>> reporter: hi there nicole. the last night i said today might be coolest 90-degree day we ever felt and it does. it is still a hot august day but compared to the mid 90's and compared to the heat index values in the triple digits to day actually feels pretty nice outside. temperatures right now are in the upper 80's across the region. we have a couple lower 90's over south jersey. ninety-one in millville. ninety-one in atlantic city. eighty-nine in philadelphia i do think is there a good chance we will hit 90 for the day. we will see when that number comes in whether today counts as part of the heat wave. definitely feeling better with lower humidity and a breeze, dew point right now, 63 degrees. if you remember yesterday evening the dew point was 75 degrees. that is a huge difference. right now we are in the not bad range, and it really doesn't feel too bad out here. definitely still hot but not insufferable. storm scan three shows a few showers and storms firing up to the south and west as we zoom out you can see a few more and they are heading our way throughout the overnight hours especially for areas off to the south, and right around

chopper three over the scene at philadelphia mills this morning. police say three men walk in the sales jewelry store about 10:30 and used sledge ham tours smash cases and getaway with diamond rings and gold. police are hoping to get more information from mall security cameras. "eyewitness news" on the scene after a car crashes in the building in voorhees. elderly woman was attempting to reverse her car in the parking lot and accidentally accelerated in the building. woman sitting in her desk inside was hit by a car. fortunately registered nurse saw the accident and was able to help that injured woman escape the crash. >> at that point it blew up, it went boom. at that point i was thinking of running out of the building because fire came through glass tops on me and then what i did was started to drag her on the rug. it blew blew up again at that point i was than the worrying about it i was trying to get her out of the door and i pick her up and i drag her out of the building. >> would the man was taken to a local hospital where she's

on the cbs-3 healthwatch, the future of medicine with a smart pill that monitors when a patient, takes the medication. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here to explain how this one works. >> this is kind of tricky. check it the out. >> it is not been widely used just yet but smart pills could emit a signal from the stomach notifying credits remotely when a patients are taking their prescribed medications. >> riley kenman has to take medication twice a day after having a kidney transplant, pills keep her body from rejecting the kidney that she got from her dad. these just aren't any pills each one has a tiny sensor that activates inside riley's stomach and transmits signal to the patch that she wears. technology then send data to her doctors and parent, through a tablet alerting them

hopefully we will not see that one again this year but you never know we do still have have rest of august and september to get through. storm scan three shows us a a few showers that have fizzled back toward harrisburg area but there are more where those are coming from. as we side even out and zoom down to the south you can see showers, storms really firing up over higher terrain here of west virginia, into the state of of virginia and back in kentucky as well. that is what will be moving, generally to our south, through first part of the overnight. between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. will be focus for these storms to get going a cross the region. take a look at temperatures and what it feels like. it feels better then it felt at this time yesterday. this time yesterday feeling like 105, now feels 15 degrees cooler then that. eighty-nine. feels like 90. that is close. still feels like upper 90's this dover and wildwood and 80's in reading and allentown. improvement has begun. it will be gradual but it is here. future weather does show showers and storms by 9:00 p.m. approaching eastern maryland over delaware and

"eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff says it will impact tens of thousands of customers in pennsylvania. >> reporter: for health care giant aetna their customers in the affordable care act exchange proved to ill and expensive thus chairman and ceo mark t burtleni that 2017 individual exchange coverage will be cut in 11 of 15 states. including, pennsylvania, where it serves around 31,000 customers. he sites pretaxed losses of more than 430 million, since january 2014. adding in part, as a strong supporter of public exchanges as a means to meet the needs of the uninsured we regret having to make this decision. aetna's decision follows similar scale backs bayou nighted health care and humana

reporting from blue bell, alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". fire fighters are struggling to contain a wild fire burning out of control in the san bernardino county, california area. massive inferno is growing by the minute wiping out entire communities, in its path. correspondent chris martinez shows us what is causing that fire to burp with such intensity. >> reporter: massive blue cut wild fire has explode todd 30,000 acres about 60 miles east of los angeles. wild fire raced up and down ridges overnight burning entire neighborhoods to the ground. >> just devastating and it looks like it is just all the way around. so i looked that way and they won't let me go home. >> reporter: strong wind and dry brush has flames shooting thick black smoke 80 feet in the air. >> this is an area where fire fighters were overcome by flames and a couple were injured. >> reporter: more than a thousand fire crews were on the ground while helicopters and planes attack the monster blaze from the air. >> we're up against a fire

aid. they are also learning about disaster preparedness techniques and leadership skills. warning tonight about keeping your children safe in strollers and carriers. accidents are sending thousands of kid to the hospital each year. three on your side jim donovan tells you what you need to know to keep your little will ones out of harms way. >> reporter: when parents buy a stroller for their child safety is usually in mind but according to a new 21 year study in the journal academic pediatrics not every family is so careful. researchers found that 361,000 children age five and younger went to the emergency room for stroll error carrier-related injuries. that is two children every hour. topping the list of the most common injuries are children falling from the stroll error carrier, followed by the products tipping. >> products are generally safe, however, injuries do occur and these injuries can be is serious. >> reporter: traumatic brain injuries and concussions accounted for one quarter of the injuries. >> we know traumatic brain
