live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". this morning. new this morning, an active crime scene in trenton, police investigating a shooting involving multiple people. also this morning, 15 years later and the pain is still fresh for so many people. we'll take you to the emotional tribute to those who died on september 11. and, game day is finally here. it is the eagles season opener with their new quarterback carson wentz. cbs-3 is getting you ready for kick off. today is sunday, september 11, good morning, i'm rahel solomon. let's get your day started with a check on weather, and justin drabick. i went for a walk yesterday, five minutes outside, sweating profusely. >> you ran? >> more information than you want to know, i'm you. >> that's tough. i'm impressed. >> just walking. >> oh, hard core there.

oh, just walking? >> power walking, yes. >> it was hot. >> mid 90s, humidity, sticking around, more humid this morning but gets better from the morning into the afternoon. >> i'll take that. >> nice forecast coming up. still on the warm side in the 80s, overall pleasant next few days, here across the delaware valley. still great conditions ahead outside eventually, especially, starting this afternoon. now, we are waking up to some clouds across the region, colds front approaching us, that's going to help bring the change and the humidity levels later today. front not producing whole lot. dry here in center city. 79 degrees, southwest breeze kicking up at 12. feels like 82 when you factor in the humidity. temperatures across the region low 70s even up in the poconos at this hour, close to 80 philadelphia, if mid 70s near the shore. we zoom into suburbs, again just like yesterday morning, not much change in the temperatures, so, everybody's pretty much uniform. dew point still running high. this is a tropical air mass, humidity very high with the dew point in the low and mid

70s, this afternoon, talking about dew points dropping into the 50's, so remember, 65 is kind of that thresholds, once you're above the dew point at 65, it feels humid. we'll get below that in the next 12 hours or so. front, trying to bring few scattered showers up into the poconos early this morning, other than that, some clouds, by the afternoon, we will see increasing sunshine, great news if you are headed to the link, check out the eagles opener against the browns, it will be warm, not feeling like football so much, 84 degrees, but at least more comfortable, northwest breeze at ten to 15 miles per hour. forecast hi, still above average, 85 today. eighty-three at the shore. mid 70s in the poconos, if you like fall like conditions, wait few more days, we've got that coming up in the day. i'll explain coming up in a few minutes. >> see you soon, thanks, justin. new this morning, police investigating shooting in trenton, new jersey, police tell us shots were fired, just after 3:00 this morning in the 800 block of greenwood avenue. no word yet on how many people are hurt. and details are still coming into our news room, but we'll update you on the story as we

get more information. >> this morning the nation pauses to remember the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks there is year marks 15 years since the fateful day. take a look. live picture this morning. thousands of people will be gathering at the 9/11 memorial for the annual commemoration ceremony. there will be six moments of silence, beginning at 8:46. the time the first plane hit the north tower of the worlds trade center. houses of worship throughout new york sitly toll their bells, and families of victims of the 2001 attacks as well as the 1993 bombing at the world trade center will read the names of the people killed. last night, the tribute in light from the 9/11 memorial museum appeared over lower manhattan, has shined every year on the solemn anniversary, memorial made up of 88 search lights positioned to represent the twin towers. some of the victim towers will gather at the garden every reflection in yardley. it will start at 8: 30. eighteen of the victims from bucks county, last night

family members recalled gathered to hit their loved ones in a tragedy that hit so close to home. reporter trang do was there. >> we never forget the sacrifice made that day. >> at dusk they gathered at the garden of reflection on the eve of a somber and painful anniversary. by candlelight, with tears in their eyes, they remembered. >> ♪ >> the 29377 -- the 2977 victims, were remembered, 18 from bucks county. >> jennifer reese was just 11 years old when she lost her older brother josh who was working in tower one. >> it is so important that his memory lives on that you know i take that painful situation and i expose it to the world because i don't want him to be forgotten. >> every year the community gathers in this place of peace to make sure that never

bearers walked from memorial plaza to the wall of names to honor the victims. our jay clark in philadelphia at the flight 93 memorial, to support his brother who was honored to car a lantern. >> know how much joy he probably has for going up there, and representing one of the fallen members of flight 93. >> flowers were also placed among the lanterns during the service in remembers rans, those who attended say the service was both comforting and sad. president owe bamm a.m. will hold a moment of silence at the white house, then attend a memorial this morning at the pentagon. that's the only site that doesn't have a visitor center or museum to help people learn about what happened on september 11, 2001. victims' family members are trying to change that. there is a plan in the works to build one on a lot next to the pentagon memorial in arlington, virginia, so far the group has raised $6 million but they need 25 million total to get the project offer the ground. our coverage continues on line at cbsphilly.com and throughout the morning right

