good morning, guys. tgif. i can tell you right now roads are being look really good. a lot of construction out there. yikes, katie, you're bus. >> i yes, we have stuff to talk about for sure. hermine still expected to have indirect impact on our area, closer to the coast, the bigger the impact will be. let's wack you through it, show you the latest that you know. keep in mind, too, guys, ever changing and evolving situation that we're facing here. so the very latest now that hermine has actually since been downgraded to tropical storm. it did make landfall as a hurricane, for the first time in many years, it still has very well defined organization, but it is starting to lose some of its u m.p.h. when it comes to wind speed, regardless, this rain is heavy, it is flooding, and it is going to continue to my great its way up the coastline, toward us. so, we're sort of beading our time at this point. now, this is not the kind of a situation that we dealt with when we had, for example, a hurricane sandy. however, it still will have pretty significant impact at the shore line where we end up with not just some very strong

to surf rip current, but potential for coastal flooding, beach errosion, all of the things that tends to go along with systems that ride up the coast like this. now, again, the latest in from the hurricane center, this is now tropical storm, icon that will auto renter self with time. again, tropical storm now hermine, and if you look at the current guidance when it comes to forecast models, you have got a lot of variety here, now the bulk of the activity, look at this, you see all of the zig-zag, it is almost like the system wants to set up shop off shore, and pass nice long visit, for days, i mean, goings all the way out to wednesday. so it does appear as though it will make close path through our area possibly stall nearby, however, it could be a matter of 50 miles, whether you see some impact, or virtually no impact out of this system. much more on that, as the show goes on. but for now, hey, today's gorgeous. 80 degrees, at the shore, you have got lower humidity, full sunshine, so at least today isn't a wash, and whole weekends isn't wiped clean

two left lanes blocked there also until around 6:00 a.m. brooke, over to you. >> thank you, meisha. officials at the jersey shore are telling people to prepare for heavy rain and winds, this weekend. people in ocean city spent thursday on the beach and boardwalk under gray skies. lifeguards have been dealing with rough surf and rip current, but cape may, atlantic counties are advising people not to cancel plans just yet. >> this is a point in time where the storm so far, not discouraging anybody. just be prepared for weather should it happen. >> officials say tidal flooding is a big concern with the storm like hermine. >> rain and winds could also cause trouble for the made in america festival in philadelphia. we are expecting more information from organizers later today about their plans to deal with the weather. right now, crews are busy with the finishing touches getting everything ready for the crowds. you can always stay ahead of severe weather with the cbs philly weather app. available on itunes and google play. >> hurricane hermine bear down on florida big ben area after

making landfall overnight. category one storm already took aim at the state's gulf coast areas, with heavy rain. don champion with the latest from the florida panhandle. >> reporter: hurricane hermine pummeled parts of florida's panhandle with heavy rains and forceful winds, shortly before making landfall overnight. in the coastal community of pasco county last night, people tried enjoying the scene before the board walk was inundated with water. >> hopefully everybody is safe. other than that, i'm here to play. >> this is life threatening. >> earlier in the day the state's governor warned people to take the storm seriously, as hermine shredded up roads, and erroded beaches along the gulf coast. in the hard hit town of apalachicola, some stock up on food. >> it is pretty nerve wracking, you know, you see the trees bending, the waves blowing up over the rocks. >> others boarded up their businesses, and got out. >> just for the safety of our

employees, businesses, as well, we will be closing up. >> in low-lying areas, hundreds of residents were told to evacuate ahead of the storm. >> my wife wants to get some her valuables out, some stuff from her mother, irreplaceable. >> still some chose to ride it out. >> my property will like lie not flood. but my neighbors all around me will. >> florida had not been hit by a hurricane in over a decade. don champion, for cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> and stay with "eyewitness news" as we continue to track now tropical storm hermine. we'll have updates here on tv and always on our website cbsphilly.com. >> breaking news, in philadelphia's mayfair neighborhood. >> police say someone hit and killed a bicyclist, then drove off. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live on the scene with the latest on the investigation this morning. justin, what can you tell us? >> reporter: brooke, joe, at this hour, the city accident and investigation division is on the case finding, they say,

