seen leaving their taxi and made to sit on the ground with their hand in the air but brazilian police official said this is confrontation with the security guard over damaged to a bathroom not an armed robbery. this new information contradicts what ryan lochte claimed earlier this week. >> pulled out his gun, he cocked it, put it to my forehead and said get down. i said whatever. >> reporter: lochte has already left brazil but jimmy feigen and conger and bents were pulled off the plane after a judge ruled she wanted to hear from them again brazilian authorities began doubting the report when their stories didn't match. lock can i first said there was a single gunman. feigen said there were several. on wednesday lochte changed his story to say two gunman. one olympic official is defending the swimmers. >> they had fun, they made a mistake, part of the life. >> reporter: spokesperson for team u.s.a. say american athletes are cooperating with the investigation. now the swimmers did not call

police, after the incident, lochte apparently told his mother he was rob, she then told reporter, and then the story took off. police are investigating a triple shooting in philadelphia's kensington neighborhood that left two teenage boys, injured. this happened just after 2:30, this afternoon on the 2900 block of waterlou street. police say a 36 year-old man a a 17 year-old boy were both rushed to the hospital in critical condition. another 17 year-old is in stable condition. no word on what sparked that shooting. and a huge, child pornography bust in chester county end in two arrests and more than 50,000 images seized. the 57 year-old lawrence jamison and 25 year-old john brown, both face a number of charges, and police say they searched jamison's residents in malvern earlier this month and discovered pair were creating, child pornography as well. they are both behind bars. and today police arrested 40 men in the massive crackdown on the distribution of child pornography, in new jersey. officials say the six month

investigation dubbed operation statewide, tracked child porn images and videos circulating on internet file sharing networks to individual ip addresses and that led police to home addresses in each of the states, 21 counties. >> the people who engage in viewing and sharing images and videos of child rape are at a much greater risk in engaging in direct misconduct. so that makes investigations like these and prosecutions like these even more important. >> former teacher and a school custodian are a monk the suspects now facing charges. there has been a slight improvement in the condition of the last remaining hospitalized survivor of the pulse nightclub shooting. patient has been in critical condition, since the mass shooting in orlando on june 12th. doctors say the patient's condition was upgraded to guarded on tuesday, and no other information was given and we do not know the patient's identity. forty-nine people were killed when the pulse nightclub

attack and more than 50 others were injured. former nfl star darren sharper will spend the next 18 years of his life in federal prison. sharper has pleaded guilty in federal court in new orleans to drugging three women so he could rape them. prosecutors suggested a nine year prison term under a multi jurisdictionallal plea deal but the judge reject it, as too lenient in june. sharper still awaits sentencing for charges he pleaded guilty or no contest to three other cities, stemming from allegations that he drugged, and raped women. chicago a's police superintendent says he will recommend the firing of the seven officers, who filed false report in the deadly police shooting of laquan mcdonald. october 2014 shooting was captured on dash cam video. officer jason van dike shot mcdonald 16 times, he was charged with first degree murder after video was made public the following year. this city's police ward will make the the final decision on whether the others will be facing charges.

new at 5:30, fire and fear in will california. fire officials say this wild fire in san bernardino county is one of the worst they have ever seen. one fire chief put it bluntly. there will be a lot of families that come home to nothing. more than 80,000 people are told on get out. chris martinez reports from the ground from wrightwood california. >> massive blue cut fire creeps ever closer to wrightwood a community east of los angeles, the wild fire has forced evacuation of thousands, since it flared up tuesday morning but some, like john, and reagan irwin have for now stayed behind. >> we're pack up, ready to go. >> our whole life is here. everything we own is in this place. >> reporter: fire crews are attacking the fire from the ground and heavily from the air but have struggled to keep it from growing. on tuesday, flames ripped through neighborhood in the town of ph elan destroying homes, strong wind have helped spread flames making it tough for fire crew toss keep up this fire ran the opposite direction and up canyon established itself in all these canyons which car think fire in the bunch of different directions. >> reporter: more than 1500 fire fighters are now bat telling fire that is burning in an area larger then the city of san francisco. >> i don't want to have to start over again with nothing.