here on cbs-3. coming up: how a father used history to use a personal tribute for thousands of families. the story is ahead in just about ten minutes. hillary clinton and donald trump will set aside the campaign today. both will visit grounds is her tow pay their respects to the victims of 9/11. on friday clinton gave her take on donald trump supporters, and as wendy gillette report, it sparked quite an uproar on the campaign trail. >> hillary clinton says she regret remarks she made about donald trump's supporters at a fundraiser friday night. >> you could put half of trump's support nears what i call the basket of deplorable. >> clinton released a statement saturday that says, quote, last night i was grossly generalist i can, and that's never a good idea. i regret saying half that was wrong. she added that many of trump's support remembers hard-working americans. trump tweeted: wow, hillary clinton was so insult to go my supporters. millions of amazing

smacked her in the face. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh, tells us the bizarre incident has everyone including the woman talking. >> usually you find catfish in the water. this one came straight from the sky. >> within a few second i was slammed in the face with something. i think might have been head, face and neck, because i smelled so bad afterward. >> definitely not the morning lisa expected during her walk. to a labor day boot camp class at the art museum. >> i'm like i'm more likely to get struck by lightning than get hit by a fish from the sky. >> monday morning that's being actually what happened. >> apparently a bird had a bird in its beak, and dropped it, right on lisa's head. >> i immediately freaked out and fell to the ground. >> she believes the fish fell about 50 feet overhead measured up to 18 inches, and weighing about 5 pounds, that's a little under gallon of milling. >> it might sound funny, but whether from the fins or from pure shock? >> i was cold, i had a fever,

tolerable. nearby the bristol lion's club, 33rd annual italian day celebration, went on as scheduled, as the waterfront park. now while the event was on, high temperatures, they did impact the event. >> we get thousands of people here every year, and unfortunately this year it is a little hot. and keeping the crowds down, little bit. >> and organizers made sure there were fans and water for the volunteers, manning the grills. >> and justin, you know, with the weather being so hot yesterday, with the franklin fountain -- >> third day in a row. today will be another good day for ice cream. still warm, but humidity drops little bit. also like the eagles green, you're sporting right there. i can't dot green because we have the green wall. i would be invisible. but that would be pretty fun. >> it would be fun for me. >> laughing at me, would you love that, wouldn't you? let's talk about this weather. we do have changes coming at me specially this afternoon, drop the humidity, still will be warm this time of year mid 80s, overall much better than the past few days, another beach day looking live, ocean

city little haze outside this morning maybe. sunrise coming up in over an hour or so, but overall, some clouds, early in the morning, then we should see more sunshine for the jersey shore, coming in this afternoon, so it gets little better by the afternoon hours, wind picks up and you'll also feel the humidity drop, especially there is afternoon along the jersey coast. now, it is all because after cold front. still situated just to the west. so if you are waking up to some clouds, few breaks in the clouds, depending on where you are, couple of showers really just confined across northern pennsylvania right now, still maybe can't rule out sprinkle or two specially north and west of the city over the next couple of hours, once this front passes, you'll feel the difference, wind will switch out of the northwest, drier air mass starts to build on in. clearing out nicely in western pennsylvania, so i would say about mid-morning, have the clouds around, see that sunshine increasing. it is warm ahead of the front. near 80 degrees, this hour, 79 in allentown and philadelphia, 78 in wilmington, so not much change in the temperatures ahead of the front. but look at the other side of the front.

61 degrees in pittsburgh, and cleveland, that's some nice air. and that's headed our way. just give it few more hours it, will get here. so to give you idea what we're headed for, dew point temperature right now, back this earlier, 72, that's hi, feels tropical, oppressive humidity out there. this afternoon should start to get into the 50's, pleasant conditions returning as far as humidity levels coming in later this afternoon, and really for the next few days. check it out. lower humidity today. overall it is not bad. monday, going to be gray, very pleasant conditions, same deal tuesday, slight bump in the humidity on wednesday, then it drops again for the end of the week, as more typical fall-like air mass starts to return. now, the reason for the change in humidity, the winds, right now still out of the southwest ahead of the front. once the front passes this afternoon, 2:00, everybody's feeling the nice northwest wind. that knocks the humidity out. we still have the northerly winds in play on monday, keeping things nice and comfortable. shore forecast it get better through the day, if you don't like the clouds, wait few more hours, you'll get the