significant and distinctive pieces of a car that they believe struck and killed a 43 year old biker, less than mile from his home. looking out at video from the investigation, overnight, 15th district police were called to the 5800 block of frankford avenue, at about quarter to 1:00 a.m. they and medics found a man bleeding heavily, with severe head and upper body trauma. his injuries so severe, police say, there was not much responders could even do. the victim, age 43, was pronounced dead on scene, on the edge of wissinoming park. meantime, investigators found pieces of the likely striking vehicle which include driver side mirror. officials say the car likely silver or champagne in color, with heavy front ends damage. police also say the biker may have been traveling in marked bike lanes, with flashing lights on, on his bike. the driver appears to have been going north, then struck the victim, popped the curb, and mode down septa bus stop

sign, and just kept going. police now urging that driver to come forward. >> my message to that individual that struck this person, there is still time to turn yourself in, do the right thing, don't wait for the police to identify, and come and get you. it will only make things a lot worse for you. so, the best thing for you to do, call 911, or go to the nearest police station, turn yourself in immediately. >> and, you are looking live at that septa bus stop sign, that was just snapped in half by the impact of this crash. police also say the impact snapped that biker's bike in half, launching 100 feet. driver of the bike, some 50 feet here. police are also saying surveillance video in the area may have caught the crash as it happened, hopefully more details about that car. we're live here in the mayfair section, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", brooke, joe, back into you. >> thanks, justin. >> right now, four year old girl is in stable condition,

after she was hit by a car, chopper three, was over the scene, in the 4200 block of l street in juniata. it happened around 8:00 last night, police say the girl ran out into the street before she was hit. she had a broken arm, and head trauma, and was taken to the hospital. listed initially in critical condition. the driver did stop and we're told dui is not suspected. new this morning, police say, a man was murdered in the city's kingsessing section. investigators tell us the man was standing in front of a day care center when he was shot. it happened after 11:00 in the 1800 block of 58 street. the victim died at the hospital. police are using surveillance cameras from surrounding businesses to help in their investigation. >> rowan university is disconnecting water fountains and selling filters and providing bottled water after tests revealed lead in the water. >> student returned to rowan this week. the school received reports of discolored water and tests were immediately conducted. officials say it is okay to

shower, but bottled water will be used for brushing teeth, cooking and drinking. the search is on for the source of the lead. officials say it could be making it way into the water from older pipes. campaign 2016 is in town today, donald trump is set to make a stop in philadelphia. we'll tell you who he will be meeting with today, and the other major item on his schedule. 49ers quarter ban colin kaepernick gets cold reaction from the crowd during last night's game against the chargers. we'll show you what he did differently during the national anthem, and the reason the nashville police group is now condemning him. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> our friends at 96.5, radio

>> back now campaign 2016, less than 70 days, until election day, and donald trump is going to be in philadelphia to meet with african-american leaders, right now, we're going to switch it up. looking at, all right, having some technical issues there, sore bye that, let's get back to campaign 2016. that was live look out of tampa, florida, but moving, donald trump will be in philadelphia today, to meet with african-american leaders. take part in round table discussion at venue on north broad street. trump also said to receive another classified briefing from us intelligence officials today. thursday the republican nominee for president spoke to the american legion convention in cincinnati, the same event hillary clinton attended this week. trump once again topped immigration, standing by by, meanwhile, donald trump's wife started a lou suit, says two published false statements about her alleged involvement

with escort agency. and hillary clinton will begin traveling on a larger campaign plane with her traveling press corps. the clinton campaign will also begin running tv commercials today in arizona. of course arizona is traditionally red state that has not voted for democrat for president since 1996. >> the new jersey man who killed a tsa officer and hurt three others in a rampage at lax is pleading guilty. paul cianci cut a deal with prosecutors in exchange for guilty plea authorities will not seek the death penalty. he was charged with murdering officer hernandez in november of 2013. he was shot before being arrested, and announced he's facing life in prison. >> colin kaepernick under scrutiny for once again refuse to go stand during the national anthem. >> and he's hearing it from some fans. boo's heard. >> kaepernick took the field for the 49ers last pre-season

