"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at 30th street station, where some travelers say they're not looking forward to the change and i'm among them, justin. >> really? >> yes. >> reporter: jim, brooke, i'm sorry to say that it is so. it is changing. but not now, but very soon, this sign here will flip it last flap and travelers here at 30th street including you, jim, will have to track your trip using a state-of-the-art digital display. now most of us just know it as the amtrak sign. but in the industry, it is called a passenger information display, or silary board, named for the company that manufactures them. this one here believed to date back to at least the early 80s, and perhaps as popular for it function as its features specially that flipping sound. no word on if the new digital display will carry over the sound, but in recent years, amtrak officials say that this display is harder to fix, with

fewer parts to find, part that can also be pricy. amtrak promises new signs will be easier to read, and will benefit travelers with disabilities. digital displays have already been rolled out at other amtrak stations including washington, d.c. and baltimore new york penn station and philly will be next. as you might imagine, and just heard, there are mixed reviews about this. >> this is kind of traditional. i hate to see it go because it has been here for so many years. but time mars on. >> for me it doesn't really matter. as long as it works, as long as it shows the trains coming and going, that's what the people want to know. >> the history of the board is not lost on amtrak, especially not its employees, customers who use the station all the time are familiar with it, so we certainly will take that into account. >> reporter: so like it or not, that sign won't be here for much longer. but, no word on just exactly when amtrak plans to replace that sign, as for where the sign may end up, once it is

worth. we do have some shower and sprinkle activity ongoing, west of the i-95 corridor, so we will check out what's going on there right now. 7 degrees at eileen's house in gilbertsville, some clouds around, something to say about the forecast, the steam bath is back. that's for sure. and we will have these steamy conditions, taking us through the day today, but again, as we head into the upcoming weekends feeling much better. storm scan3 showing us little activity right now, mainly west of the i95 corridor. we do have couple of showers, though, starting to generate across parts of delaware, just couple of raindrops coming down in and around the little creek area, east of dover. as we head northbound, been dealing with the shower continuing to dissipate, but bringing little bit of light rainfall from pottstown making its way into phoenixville. headed poolside today, though, don't think you'll have to worry about the shower activity because over the next several hours, those showers will start to dissipate. decrease in clouds into the afternoon, justin, hot, humid, 93, the pool is a place to be today. >> i'm with you there, pool to

the heat and humidity return. now, all eyes are on the weekend forecast. today is friday, august 26, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> hey there, i'm become thomas. we have lauren and justice in the studio today hanging out in for katie and meisha, they're off today. good morning. >> good morning, so far so good as far as traffic goes. at least the weather not causing any delays, but typical rush hour, heading to us, but hot one out there, right, lauren? >> hot and steamy, break out the shorts and t's, friday will be a steam bath. but it will be brief. so we just have to get through today, improving conditions as we head into the upcoming weekend. certainly mild start to our day. 76 degrees right now in philadelphia, that dew point is way up into the low 70s, so, feeling humid, down the shore, at 74 degrees, right now, in the poconos, mild start to the day, as well, at 69 degrees. winds out of the west, little bit after breeze, at around 8 miles per hour. storm scan3, showing us, we do have couple of showers around right now, cold front is making it way through the delaware valley.
