well, we're in the middle of another hot and steamy day a heat advisory is in effect for our area. if you have to be outside in it like these construction workers in center city, take it easy and stay hydrated. many area students just went back to school, this weekend and they are already getting a break. this heat is forcing some local schools to call an early

dismissal today. good afternoon i'm natasha brown in for brooke. aim jim donovan. will we sweat through the entire weekend lets get a first look the at the forecast with meteorologist katie fehlinger live on the cbs-3 sky deck, katie. >> thankfully it looks like we will see relief through the course of the weekend but for now heat is here and that advisory you mentioned lasted until 6:00 this evening until it end up getting extended for yet another day. heat index values are high, already, as we hit high noon here. we will start off by looking at the actual advisory itself and again, last until 6:00 tonight as of right now for entire state of delaware, spilling in maryland and across southeastern pennsylvania and west central new jersey. it is your most urbanized corridor and out toward resort towns it is hot. when we look at these feels like values, guys, this is brutal stuff. it feels like it is in the triple digits in dover, delaware. when we see magenta on the contour happen it is getting very, very steamy. even at hunt poke help it feels like 80's.

allentown at 91. these are values that factor into the heat index with the humidity. actual air temperatures are in the upper 80's right now. storm scan at least that is quiet, we have more sun right now in the city and most every where else, then anything, and as day progresses we anticipate you will top off officially right around 93, coming offfully close to a very long standing record. that was last set this 1884. we will see how we do. we will get enough unshine we may break that record but regardless still calling at this point for high of 93 degrees in the city. there could still be a spotty shower, thunderstorm with enough heating of the day to get that willing. it would be a scattered situation if it happens out there but regardless, still hot, and still steamy, and eventually this will wind down but not the even as we hit tomorrow. we will have more details on timing on when that will occur , brooke.

and, announcement yesterday that they would be closing all schools today, at noon time, because of the excessive heat. they tried to give an early head up for people who have young children so they can make plans but because it is too hot to learn it is also too hot, to play sports. they have cancelled all after school activities, just like you would have on a snow day because transportation closing down the buildings, they have cancelled the after school activity but they have extended that to tomorrow. so that means, no high school football, of course, which will disappoint a lot of people. i asked school district athletic director about the decision. >> a lot of our teams do play

on turf. we have that added heat help it becomes very hot. you have extra pads, and helmets and it is a full game. not a scrimmage or practice where you can take time and cool off inside it is a full game that we have to play and it is just very concerning to have that, during this heat advisory. >> reporter: now do you think kid would be running out of school. they are meandering because it is so hot right now. with this high school football games, nine of the 12 cancelled are in division. the those will be played on monday, but the three that are out of district will have to be scheduled when it accommodates the other school. live from ben franklin high school i'm cleve bryan, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks very much, cleve. developing this noon, florence township school district is under lock down while police search for a shooting suspect. chopper three over the scene at west front street between woodlawn and bodine street. this is closed for police investigation. we are told a person was shot in the arm there. police are searching for a man wearing dark clothing, and

long pants with a towel wrapped around his head. in one is allowed in or out of florence township schools at this time, but district officials say that all of the students, and staff are safe. well, still this afternoon police in hunting park section of philadelphia are searching surveillance video for the gun man who hot three time right off of their bicycles early this morning. it happened around 1:30 near fifth and erie when a 17 year-old boy was shot in the back, and his 18 year-old friend was shot in the leg. a 44 year-old man was also, shot in the back. and they are all in stable condition, the at this point at temple hospital. natasha in other news a driver is under arrest and facing several charges, this noon for allegedly leading police on a chase through two philadelphia neighborhoods. now, amazingly no one was seriously hurt. street southbound on e street. >> reporter: frantic moments in kensington thursday night captured on police radio. investigators say a woman in the stolen vehicle drove at police into an officer was forced to open fire. >> at this point in time, the vehicle behind me, fan, operator of that cherokee came toward the officer. the officer discharged his weapon, one time. >> reporter: this started around 9:30 at e and clearfield street. police were just wrapping up a traffic stop when they spotted a woman in her 30's traveling wrong way on clearfeel. the officer's shot, shattered the windshield but even that didn't stop the driver. injured were told she kept going down wrong way down e street, another one way street. she was driving the vehicle before it was stolen just yesterday. >> we know the vehicle is stolen. that is at least one reason that we know. don't know if she was in in other status. we know that is one of the reasons she alluded police. >> reporter: after a 2-mile chase, police eventually caught up to the suspect, in port richmond. this was the scene overnight at ann and richmond streets.