game last night, of course he did not stands during the star spangled banner, this time he was joined by teammate eric read. kaepernick also angered law enforcement for previously wearing socks depicting pigs in police uniforms. >> very interesting. >> katie, we know you are busy. how about today? it is fantastic taught there there. >> at least not l -- follow the forecast with pleasant weather. turn our focus, chance to plan around what's going on with hermine, by the way, if you haven't heard yet, from the national hurricane center, hermine now downgraded again to a tropical storm. so, it only had short window of hurricane strength, before then it moved on shore. and has since had a chance to weaken in terms of its wind field. out to everything going on, first, just a look at the storm itself. go further south on storm scan3, very well organized system still, losing some of its strongest winds speeds, so it has been downgraded although flooding rain is

vicious across the southeast, that's what essentially headed our way. essentially on northeast track here, currently moving at about 14 miles per hour, so we have some time to kill before this get here. for now, it is beautiful. really have nice day that's unfolding. we do, however, have tropical storm watches, that's what you are finding shaded in the pink from north carolina all the way up the new jersey shore line. and more specific to our area, the tropical storm watch is going to impact us right through the weekends, so, technically, it lasts until 1:57 a.m. not that we're specific or anything here in our area. but regardless, it is to goes to last you through the course of the weekends. little bit more technical and talk about where this is actually headed. here is a look at the most current storm track, i mention north to northeast movement currently at 14 miles per hour, with pretty decent minimal central pressure of 988. in other words, it is still pretty strong system, but it is most sustained winds speeds up to 70 miles per hour, means cut off from the criteria of being anything stronger than tropical storm. and even by the time it reaches our area, it will still be specifically or

technically off shore, we think, although this cone of uncertainty does broaden out as you hit the upcoming weaken. but notice, from saturday, to wednesday, it is still here. that whole time. so it is stalling off shore, thankfully, looks like it is stalling off sharp, but that's going to keep that rip current and strong surf risk out there for days on end. it maybe plans to travel to the shore at that point, so, this is going to be a prolonged issue for us. several scenarios we're watching, you know, if this heads little further inland, you're going to end up with very heavy rain and winds at the coast, beach errosion, coastal flooding, i would say, pretty much given right now. if this by chance does manage to stay out to sea, further inland you go, this may not end up having much of impact at all. could you still keep your outdoor plans. win speeds, quickly, tracking what happens here, the strongest winds could start to pick up as early as saturday day evening, specific to the delaware beaches, and jersey shore lines with the core of circulation again off shore.

but talking anywhere 30, 40, up up to 50, 06-mile per hour gusts at that point, so this could definitely be with us for couple of days. the beach, not the nicest place to travel to in the days ahead courtesy of hermine. so, for now, hey, at least this is good stuff. pleasant, low humidity, high hits 82, but it does starting to downhill, meisha, as we hit the weekends. over to you. >> i see that, like you said, katie, for now things looking okayment actually looking good in the world of travel, as women. morning, guys, tgif to you. talcony pal mia bridge scheduled to open right about now. heads up on that. new jersey 42 freeway northbound at creek road, 295, guys, starting to heat up here already. for a friday morning, typically see it start little later. but already, seeing a lot of vehicles out there getting jump start to the weekends probably not a bad idea if you have to work, right? ninety-five south past cottman, as we push in the southbound direction, i would say, we're heating up here, as women. northbound side is also pretty

busy, for a friday morning. so, northbound, though, not really worried b southbound side already heating up. we know from what happened yesterday morning, from that early accident that we had, where we were just slammed on interstate 95, you might actually see a lot of people jump out there little earlier today, saying just in case. so, that might be why it is a little busier there. also construction 295 southbound between paulsboro and commodore barry bridge, left lane blocked until around 5:00 a.m. more construction coming up in a little bit. brooke, over to you. >> thanks, meisha. philadelphia's bike share program now offers vallet parking. the new program is to help riders who sometimes have trouble finding a bike during rush hour in center city. vallet bike parking is now available monday through friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. at 18th and jfk boulevard. the program runs through the ends of the month. >> and here is a look at newspaper headlines from around our region. >> from the daily times, police say couple traveled 200 miles to the delaware
