shot, schuylkill headlights moving in the eastbound direction. this is before spring garden, looking really nice out there. i will say that the schuylkill is starting to heat up in the west and east east bound direction and then vine we were looking at just moment ago very busy moving in the westbound treks trying to get to that schuylkill. you can see brake lights but overall looking better now then it did just ten minutes ago. ninety-five south at girard gorgeous, gorgeous sky out there but you will tap your brakes on i-95 and then an accident in dresher susquehanna road at limekiln pike involving a motorcycle. we have to look out for our friend on bikes. also another accident investigation in whitpain involving a penndot truck a that went in the pole, north wales road is closed around yost pike. use dekalb pike or whitehall road as your best bet. jim, over to you. breaking news this morning a powerful earthquake rocks central italy. look at the this devastation.

at least 37 people are new dead but that number is expected to rise. as tina krause reports many old building collapsed on top of people while they were sleeping. >> reporter: rescue teams pulled quake victims from the ruble as day break began to show devastation in amatrice, frantic residents and emergency workers used buckets, bulldozers and even their hand to dig through the debris. u.s. geological survey says the magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck at 3:30 in the morning while most italians were asleep. several after shocks followed. hardest hit towns and villages are in the mountains of central italy about 100 miles north east of rome. mayor of one hard hit town says family of four was trapped under a collapsed building with no signs of life. while mayor of amatrice says quote the town isn't here anymore. he made a plea for more help to clear the streets and rescue the injured. the office of italian prime minister tweeted out

equipment is on the the way. this family talk was pull from the small space carved in one collapsed home. the rescuers are still digging hoping to find survivor. tina krause for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new this morning someone shot and killed a father after a dispute inside a west philadelphia house. police say his children were home when the shots were fired. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live, from the scene where police are still trying to figure out what happened, justin, good morning report report brooke and jim, good morning, initial crime scene investigation is now over, however, detectives are now looking for a man who was here inside this house, with his girl friend, her two children and her ex-partner. we are told inside that home a fight involving all three adults broke out with that fatal shot being fired, that ex-partner and father reportedly gun down in front of his own children. police flashlights focused on the second floor room inside this row house where trouble

and tragedy erupted some hours before. just after midnight 16th district officers were called to the 800 block of north marco street after reports of the domestic dispute, and then another call. >> there was responding to the location a second call came from the 911 system at 12:23 saying someone was shot inside. >> reporter: thirty-three three-year old died a short time later at penn presbyterian. they call him ex-partner of the woman inside that house with her two children and her boyfriend, with her ex-partner apparently benton breaking inside. >> as they are inside the house they hear him coming through the second floor window and enters in the front bedroom where new boyfriend is, and he starts fighting with the female first, then starts fighting with the new boyfriend and at some point a gun is pull. >> reporter: shots fired. three three-year old hit in his chest. woman's boyfriend apparently left the scene leaving homicide detectives with only the mother and her two children to recount what happened inside their home.

he bled to death. bail has been set at one million-dollar. in other news there is in word when jerry sandusky will be back in court for next step in his appeals process. sandusky is seeking a new trial. his appeals hearing evened yesterday after three days in center county, pennsylvania. the hearing focused on alleged problems during 2012 trial in which sandusky was convicted of molesting ten boys. attorneys for former penn state assistant fat ball coach said they want to call more witnesses. reputed philadelphia mob boss joey merlino plead not guilt to racketeering charges in new york federal court. 594 year-old is accused of taking part in the health care fraud scheme. merlino was one of four dozen a alleged members of the east coast crime syndicate who were a rested and charged earlier this month. donald trump is still trying to sway minority voters. in texas the republican date also doubles down on his message to close the borders. he continues to hammer his

take a look, break lights going on. we are traveling at posted speeds there and starting to slow down here. the basically anywhere moving in the east and westbound directions of the schuylkill, it is really starting to slow down so give yourself a couple extra minutes, we will probably need it and then a disable vehicle pulled off to the shoulder. disable vehicle again on the schuylkill moving headlights moving this is westbound direction before 202. not causing too many slow counts but as you come around this ben it sneaks up. you are tapping your breaks and you'll have a gaper delay. give yourself a couple extra minutes. but 95 south at betsy ross bridge not looking bad at all. we are looking darn good there. lets get the you to the maps. thinks an accident 422 eastbound before route 29, that right lane is blocked and look at how slow it is, a lot of red, popping up, in longer traveling at posted speeds going 9 miles an hour and in where we are seeing that red you will not be moving at all in some spots.

then another accident in dresher volumed motorcycle susquehanna road at limekiln pike and another investigation involving penndot truck that ran in the pole at north wales road at yost road. down pole. peco is directing traffic. jim, back over to you. updates are coming in from italy. thirty-seven people are reported dead and officials fear that number will continue to rise. u.s. geological surveys says earthquake measured a magnitude 6.2 and hit early this morning near the town of norice. amatrice was one of the areas hardest hit but mayor there says his town isn't there anymore. tremors from the quake were felt as far away from rome a hundred miles away. happening today we are expect to go learn more about a railing collapse that hurt dozens of people at snoop dog and wiz khalifa concert this month. forty-two people were hurt when railing gave way in camden's bb and t pavilion on august 5th.

attorney robert mongeluzzi represents 15 of the people hurt and he wanted concerts to stop at the pennsylvaniaville beyond until an investigation was completed. live nation operates pavilion and representatives say they have secure the section so concerts went on as plan. after spending decade behind bars for a crime did he not commit a philadelphia man is finally home with his family. anthony wright sat in prison for 25 years after being quick of raping and killing an elderly would hand in 1991. but thanks to dna and in 2013 another man was link to the crime. therefore exonerating wright. prosecutors tried the case again but this time a jury rendered a not guilty verdict. trash can, her family and her community were horrified. >> i was shock i could not believe it. >> reporter: esther reported to it police and they tell "eyewitness news" her property was only one tagged. one might assume she with lead charge to find a culprit, esther had a different idea. >> i called my dear friend, and neighbor and he reminded me that love always triumphs hate. high neighbor trove by and she said just put a smiling face on it. >> reporter: artist by trade she did one better, esther turn an hateful symbol in the piece of art and encourage her neighbors to do the same. she walk door to door with letters and her daughters posted request with social media paint something on your trash can esther wrote on facebook we can in our little way turn this symbol of hate into something beautiful. >> within minutes people were outside and painting their trash can. >> reporter: post has been liked close to 1500 times and shared in the country. >> in san francisco a

brotherly love two former patients are saying thanks, with toys. >> reporter: these one girls didn't meet until this summer but they shared the same story, and the same drive, to help. ten year-old brand and 12 year-old sophia from montgomery county know what it is like to be a kid stuck in the hospital n2014 sophia developed serious complications from the flu. >> i had to get surgery and had to put a tube in through my back and lungs. >> she was terrified. she was in pain. >> reporter: year later she had brain surgery to repair a malformation in her blood vessels. >> it was tiring, and painful, because i could not lift my head, i didn't want to watch tv, ever. >> reporter: girls didn't know each other but their mom, die lean and corry shay went to the same high school and reconnect through the magic of social media. >> sophia had gotten sick living in the hospital and
