>> ♪ >> live from the cbs brake center in philadelphia, this is cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, we are well into september already but it's still feeling a lot like the middle of summer right now on "eyewitness news" when this oppressive heat and humidity finally comes to an end for us. good evening, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us. along with this heat we're also now looking at the chance of a few storms in parts of the area as well. meteorologist lauren casey is in our whether he sent. she's got the latest. lauren. >> thanks, natasha. yeah, we have been on this

heat and humidity streak over the last several days. today no exception but the good news is today is the last day. 94 degrees in philadelphia. we topped at 97 in trenton, 95 degrees in the lehigh valley, high temperatures today running about 10 to 15 degrees above average. temperatures right now still extremely warm. still in the 90's in allentown, sitting at 87 degrees right now in philadelphia, cooler down the shore with temperatures in the upper 70's but we have the heat and then we have the humidity on top of that. dewpoints way elevated up into the middle 70's right now along the i-95 corridor so such steamy conditions and our feels-like temperature is still at 95 degrees in the metro, 93 degrees in wilmington, feeling like 96 in allentown but a cold front upwind generating showers and thunderstorms entering parts of western pennsylvania will pass the delaware valley overnight bring us a chance of a few storms but will also bring us cooler temperatures and much lower humidity as we head into our sunday just in time for the eagles home

"eyewitness news" reporter trang do has that part of our coverage. >> reporter: the park was there place to be if you wanted to enjoy the outdoors without getting too hot. >> just fishing around. relaxing. >> reporter: how are you keeping cool out here? >> i just sit down and just chill out. >> reporter: the breeze off of the delaware made temperatures tolerable even pleasant despite midday temperatures in the mid 90's and a heat index of up to 105. >> i love the weather. it's perfect. the breeze just makes it even. have no complaints about the weather at all today. >> reporter: the sizzling forecast definitely affected the bristol lions club 33rd annual italian day at the waterfront park.

>> we get thousands of people here every year. unfortunately this year it's a little hot keeping the crowds down a little bit. >> reporter: still the huge fundraiser continued with plenty of precautions for the volunteers manning the. >> grills. >> lots of water. we cook about 800 pounds of sausage every year and my -- joe, crazy joe over there, we've got a lot of help back there but it's hot but we've got fans and we're doing a good job. >> reporter: though the national weather service's heat advisory end at 7:00 p.m. meteorologists there say we will not feel significant relief from this heat until midday sunday. in bristol bucks county i'm trang do cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> and take a look at this. a water main break flooded out the back loading dock at the monster pet store in philadelphia today. you can see the water nearly came up to that man's chest. that's how high it was. there was no damage to the inside of the store and no animals were in any danger. also authorities identify the man involved in a standoff

with police in west philly. investigators say kadeem nelson shot and wounded his sister on the 200 block of millick street during a domestic incident yesterday. and then fired the gun at officers. police returned fire and shot nelson several times. both the suspect and the woman are in the hospital. it's believed their injuries are not life-threatening. and now in the race for president, it's a war of words. hillary clinton gives her take on donald trump supporters and sparks an uproar on the campaign trail. the fireworks came 58 days before election day. cbs news correspondent wendy gillette has the latest. >> reporter: hillary clinton says she regrets remarks she made about donald trump supporters at a fundraiser friday night. >> you could put half of trump supporters into what i call the basket of deplorables. >> reporter: clinton released a statement saturday that says "last night i was grossly generalistic and that's never a good idea.

i regret saying half. that was wrong. she added that many of trump's supporters are hard working americans. trump tweeterd wow, hillary clinton was so insulting to my supporters. millions of amazing hard working people. i think it will cost her at the polls. the republican national committee said clinton's comments showed her condension. >> reporter: clinton will be in manhattan to mark the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. >> reporter: trump spent a somber saturday at the funeral of friend and supporter phyllis schlafly. she was a conservative activist and lawyer and i wasn't author who opposed communism abortion and the equal rights amendment over the course of her life. >> phyllis was there for me when it was not at all fashionable. trust me. >> reporter: trump has no

other scheduled public events until monday. wendy gillette for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> some lucky local students meantime embark on the trip of a lifetime a visit to the white house. the kids all live in aborts ford homes at the public housing site in northwest philadelphia. the strip to let youngsters know if they work hard they can achieve their dreams. they were accompanied by adults from the community totaling about 30 people. and now to an art museum mystery. a woman says a catfish fell from the sky and smacked her in the face. this bizarre incident has everybody talking as you can imagine. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh spoke to the victim today. >> reporter: usually you find catfish in the water. this one came straight from the sky. >> within a few seconds you a slammed in the face with something. i think it might have been head face and neck 'cause i smelled so bad afterwards. >> reporter: it's definitely not the morning lisa expected during her walk to a labor day boot camp class at the art

museum. >> i'm more likely to get struck by lightning than get hit by a fish falling from the sky. >> reporter: on monday morning that's what happened. >> a bird had a fish in its beak or feet and dropped it right on lisa's head. >> i immediately freaked out and fell to the ground. >> she believes the fish fell from about 50 feet overhead measured up to 18-inches and weighed about 5 pounds a little under a gallon of milk. it might sound funny but whether from the fins or from pure shock. >> i had a fever. it was swollen all the way down to here. hurt down into my neck. >> reporter: the encounter left its mark a scar under her left eye and perhaps an emotional one, too. >> i was really upset actually i was pretty hysterical. >> reporter: the next day a doctor gave lisa a tetanus shot recommended ice and prescribed antibiotics. lisa says the best medicine now is laughter. >> i think of all things to happen it was traumatic at the time but it's funny. there's so many worse things
