to business when she steps down from her post but she will spend two months waiting to learn if she will serve time behind bars. not even 24 hours after a montgomery county jury found kathleen kane guilty on all nine counts, of perjury and related charges, kane, once a rising star in the democratic party, announced she will resign on wednesday n a brief one sentence statement, the attorney general said quote i have been honored to serve the people of pennsylvania, and i wish them health and safety in all of their days, end quote. kane was convicted of deliberately leaking information to get revenge against a former state prosecutor named frank fina, prosecutors say that she did it after bad press. kane's number two former montgomery county district attorney bruce castor, will fill in until a new attorney jennies named. he spoke from harrisburg this afternoon. >> i don't know that anybody is prepared to assume a job of this nature. i certainly have spent my

entire professional life learning how to run a large government operation and i have been doing it doing it more or less for the last five months but i will try to dot best job that i can. >> reporter: in 2012 kane's popularity was so high former president bill clinton joined her on the campaign trail. a spokesmen for presidential candidate donald trump released a statement pointing out kane's clinton connection, saying quote it is unsurprising that yet another clinton insider has chosen to lie under oath to hide their unethical behavior. there is a pattern of criminal behavior that follows clinton and her allies around. this is another example of clinton world, promising ethical behavior but yet not following through end quote. during the week long trial, kane never took the stand but text messages and emales written duesed in court. her attorneys said in court last night they will appeal. >> we mount a full defense. >> reporter: governor tom wolf applauded resignation news.

kathleen kane will report back to court in montgomery county october 24th to learn about her sentence. she could at least seven years behind bars for the convictions, also a possible authorities did not take her in custody. she's free tonight. she did have to turn over her passport. reporting live, david spunt for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". so, who is pennsylvania's new acting attorney general? well, bruce castor has lived in montgomery county his entire life. he served as montgomery county's district attorney from 2,000 through 2008. one of his most notable decisions was not charging bill cosby with sexual assault more than a decade ago. after he left the d.a.'s office castor spent eight years as a montgomery county commissioner before returning to private practice in january of this year. a few months later, kane appointed castor as first solicitor general of pennsylvania, making him the ag's top deputy. stay which "eyewitness news" for continuing coverage of the kathleen kane's resignation, we will have the latest developments on is what

have now expired. we are not under any severe thunderstorm warnings right now but we have a broken line of thunderstorms extending from the poconos all the way down into eastern maryland and these storms do have frequent lightening, heavy downpours and risk for strong gusty wind. they are weakening as they move toward a little bit more stable air in place over south jersey and delaware. i want to show you cells we are watching. one that has just started developing over western bucks county and it will continue to watch this one does have lightening and could possibly be warn. no warning with that yet. strongest storm just outside our area oversees ill county, maryland, and right along i-95 we are seeing heavy rain. strong gusty wind and lot of lightening with that cell. that is moving north and east at 16 miles an hour. that will bring to it portions of northern delaware and probably the city of philadelphia within the next hour or two. probably will weaken present it gets here but does still have warnings associated with it. in the meantime here's our severe thunderstorm watch in

effect for vast majority of the area until 11:00 o'clock tonight. but i will be shock if this last until 11:00. i think everything does wind down in the next couple of hours. 8.8 million people, included in that severe thunderstorm watch. we will continue tracking these storms. we will have more timing. tell you if the heat, and storms, out to sea tonight coming up in a few minutes. one man is in custody and police are searching for another after a dozen home invasions of asian owned pisses between may and august of this year. due to multiple tips from the public 29 year-old norman bowens was taken in custody but yet to be charged. still at large is three three-year old anthony campbell and police need public's help finding him. >> we're still looking for anthony campbell. if anybody has any information that can help us find him or if anybody knows anthony, get him to turn himself in, please do that. >> police say campbell should be armed and dangerous. this woman is behind bars

after a bizarre attack inside a wilmington target store. police say le taco mason poured bleach on another customer's head after they got in the fight in the store earlier this month. some have of that also splashed on the one year-old child in the victim's court. mason turn herself into police this morning. house fire near jersey shore has left an 84 year-old man and his 49 year-old son dead. two alarm fire broke out 9:30 last night in the shore town of bellmawr. crews responded from five different fire departments and cause of the fire remains under investigation but officials say it does not appear to be suspicious. that 49 year-old man is survived by his two children. still to come paying a price for hitting the jackpot. >> government is about to take another bite out of lottery wings. new tax you'll testify pay before you collect your money. plus... >> it is thunder over boardwalk for atlantic city air show what you should and shouldn't bring to the big

to 11. that watch does look like threat is winding down and will completely collapse after 8:00 o'clock. still a few scattered cells to watch and take a look at one storm that went through earlier in reading at a time lapse the past few hours we had blue skies, looking good nice warm afternoon and then all of a sudden we see dark cloud moving in. look at that wind gusts, measured at this site, 46 miles an hour gusts measured there and brief downpours getting wet. dark included rolling through and still looking a little ominous in reading. there air lot of clouds associated with this line of storms even after the storms moved through cloud to stick around for a while. storm scan three you can see cloud cover on the satellite image still cloudy in the wake of the storm but main push of storms right now moving out of the region to the north over north jersey but cells we want to watch here in philadelphia are these over southern chester county and into eastern maryland. these are moving north and east. they are intensifying a bit. they are not severe but you

can see a few cells moving through southern chester county through wilmington delaware, possibly delaware county and eventually philadelphia do still have lightening involved but still heavy downpours right along i-95, slow downs. this is what you will want to watch. two discrete cells, one over maryland and chester county moving north and east ward. while they may not turn severe we will have a threat for a brief but intense then are storm over philadelphia probably likely between seven and 8:00 o'clock. otherwise our severe thunderstorm watch goes until 11:00. we have storms moving through. they will continue to weaken once they hit 95 a and delaware river. they will fall apart. don't expect them to continue, into the shore points, this evening what to expect? scattered thunderstorms. any storms can produce damaging wind and frick lightening. biggest threat from the city north and west and then the storm wind down after 8:00. still feeling hot outside, still feels like 104 here in philadelphia, feeling like 106

in millville, wilmington is backup as cloud move in advance of the storms but our excessive heat warning continues until 10:00. we have been under this warning since last thursday and it will be nice when that expires and we can get rid of it. right now still feeling insufferable, that was our lot in life for today but humidity values do fall off tomorrow and will stay lower through the even of the week. it is not cool but it will feel better. so tomorrow partly sunny, still hot. i think we hit 90 which means heat wave continues. tomorrow is day number eight but feels different, thursday and friday near 90 both days, maybe a stray shower or storm. we will keep that chance for pop up storm around this weekend. not a major cool down but anything better than feeling like 106 degrees. >> mild improvement. >> we will take it. thanks, kate. political stand still in new jersey. >> why governor christie says state is stuck on a plan to raise the gas tax. serving up lessons in tennis and life special
