live from the bs broadcast center in philadelphia, this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. a woman is hospitalized after being shot in a van. the surprising details that may make him easy to find. >> federal aid is on the way after louisianna was hit with devastating floods. we'll tell you how many people have been rescued so far. the trial of attorney general, kathleen kane, is coming to an end. we'll tell you what we can expect as closing arguments get underway. >> good morning, today is monday, august 15th, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm brooke thomas. there is a lot to tell but this morning, including details on security scare at new york's john f. kennedy airport. but first, big welcome to jim donovan, coming safely back from bermuda.

>> oh, i rode all the way, yes. >> twenty-one, yes. >> absolutely. >> katie and meisha in the house, too. >> good morning, you guys, roadways are looking really good. a lot of construction, we know that, roadways are nice andrew, we survived the heat. my goodness. >> still going though, unfortunately, it has already proven deadly for couple of folks. no joke. so it continues on. still have excessive heat. very quickly, take a look at storm scan3, quiet thankfully at the moment. we did have heavier thunderstorms that rolled through the overnight. those have long since fizzled away. left with heat and humidity, still out there. high pressure generally, once more, excessive heat warning now extended until 6:00 p.m. tomorrow. so, we've got two more days of the worse of this, we think, before things finally, finally start to just lose their steam if you will here, worse of the heat goes by the wayside.

certainly the worse of humidity, as well, regardless, excessive heat warning in effect for i95 and the flanked counties, meanwhile, temperatures, further north you travel, the cooler it will be, regardless still humid out there. temperatures currently flooding with the 08 degrees mark, philly, atlantic city, and in wildwood, even some of the outlying suburbs, in mt. holly, where our national service regional headquarters is located also into the upper 70s currently. once more no problems, spiking back to the low and mid 90s, factoring in the humidity it will feel hotter than that, and if you are trying to beat the worse of the heat, certainly the resort towns are good place to head if maybe you have throw day weekend. >> absolutely, all right, katie, thank you so much. well, so far, so good on the roadways, still little early. welcome back. happen mine day, this is where we had an accident, camera shot vogue the vine westbound at 18th, the accident actually happened little more closer to packer avenue. right now it is all clear, looking actually good around here, vine open last night for

evacuated terminals one and eight after getting reports of shots fired around 9:30 last night. they say they have not found any firearms, rounds of ammunition, or shell casings. no one was hurt, but some flights were canceled or diverted to other airport. >> by the end of this week, we could know the outcome of the kathleen kane trial. >> pennsylvania's attorney general is charged with perjury, and obstruction. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch live at the montgomery county courthouse where closing arguments begin this morning, good morning, justin. >> jim, brooke, good morning, as soon as today, jury of six men, six women, could begin deciding fate of state attorney general cat loan kane. look at video from the bench on friday, the judge gave kane a chance to take the stand on her own behalf. kane's response was, quote, i don't feel like i need to testify. her account would have close add fourth and final day of her perjury trial, on a friday the journalist whose report began this all was a witness,

though siting state law did not reveal his source for the secret grand jury documents used in his article. the focus ex philly naacp president jerry mondesire now deceased, it centers on mondesire's finances, thousand never charged. on the stand mondesire's fiancee, says the report was damaging and factored in his health decline. prosecution rested it case soon after, the defense also rested never calling a witness. all last week, kane's team insisted the leak now tied to her was done for transparent, and not to swipe at another prosecutor thought to at first leak details about her. kane's defense lawyers spoke outside of court. >> particularly send this point at this time, we'll wait and see what happens. >> now, court resumes this

morning, at 8:30 a.m. kane is accused of leaking that grand jury information and then lying about it under oath. we're live here in norristown, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", jim, brooke, back into you. >> thanks a lot, justin. aunt and grandmother face charges after allegedly leaving a child in a hot car in bensalem. a tip led police to the infant left alone in the target parking lot on rock hill drive. the child is expected to be okay. police say the two women told them they forgot the baby was in the car. >> philadelphia now reports its third heat related death. the latest victim was 59 year old man from north philadelphia. the city's medical examiner's office said he also had diabetes and congestive heart failure two. women have also died in the current heatwave. meanwhile, a west philadelphia neighborhood has water again. crucifix dollars a broken water main at 61st street and haverford avenue. the main broke around 7:00 this morning, yesterday morning, for 12 hours, more than 50 homes and businesses had no running water despite