the suspect's suv on two wheels and pinned by philadelphia police crews. >> particularly in this case when it is somebody, at you, everybody is, significantly injured. >> reporter: woman was arrested and taken to temple for treatment of a minor injury. police say they do believe the that the woman was hit in the finger by the gun fire but overall they say that she's lucky that she wasn't killed and lucky she didn't seriously injure officer or anybody else who lives nearby. reporting outside round house jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". pennsylvania has first case have of zika virus transmitted through sex. department of health says that the patient had sex with their partner who had traveled to a area where zika transmission is occurring. officials are recommending residents who traveled to zika affect area to practice safe sex. zika is a illness that has been linked to birth defects including microcephaly which causes new borns to be born, with smaller than normal

heads. wells fargo is facing a massive fine, and you could get money soon. regulators say employees created about 2 million bank and credit card accounts on behalf of customers, but those customers didn't know about it. then the employees would move money from the customer's real accounts and, came back, all of the affect customers. and i wanted to apologize for an inappropriate air gesture that made it on our air a short time ago after

donald trump meantime will attend the values voter summit in washington d.c., before heading off to rally with supporters in pensacola, florida. now the 50th anniversary of the september 11th attack -- 15th anniversary of the september 11th attack and today u.s. house is set to vote on a bipartisan bill allowing families of 9/11 victims to sue the government of saudi arabia. fifteen of the 19 highjackers on september 11th, were from saudi arabia. president obama may veto bill over concerns it would expose americans overseas, to legal risk. meanwhile members of the congress, walk down the capitol steps this morning, to mark that september 11th, 2001 date. speaker of the house paul ryan, senate minority leader nancy pelosi and others spoke at the solemn occasion. they called for americans to unite in honoring memory of that day. well in, other news nissan is recalling over 120,000 cars and suv's after a report of brake fluid leak that resulted in fires.

craziness on our morning show today, the eagles pep band was on hand to provide a sound track as we prepare for the eagles season opener sunday against the browns and, of course, you can watch the game, right here on cbs-3. and what move was that. >> yes. >> i am a professionally trained dancer, and, and, and, and, and, right now, and, my gosh fun being outside in the heat. it doesn't feel like football weather just yet, not to me anyway i promise that we, and, transition made here, but i have to say as soon as i heard that drum line, hit that this morning i got so pumped for football season and again we will have much more football-like weather to enjoy. i mentioned just before the phrase there is breaking news in the weather center that

heat advisory has now been since extended. we will go back out to the same graphic and it has been expanded to include the shore towns, here, so out to eastern most new jersey and coastline heat advisory is now extended until 7:00 o'clock tomorrow night, and, we will turn our early surprise quite frankly because we knew it would be hot tomorrow so that isn't the bigger surprise in the world. storm scan still showing signs of life far off in the distance the beginning of the next system a frontal boundary that will fizzle nearby and we had another passage that will take place tomorrow. that next front is the one that hooks us up, with the more comfortable, air that comes our way in the days ahead. so for now, it is brutal this afternoon feeling as hot as 103, maybe hotter then that depending on your location as high as 100 tomorrow but then you you start to see some sweet relief and crazy that flirting with 90 still feels so cool but by comparison it sure will. all of the common sense things that we always talk about if you have have to be outside in this kind of heat are here for you once more. and, if you don't have a

benefit of air conditioning, remember that your car equals an oven in just a matter of minutes, check on the elderly and children a lot of them have been let out of school for the rest of the day. so make sure everyone is staying comfortable. actual air temperatures are in the lower 90's from philadelphia down to wilmington and all of southern new jersey. it is not quite as bad further north or inland you travel but it is still brutal stuff. outside palmyra cove nature park, center city sky line we have, of course south philadelphia and stadiums and further down, further inner to chester, we have got the philadelphia union match coming up here tomorrow so tall tall on energy stadium tomorrow evening it will be toesy with the southeasterly wind flow. there may be a spotty thunderstorm in the area at that point there because that is when this next cold front comes along but regardless, boys in blue will be taking on montreal and then eagles game day on sunday this is where that transition start to take place. we will start off on sunday with perhaps, a left over shower but it looks like skies start to clear, it turns out sunny, humidity starts to drop