sunshine, 83 degrees, winds little breezy out of the northwest this afternoon up to 20 miles per hour, uv index still on the high side even with clouds around, make sure to wear the sun block, front coming through again not dropping the temperatures whole lot. not going to be dealing with 90's, but notice the drop in humidity. high pressure right on top of us tomorrow, that blocks any storms from developing, really comfortable air mass, tuesday kinds of the same deal, lot of sunshine, still pleasant. temperatures today, low and mid 80s, so good 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. then look at tomorrow morning, lower 06's -- 60s, 50's, maybe 40's, early monday morning. afternoon highs monday pretty much where they should be right around 80 degrees. overall trends, comfortable temperatures through mid week. it will be warm, at or slightly above average, but then watch what happens. thursday little drop in the jet stream. this allows the fall-like temperatures to return, same deal on friday. so, then we're dealing with temperatures below average in the 70s, but today, turns mostly sunny, less humid, 85 degrees, tonight very comfortable, mostly clear,

open up the windows, 62 for the city, 50's in the suburbs, here is the extended forecast, so still warm the next few days, comfortable, with the sunshine, and now into the 70s on thursday and friday. overnight lows into the 50's. that's good stuff there. rahel? >> good indeed. thank you, justin. today marks 15 years since the september 11 terror attacks which killed nearly 3,000 people. most of the victims were at new york's worlds trade center where hundreds every first responders rushed into the burning towers, and never came out. kenneth craig speaks with a father who used his grief to create a powerful tribute. >> this is the uniform firefighter jonathan was wearing when he was killed in the collapse of the twin towers. a 29 year old father of two, his memory lives here, at the 9/11 tribute center. >> this is very difficult space. >> jonathan's father and retired firefighter. he spent three month, searching ground zero before

he found his son's remains. and then continued combing through debris for victim for another six months. >> the best human at this could give sus shear searching, every day, 24 hours a day, hands and knees. >> during that time, the damaged liberty deli became a gathering spot for rescue and recovery workers. eventually turned the space into the 9/11 tribute center. a kind of interim museum until the official one opened in 2014. not only did it stay open, it will move to a bigger space next spring, where it will continue to tell the story of 9/11 in the most personal terms. >> i get to talk about my son. i can't tell you how many times i've cried this week. >> pouring himself in his work has helped him move forward. but it hasn't relieved the pain. >> the only thing 9/11 means to me is that i have not seen my buddy in 15 years. and i miss

with justin joining us now, justin, that's what i'm looking forward to hearing, lower humidity. >> i think a lot of people r warm, mid 80s, we'll take it, still humid this morning, so stepping outside, what are you talking about? you're lying. got to give it few more hours. >> okay. >> it get better. stays like that pretty much throughout the upcoming week, if you like fall-like conditions, you'll love the end of the week. talk about that in a little bit. but coming off high temperature of 95 degrees yesterday, so put it into that heatwave there, as temperatures should stay in the 80s today. waking up with temperatures close to 08 already this hour, we have clouds around, because of the colds front, will bring the change upper 70s still to the west, lancaster, reading, 79 up in allentown, as well as doylestown, palmyra new jersey, not much change in these numbers across the region, than is what it feels like when you factor in the humidity. lower 80s, this hour, up in the lehigh valley, philadelphia, feels like 80 in dover, delaware, and we have to get this front through before the humidity drops.

still, to the west, maybe a shower or two specially in the poconos early this morning. other than that, some clouds. then once that front passes, we'll start to see the skies break up little bit. so again, this morning, it is going to be cloudy, humid, temperatures hanging out in the 70s this afternoon, increasing sunshine, humidity drops hour by hour, temperatures still warm, in the mid 80s. not going to feel like football weather, but at least it is dry, weather should impact the game here, 84 degrees with high temperature, gets comfortable for the afternoon, northwest breeze at ten to 15 miles per hour, but still running above average, say hi temperature up around 85 degrees, in philadelphia, gets better at the shore, partly sunny, 83 for this afternoon, and mid 70s, up in the poconos, and if you like 70s for highs, you will love the seven day forecast, talk about that coming up in just a few more minutes, rahel, we send it back to you. >> justin, see you soon. we just nerds justin, not quite feeling like football but yes it is here, and if you bleed green, probably cannot wait to see carson wentz run through the tunnel today for the season opener. cherri gregg from sister station "kyw news radio" live