heat index of 105 degrees. the neighbors took it in stride. >> we went to -- my husband went to shoprite and bought gallon of water, and you just make do. when you get lemonade, lemons, make lemonade. so when you don't have any water, you go buy some water. >> now, resident did who did not buy bottled water at the store, the fire department handed out bottles for free. >> new jersey man dead this morning after lightning strike near eastern pennsylvania lake. two other were also hurt by the lightning. authorities say 38 year old jose lopez hernandez of camden was swimming at fell field state park when hit by lightning. it happened last night, shortly after 7:00 p.m., in the poconos, an autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. >> also, new this morning, philadelphia police are looking for a man who shot a woman in a van in frankford. investigators say, the woman told them the man came out of an alley, then walk up to the

van, parked at wakling and salt street and started shooting. the woman is in stable condition. officer is say they found the van at wake land and penn two blocks from the scene of the shooting. police are looking look for the man who was with letter in the van at the time. they believe he may also be hurt. >> this morning, police looking for the gunman who shot and killed a teenager in north philadelphia. this happened yesterday afternoon, in the 2,000 block of east orleans street. that's in kensington. investigators say, the teen was inside a car, and shot in the back. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. no word on a motive or a suspect, description. >> well, dozens demand free blood tests in wake of the water contamination in montgomery and bucks counties. local resident lined the road outside the navy's recruiting office yesterday, demanding the government foot the bill for the test. they are concerns come after nearby closed naval base were said to be contaminated with their public and private

>> miami walky police after second night of unrest over police officer shooting and killing a black man. at one point a car was on fire. but, there was no widespread destruction of property that marked the first night after the man's death. police say the man ran off during a traffic stop, investigators also say he had a gun in his hand, when he turned toward an officer. >> well this morning president obama has declared four louisianna parishes as major disaster areas, after historic flooding that's left four

monday to you. looking outside, nine the a north approaching the blue route, what you are looking, both directions both northbound, southbound, no delays around the blue route, blue route looking pretty darn good. 422 westbound at trooper, same story looking good both directions eastbound and westbound there. new jersey first look at 42 northbound, approaching 295, looking good, i would say handful of vehicles out there. we know on a monday morning it will get busy even into the 5:00 hour. we do have accident out there, couple of them, ridge pike at kline road. couple of them this morning have already cleared. speaking of royersford, kline road, the one i just showed you, this is downed pole here. all lanes are blocked, wynnefield trap road between lewes road and twp. line road, because of that you will have to use alternate. limerick center road will be your best bet right now. again all lanes are blocked. i'll let you know when this clears out of your way, jim, over to you. >> the bad guys took on some cartoon characters this weekend. >> i can't wait to show you my toys. >> we'll tell you how suicide squad did against the debut of

rumbling through in recent days here, but of course the weather head loin continues to be the heat. really tallying up these 90 plus degrees now, this month alone, five, so tallying up the numbers here for the season as a whole, 30 so far. the average season would have 23. so clearly, over achieving, in that regard, meanwhile, here's how it currently feels. thankfully a lot closer to the actual air temperature, humidity isn't horrible. it is not off but not ideal. looking at storm scan3, nice wide zoom, that system you see bringing in the rain currently back to the midwest, that's what's going to finally bring some relief. now, it is still going to take a little bit of time here, still in the 90s through wednesday, but wednesday transition day, that's when we start off humid, but the humidity gradually wains with time, we are going to see some showers and thunderstorms tomorrow by the way. so have the umbrella ready to go. finally by week's end it is warm, but humidity wiped

bit. yikes. talking about working out outside. i don't know how anyone can be jogging out there, very dangerous, anyway, good morning, happy monday, roads looking okay. couple every accidents, disable vehicle, a lot of construction to get to. >> i would say if you do want to get your morning jog in, the morning is the best time to do it. but yes, exactly, before the sun comes up, that's definitely going to be the quiet he is time of the day certainly, also the coolest. but it is obviously still a pretty warm start. excessive heat warning we mentioned, yes, extended, so, for i95, and the flanked counties, that surround it, you will be once again stuck with the worse of the heat here, today, and even into tomorrow. because notice, it does go until tuesday now at 6:00 p.m. so as the forecast gets tweeked, of corpse the weather service continues to update these kind of things. that's why it is going to continue until now, tuesday. again, it had been extended once, continues to be