>> reporter: blue cut fire is one of the nine major fires burning in california, and the governor has declared a state of emergency. in wright wood, california, chris martinez for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". days of catastrophic flooding could plunge parts of the southern louisiana in the worst housing crisis since hurricane katrina. this most recent disaster is blamed for at least three deaths and has damaged more than 40,000 homes. authorities say that clean up could be costly because only about 21 percent of the louisiana homeowners have flood insurance. >> we actually lost everything in katrina, came here, and we lost everything again. >> i know it is material things and you can always get them back but it just crushes you you feel violated. >> reporter: louisiana national guard has been activate todd help with continued search and rescue missions. dozens of dogs from louisiana, animal shelters have a new home in texas. spca in dallas took them in so

you can see cloud around this morning, jenny says after a rough start the sun came out, and turned into a blue sky afternoon. lets look at live neighborhood network sites. we will show you off west of the city here in reading at whitefeel elementary school. berks county has gotten brunt of the nasty wet they are week. tonight no such thing. we are dry for now but you can see we do have a few showers starting to drift toward the poconos, toward lehigh valley as well. most of those fizzled before they make it here but there could be a pop up sprinkle north and west tonight and then looks like tomorrow will be a dry day. we will time it out here, a couple of sprinkles here and there in the poconos mostly rain free, but tomorrow looks like a generally dry day. i'm concerned of a cell popping up down the shore late tomorrow afternoon. that is best chance to pick up anything tomorrow, otherwise we will keep it quiet. saturday same story, more humid day, few pop up showers and storms in the afternoon but nothing major at least until we get into sunday when

our next cold front comes through and precipitation chances ramp up to 60 percent. monday would be early, early morning if it happens and then we will clear it out and we will get to tap into this nice cool canadian air. jet stream plunges southward and we have a notable cool down on the way early next week. overnight we are looking at a temperature of 72 degrees, isolated thunderstorm to the north and west. tomorrow mostly sunny hot and dry maybe that one little pop up storm heading toward shore points. here's latest on fiona, we are monitoring this cell, another tropical wave that came off the coast of africa and looks likely to eventually develop into tropical storm or hurricane gaston we will keep you posted on. that right now fiona has gusts of 60 miles an hour. it keeps this storm as we head into next week by tuesday approaching bermuda but that front i just mentioned coming through our area sunday night into monday should help keep that system out to sea and away from the east coast. we are steamy through weekend.

angeles fire natos have been spinning up. i headed up to franklin institute where we got a real life demonstration on how they storm. fire devils, dragon twists or fire natos, terms with the apocalyptic air for scientific phenomenon. the fire for nato is tornado like in appearance but their formation location is opposite, to that of a traditional tornado. >> unlike tornado that will start from the top and work its way down, the fire tornado starts at bottom and moves its way up. it is an upside down, funnel that is happening. >> reporter: also unlike atmosphere tornado which requires moist air the fire nato feeds off of hot dry air which is why they form in conjunction with wild fires. as hot air rises from the ground it forms in the vertical column. a vortex is then formed by is what called angular momentum, a principal also demonstrated, by figure skating. >> this is just like a figure

cleve bryan spoke with the home owner today and joins us live with more on that, cleve. >> shooting involved troopers from the bridgeton station here and it is an active investigation with the new jersey state attorney general's office. so, when we spoke to the survivor of gerald sykes at advice of his attorney he could not talk about details about the case but he does tell us it was his mind that kept him going as his body was failing. >> had that been another half inch i wouldn't be here. >> reporter: gerald sykes has battled back from the brink of death just before midnight july 29th upper deerfield resident was shot in his home by state police who were at his house by mistake investigating a 911 hang up call. >> i'm doing pretty good. i'm alive. beginning to feel better. a lot of the pain subsiding now. >> reporter: authorities said that the night of the incident two troopers knocked on sykes front door and didn't get a response so they check around back. as they shined their flashlights in the glass doors there was an
