a sheriff sale in october. neighbors say they had no idea what the family was going through >> a sweet family. you would never expect that. it's a tragedy. it really is. >> reporter: trey also has an older sister who was not in the state at the time. the family did ask us to respect their privacy as they to go through this very difficult time. they did, however, want us to share with our viewers they have

set up a gofundme page to help pay for the funeral expenses for the mother and son killed in the murder suicide. we're going to post the information. also important to note, burlington township middle school are going to be hosting brief counsellors tomorrow. that will take place from 9 347b until 2:30 in the afternoon and then in the evening from 5:30 to 8:30, rahel solomon monday cbs3 "eyewitness news." police also continue to investigate the murder suicide involving a family of five in bucks county. on saturday, mark short and his wife megan and three children were found shot to death inside their home in singing springs. we do not know who fired the shots. megan posted she was planning on leaving her husband over abuse allegations. a psychologist tells it "eyewitness news" it can be difficult to prevent these types of tragedies >> a lot of times the murder suicides are a result of family

secrecy. so the family has been keeping a secret that there's a final burden. they've been keeping a secret there's an affair. a lot of people might not even know their neighbors are experiencing these very distressing events. so it can be hard to intervene. >> she also says it is difficult to detect warning signs but if you see a relative or friend struggling, reach out and ask how you can help them. in campaign 2016, donald trump is once again defending himself after comments he made about the 2nd amendment. many interpreted it as a threat of violence against his rival hillary clinton. donald trump sparked a new controversy at his rally in north carolina tuesday after telling supporters there hillary clinton wants to abolish the 2nd amendment. >> if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks.

infected. a baby girl born in texas with micro sevenly has died. of it's a condition where a baby's head is much smaller than expected and oftentimes the brain development isn't complete. baby's mother is from el salvador where it's suspected she became infected with zeka virus before traveling back to texas where she gave birth. texas reported 97 travel related zika cases and this death marks the first zika related death in that state. the kansas water park where a 10-year-old died on the world world's tallest water slide. the water slide he was killed on will remain closed. officials have not said exactly what went wrong but an almost autopsy showed schwab died of a neck injury. the slide has not been inspected by the state of kansas since it opened two years ago. today we checked with local water parks about measures they take to protect you and your family. the kansas city tragedy was on
