so far and today starting off on a thursday morning, it is no exception. getting a live look right now at ocean city, new jersey, beautiful, the sky is on fire. we are about 20 minutes away from sunrise. beautiful conditions. temperatures are on a bit more mild as we start off on this thursday morning. 69 degrees in philadelphia. sixty-four allentown. 62 degrees in the poconos and 65 in wildwood. twenty-four hour temperature change, we are up in the positive numbers especially in the poconos, up about 10 degrees from this time yesterday. probably don't need that light jacket, where as earlier this week we to. we have quiet conditions up and down eastern seaboard. we have an area of disturbed area, with association of weak cold front moving through parts of the western pennsylvania. could push a few cloud toward poconos, maybe generate isolated thunder shower, high temperature at 79 degrees in the higher elevations. down the shore another beautiful beach day

broken collar bone and bumps and bruises and now detective are looking deeper in to the hit and run driver's whereabouts just before the crash. let's go to video of this toyota rav4 that police are calling the striking vehicle. it was town because police say an alert tow truck driver who saw the hit and run followed that suv and it 21 year-old male driver, just before 1:00 a.m. police say rav4 struck fifth district sergeant an inside swiped the police cruiser near main and shur lane in manayunk. we are told that sergeant and another officer were standing by a police cruiser that had lights on during a vehicle investigation involving a stopped car and then that rav4 was speeding south on main never stopping even after knock ago this uniformed sergeant 15 feet in the air and out of both of his shoes and hat. police sane that tow truck driver were watching and followed that toyota for about a mile. >> fifth district officers

were able to stop this toyota about a mile away in the 6,000 block of ridge after knew. the driver of the vehicle that hit the sergeant is a 21 year-old male and did appear to be under the influence of alcohol, so he was taken into custody. he will be transported to eighth and race, police headquarters where he will be processed for drunk driving. >> reporter: back live, police say again that the sergeant is in stable condition at einstein suffering there a broken collar bone as well as bumps and bruises. they say this could have been a much worse incident, again, as you heard that driver is now in police custody. we were told charges could include aggravated assault of the police officers as well as leaving the scene of an accident as well as any potential dui charges. we are live outside of einstein i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". brooke and jim, back inside to you. police are investigating a

double shooting in north philadelphia. police say just after 11:00 someone fired six shots in the home on north 25th street. one bullet hit a 28 year-old woman in the arm and is in stable condition. police say that the five three-year old man was found on the street shot in the leg and he too was in stable condition. there have been no arrests. camden county police are searching for the person who shot a eight year-old girl in the head while she was just standing outside of her house. it happened around 80:00 last night opiate and spruce, right now, the girl is fighting for her life at cooper university hospital. police chief scott thompson say they are looking at several possible suspects but in one is in custody. >> this is all hand on deck, lie in the sand moment. we're pulling out all of the stops to pull in the coward that opened fire on this city block. >> reporter: police are reviewing nearby surveillance video, anyone with any information should call 911. philadelphia police need your help tracking down a man accused of several sexual assaults in center city and

an alert tow truck driver who saw the hit and run followed this suv and its 21 year-old male driver and tipped off police. just before 1:00 a.m. authorities say that the rav4 struck fifth district sergeant an inside swiped police cruiser outside madd river bar. we are told that sergeant, said to be in his 50's was standing with another officer by a police cruiser when that rav4 came south on main street before making impact. he was hit with such force that both of the shoot were torn from the scene as well as his hat, torn from the head of the sergeant. there is no mistaken was a police officer. he was in full uniform standing next to the mark police vehicle with the overhead lights on in operation. >> reporter: looking back at einstein that sergeant is in stable condition and expect to

be held for observation. now that hit and run driver reportedly showed signs of impairment at the scene before being taken in custody. he has been breath liesed and police say his impairment driving charges could be stepped up to aggravated assault of a police officer. we are live outside einstein justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news", brooke and jim back inside to you. >> thanks, justin. investigators want to know how a woman fell to her death while zip lining in new castle delaware county. it happen at lums pond state park in bear on red lion road. delaware state police say the 59 year-old woman fell 40 feet yesterday afternoon at the go ape zip line and tree top adventure. she was taken to the hospital where she had died from her injuries. police who, excuse me people who have gone through the course in the past say safety procedures are thorough but you have to pay attention during the training. >> the staff basically takes you through how to hook up to the the wires as you go across

>> we have talked about vaccinations, babies, young children but college students also need to make sure their vaccinations are updated. >> that is true first thing if you haven't taken your child to back to college going to college physicals to the doctor make sure you do that because there are four big vaccines we need before going to college in addition to others. flu which will come out soon but meningitis vaccine, tetanus and hpv vaccine. those are big ones but there are others. one thing would i say throw in there is parents, it is also time to talk about that birds and bees talk and talk about substance abuse and positive relationship. this is time to do a little reconnaissance as we say a lot of times most universities and colleges have health resources on campus what do students need to know. >> great question because i think when your child goes off to college you want them to know where health center is, on campus health center.

necessity where resources are if your child needs a counselor or someone to talk to. it is important to give them and make sure they have their doctors from home information number and stuff. i get a number of calls from kids at college i know them and known them a long time. they may want to speak with that doctor from home but peer resources and advisors and make sure you transfer any prescription toss a local pharmacy where they are at school. >> a lot of you are familiar for this for freshman it is not uncommon to experience home sickness especially that first semester. you have some tips to help us, best to manage any stress and anxiety. >> i think anxiety happens when we go to college. i remember when we first went away i was so scared. few tips that we have, fierce of all getting enough sleep. up people not getting enough sleep that things can be difficult. exercising and eating healthy to stay balanced. prioritizing responsibilities. this is important. when you go to college it is first time when you can do what you want to do often.

you have to figure out how to balance those extracurriculars and schoolwork. so prioritizing. staying connect to family and friend. my childhood friends were saving grace, they helped he get through and your child might benefit too. speaking and seeking out health and make sure your child knows to have some fun, good old fashion fun and safe. it is college. >> speaking of the food i kept dominoness business during college but kid need to pick healthier options. >> we talk about the freshman 15 which i think i gain and so many of us height have gained. i'm sure you guys did but i was packing them on. sometimes it is first time we have buffet line you can go back and get more and more and more. couple things to make sure that you, you know, kids avoid snacking when they are studying and watching tv and doing those mind less tasks. we should avoid doing those thing too as adults. not skipping meals. eat regular meals. finally i had a retraining or
