come back but looking at storm scan three, you can see a chance of showers, storms, katie will let us know what to expect and when. also this morning someone shot a six year-old girl and now police are looking for two gunman. we just got shot at. >> chaos in ferguson after a protester is run over by a car and shots are fired, we have the latest on this developing scene. today is wednesday august 10th good morning i'm joe holden in for jim donovan. i'm's brooke thomas. katie and meisha are here keeping an eye on things this morning. >> good morning, in the world of the travel, a lot going on with delta updates and septa we have accidents, a lot of construction mostly coming out of the way now. it is just a busy morning. >> indeed. >> it is so quiet with the weather but we did mention that potential for showers and storms is not here yet. it should not be an issue. late day maybe is a threat but we are only talking about scattered showers and storms. we will get to that. lets look at live neighborhood

network which is producing a nice sunrise, really pretty views, being taken outside middletown ship high school in cape may courthouse. 76 degrees here and looking at storm scan three, there is not much happening just yet. give it time really, i would say this is beginning of the stretch, of the forecast that is honorary pete because we see this same pattern sort of just stuck for a matter of days and pattern is this, it is humid with dew points in the 70's we're talking regional wide right now. it is very steamy outside. already we're going to see these temperatures spike to 90 with ease here today if not hitting it near shore points we are at 84 today. we will call it partly sunny generally speaking and that is a running theme with the days ahead but along with that instability that is created by building heat and humidity and some sunshine we have to watch for scattered showers and then are storms. that is story moving forward

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at st. christopher's hospital where little will girl is recovering this morning, justin? >> reporter: brooke and joe, good morning. recovering indeed. no suspects caught just yet but man in the white t-shirt was seen running from the crime scene in east germantown. meantime that girl was taken to einstein for emergency surgery before coming here to st. christopher's. she has a wound to her left armpit near her vital organs and police say her injuries could have been much worse. just playing by her front steps child found herself in the credits hairs of danger tuesday evening. >> upon police arrival we found a six year-old female laying on the sidewalk, she was unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound to her

left armpit. >> reporter: around 7:00 a wave of calls came into 911, reporting a shooting in east germantown, the scene of the 6300 block of north wood stock street where a philadelphia police count sod 21 shots fired and surmised one semiautomatic gun was used. that six year-old girl likely not the inn tenned target. >> when someone gets hit with the stray bullet and they are innocent, that is of particular concern to us. >> reporter: thirty-fifth district officers rush her to einstein where she was stabilized after emergency surgery, she continues recovery now at st. christopher's children he's hospital with her caretaker by her side. >> the bullet went under her left arm, her left armpit area, which is a very bad spot to be hit by gunfire, in your chest, especially left side of your chest where your hearties located. >> reporter: on her block the northwest detectives divisions sought out suspects, witnesses and surveillance cameras, ballistics evidence the indicates that the shots

were fired southbound on north wood stock where two cars were also struck. there is likely another shooter too say police but now they are locked in on one. >> description of our shooter is a male wearing a white t-shirt, fled on foot in an unknown direction. >> reporter: as police continue their search for that suspected shoot their six year-old girl remains in critical but stable condition at st. christopher's. police are looking for surveillance cameras, again, in that east germantown neighborhood hoping to find video of that shooter, or shooters, as well as that crime as it happen. we are live outside saint chris's i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". brooke and joe, back inside to you. >> justin, thanks for that live report. philadelphia police are looking for whether a shooting in east germantown is related to the one last night. it was about a block away. a 47 year-old man was shot near 21st and chelten. he told police he was walking where he heard gunfire and realized that he was shot. he is in stable condition,

