from leaving the country as authorities continue investigating whether the group was really robbed at gunpoint in rio. jack con ger were pulled off a plane that was bound for the u.s. lochte said they were with him and james feigen when robbed at dpap in a taxi after going out sunday. a judge suspects lochte is lying because of discrepancies in the gold metalist stories. police went to the olympic village to seize his passport but he already left brazil and is reportedly back in the. former bruce castor assumed the office today after the resignation of kathleen kane meanwhile talking to reporters outside of the former offices in scranton. kane called the last day as bitter sweet. she declined to comment about her legal troubles, instead choosing to revoke on her work as attorney general >> i hope people see we've done our best and i hope all the work

wine across the state including several here in the delaware valley. the ida in port richmond is the only one in philadelphia so far. >> other states where you can do this, and you know, it seems like like it's a long time for us to be able to do that. i wonder about pricing. >> reporter: customers at the shop rite in bensalem will be saving on gas >> the fact they're going to sell wine will make it more convenient. >> reporter: many shoppers cheered the convenience factor. barbara moore says the move may have unintended consequences >> the little neighborhood bars is where everybody used to go. the it puts a damper on their cash-outs. >> reporter: a liquor control board spokes woman says the stores have to submit applications and become certified through the responsible alcohol management program.

work before the summer is over. the philadelphia police department is mourning their former commissioner, john timoney lost his battle. he was recruited by ed rendell in nate. he served as philadelphia police commissioner four years which included the 2000 republican convention. after philadelphia, john timoney served as police chief in miami. of he was 68 years old. two years ago, fire destroyed a fixture in old city but it's what construction workers recently found that's making headlines. at 11:00 the discovery that dates back hundreds of years. of a local hotel among the targets of possible hackers, what the breach means for guests when "eyewitness news" continues.

♪ . a philadelphia hotel is among several others that may have been hit by hackers. guests who stayed at the we have thein philadelphia between december 15 and june 2016 may have had had their credit cards compromised as a result of a hack. a total of 20's hotels and the district of columbia were targeted. as with any breach consumers are not liable for fraudulent charges on the credit cards. new tonight thanking first responders for the job they do. august 17th has been named first responders appreciation day until. designated to thank fire department emt and police department for the service in the community and several participated including this one in lawncrest that put together a

city progressed but it's an important reminder of were what once was >> one of the most wonderful things about history is when it's newly discovered >> it turned tragedy into a new passion for history. get enough of the remains of the stone prison. >> it leads to something this serious >> david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> incredible history. >> things we don't even know about. it's incredible. >> let's talk about this weather and some storms may be headed our way >> nasty storms right now, especially if you're in delaware. these storms are tearing through the first state. they got strong winds associated and lots of lightening. a lot of us were woken up last night by rumbles of thunder and/s of lightening. we're seeing that once again south of philadelphia. let's take a look at what's going on outside right now. and the shore is one spot that is going to get hit quickly these storms are moving east rapidly about 45 miles an hour as they tear through delaware and head into south jersey.

anybody out on the boardwalk you're going to want to get off and clear the streets because these storms are pretty nasty. let's take a look at them. stormscan 3 showing that line of storms extending through new castle delaware, the strongest storm south of wilmington, south of i95 right now. right along the kent and new castle county border here and also storms now pushing into sussex county. these have warnings associated. the warning that was in effect for northern kent and new castle has expired 11:15, a few more as this line of storms continues to push east. to the north motely rain, shores developing but the strongest thunderstorms are over delaware and south jersey this evening. again you can see that being shape of that storm as it moves through portions of delaware an indication that it can have strong gusty winds, southern kent county through as you say sex, until 11 7b p.m. to the south.

11:45 to the north and the strongest storms off to the south philadelphia. we will pick up rain and possibly a loud crack of thunder a few flashes of lightening here tonight. what to expect through the rest of tonight. you can see showers and storms mainly staying south philadelphia. we willic pick up a few showers and thunderstorms. even tomorrow morning, showers you around, you may wake up to cloudy gloomy conditions. of the sun returns in the afternoon, with just a stray shower here or there. showers and storms, some could be severe, we're seeing right now, mainly off to the south, biggest threat heavy rain fall, strong wind gusts and also that frequent lightening which could lead to the threat for power outages. temperatures, warm in philadelphia. we got the urban heat island going on, 84 degrees, the rest of region dropped back to the 70's and mount poconos at 68's we did add another day to our heat wave. 91 degrees was the daytime high

making it an eight-day heat wave the longest overseason but today was the coolest and certainly felt a whole lot better with the feels like temperatures in 90's instead of the triple digits. we got to be grateful for small favors. saturday showers and storms emerge in the afternoon as we await the next cold front. this cold front is the one finally going to put ab end to the heat wave once and for all and usher in cooler drier air next week. we got to wait for monday, tuesday, wednesday before that happens. the latest on tropical storm fiona is now a tropical storm with winds sustained at 40 miles an hour, gusts to 50, should stay that way, will not threaten land at least through monday, looks like the same front i told you about my help to steer that storm and keep it out to sea as we get into next week, keep a close eye on it but the tropics heating up. tomorrow starts with a shower then the sun be friday we're back to 90 and near 90 both days this weekend with pop-up