bullets also hit a parked car. we now know identity of the three-year eld girl killed in a crash in kensington, esther palmer died monday night after being thrown from a car window. her mother and grandmother were also in the car, police say that the car that hit them may have been racing, and they are looking for a third car, a black honda. >> they want to see, stay home, and play x box, you know, like why are they going to endanger other people. >> esther's grandmother remains in critical but stable condition this morning. developing right new someone started shooting during a demonstration in ferguson, missouri. >> the gun fire rang out moments after a driver in the speeding car hit a young protester so hard he flew in the air. he was badly hurt but there were no reports of anyone shot. protesters were blocking the street hacking two year

anniversary of michael brown's death. demonstration during a self-defense class ended with a woman accidentally shot to death, by a police officer. mary not on was taking part in the citizens academy exercise in florida where police say someone mistakenly shot her. that officer is on administrative leave pending investigation. the police chief called it a horrible accident. grief counselors will be in burlington township middle school after an apparent murder/suicide leaves three family members dead. prosecutors believe ruben johnson, junior killed his wife mishanda and their ten year-old son before turning the gun on himself monday night. officials have not yet said where they release a possible motive but county record on line indicate that the couple may have been in financial trouble. the home was scheduled for sheriff's sale in october. neighbors say they had no eye tea what the family was going through. >> you would just never expect

we're back on "eyewitness news" with video after a dust storms sweeping across city of phoenix arizona yesterday. storm dropped visibility levels to less than a quarter hyle, pretty dramatic sight there. all this severe weather is connected to tropical storm javier in mexico. >> that tropical storm is blame for heavy weather farther south in arizona too. this is tucson where three cars were disable after drivers drove into high water. fortunately in one was hurt but flooding caused serious damage in southern arizona. warning from the three wildwoods when life guard are off-duty stay out of the water. >> this follows eight rescues in the past three days after the beach patrol left for the day. saturday there were six rescues in north wildwood, sunday there were three in wildwood. man in the second incident died, and "eyewitness news"

caught people swimming long after the life guard called it a night. >> i like it. they don't like just throwing footballs around, or like us doing little things so good to come after hours to throw our football around. stuff like that. >> life guard are on duty from ten to 5:00 p.m. it is not illegal to swim after hours, however, communities remind you it is dangerous to swim in unprotect waters. so when those life guard go off-duty, katie, it is best bet because they are up high and you can see these rip currents out there. >> absolutely, that is it, when you have a a low risk for rip currents you can still see them form around jetties and peers. we say swim near life guard and best to just take a fleettation device in the water with you when that happens. today we will actually have a maryland rate risk for rip currents which we will talk about in the beach forecast but lets focus on storm scan and far off to the north and west of the beach towns here, heavier thunderstorms coming through north of the i80,

poconos getting clipped from that. we will see our own fair share of scattered, granted showers and then are storms popping up tar off to the west our next frontal boundary is very slow ly, moving east and we are setting up for multiple days of not just excessive heat but high humidity as well as potential for more showers and thunderstorms. excessive heat watch or warning by the time this goes into effect at high noon tomorrow. even they it is hot, it is not excessive, quote unquote but still pretty brutal and that will set stage for many days of the much more of the same. this is current dew point, guys, seven three, hotter and more steamy it is and worst of the hair day and we have got benefit of climate control. our hair looks lovely but once you step outside, it will be frizzy or fall flat. either forgo intricate hair style, when we have high humidity. we will keep dew points in the 07's all day.

brian web for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". they moved nine babies out of the neonatal intensive care unit and into another hospital after three infants tested positive for a potentially deadly bacteria. medical staff at prince georges hospital center say routine tests detect the presence of the pseudomonas bacteria doctors say nine babies are not showing any symptoms but they are moving them just to be safe. hospital officials believe that the bacteria originated in water pipes, those pipes are now being disinfect. a baby girl with microcephaly just died in texas. microcephaly is a condition where baby's head is much smaller then expect and often times brain development is incomplete. the baby's mother is from el salvador and doctors think that is where she got zika virus before traveling back to texas where she gave birth. texas reported 97 travel related zika cases but this is first zika related deaths in
