state leaders should follow toomey lead. no wonder leading pennsylvania police organizations endorse pat toomey as best to protect our families. independence usa pac is responsible for the content of this advertising. >> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". right now at noon, a little boy caught with bags of heroin in kinder garden, good afternoon, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm brooke thomas. police say that little boy was found with 30 packet of heroin in his lunch box. and now, they're investigating how this happened. cleve bryan joins us from trenton to tell us more. cleve? >> brooke, trenton police say this is an active

investigation. they're still trying to determine how that five year old ended up with the bags or the packets really of heroin in his hundred p box. but they say the good news is right now they don't believe that any children ingested the drugs. so here's what we know. trenton police say on monday they were called to the international academy every trenton charter school bellevue avenue for report of recovered drugs, as the school with kindergartners, to second graders, teacher reported five year old playing what looked like candy wrapper, took closer look found it was some casino every drugs in a folded wax paper, something the police referred to as a deck. the teacher looked in the student's lunch bag, found 29 more packets which police say were heroin, the child was taken to the hospital and tested for precaution but no drugs were found in the child's system. police say they're working with child protective services as they investigate this indent and try to determine who put the drugs in the lunch box, but as of right now, they've made no arrests, we talked to the charter school,

they haven't put out any information, not talking us to, but they say they'll put out release sometime today, addressing the incident and what they're doing to keep student safe. that's the latest from trenton, cleve bryan, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". thanks so much, cleve. we look forward to the update. following breaking news just into cbs-3. police on the scene of shooting in kensington that happened within the past hour, across the street from the school. our greg argos is live at fourth and lehigh, greg, what do you know so far? >> well, jim, this is a developing situation, but i'm going to layout exactly what we do know so far here at fourth and lehigh, like you mention, in kensington, in the very large police scene right here where the shooting happened within the past hour, we're told by witnesses if you notice there is a table over there with some toilet paper. the victim in this case, according to witnesses, was selling toilet paper or selling those supplies. and he was shot we're told by folks who were here in the area. this is fairhill square, if you will notice to the left here, there is an elementary school. this is julia, elementary

school, here at fourth and lehigh in kensington. that school because of the shooting went into lockdown. we're told by school district officials that lockdown has since been lifted. still a lot of information that we're trying to gather about exactly what went down here at fairhill square. once again, at fourth street, and lehigh, in kensington, a developing situation, police here at the scene, and you can see right here, live, actually increasing the area that they're searching, the crime scene itself here live as we're reporting about this shooting. once again, for parent of student here at julio deburgos by lent all elementary school, the shooting was not at this school, it was across the street at this parkment once again the school lockdown has been lifted. great news, we're going to gather more information about exactly what went down with this shooting in just a few minutes, but nor now live here in kensington, i'm greg argos, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". thank you so much, greg. meanwhile in other news pennsylvania state police want to know if alcohol was a factor in the early morning

car crash that claimed the life of a five year old boy. chopper three over the eastbound lanes every interstate 78 in hellertown, northampton county. the five year old boy was killed, another two year old girl and four adults were injured. investigators say they found open containers of alcohol at the scene. several south jersey fire companies are cleaning up after battling three alarm fire in atlantic city. chopper three was right over the 3-story building at south dover and harrisburg avenues where the fire broke out upper floors just before 9:00 this morning. everyone got out of the house in time. there are no reported injuries. so far there is no word on the cause. the search continues for the cause of a late night fire that seriously damaged a 120 year old church in pennsauken camden county. no one was hurt. but firefighters say heavy smoke and furniture inside made it tough for them. they say the fire started in the basement. the small congregation hopes to rebuild soon, and they're hoping to hold services this

sunday. we haven't decided as of yet. and i guess it all depends on the smoke damage in the sanctuary park. maybe we can use the top area. >> precaution, and we are very fortunate that nobody got hurt and the fire was limited to the basement with some minor extension. >> they say the brick basement actually helped keep the fire from spreading outside and upstairs. well, sumner september. we're returning to the 90s today after a break from the heat. "eyewitness news" at city hall this morning, what was already feeling a bit hot and humid. let's hope it is not going to last too long. meteorologist, katie fehlinger live in the cbs-3 skydeck where she is tracking the 90's again, katy? >> yes, again, thankfully just for very brief return to the 90s here today, jim, before we do see return to more fall-like conditions. so, it is quick, it is out of here, and then we're back to more comfort level. i have to tell you though it feels pretty good outside. even though you will start to notice tad muggier as the day

goes on, overall, not oppressive at all. it is just a raise in the dew point you may start to notice. obviously got bright full sunshine here. we take you out to the computer graphics, show you on storm scan, not heck of a lot to see. currently temperatures in the 80s, depending where you are, still in the 70s, mount pocono, portions of the jersey shore line, in pace to climb easily here. already at 87 degrees in palmyra. right around the northeast philly area. now as the day progresses again talking about a daytime high of 90 degrees. that's going to flirt at least with the record high of 92, that lasted back in 1995. but there is a cold front that's on the way. and you'll notice there is a thunderstorm icon out in the poconos, coming up we will talk more about this chance for wet weather later on tonight, with this next cold front passage, but also, another chance for storms down the road here. and it looks like it may come this weekend. so i'll let you know whether you need to reschedule outdoor plans a bit later in the show. guys, back to you for now.

ship was in international waters, little baby boy was named newman. >> here is the election day countdown. fifty-four days until the polls open. and, it seems like every hour bridges new issue for the presidential candidate. hackers leaked private emails from former secretary of state colin powel, harsh words for both candidates. meanwhile, the new york attorney general wants to know how much trump is really giving to charity. craig boswell has the story from washington. >> messages posted on dc leaks. com from colin powell's g mail account show the former secretary of state has issues with both major presidential candidates. in one e-mail, the republican calls donald trump a national disgrace, international poria. powell also criticized hillary clinton and her campaign, for using him to justify her use of private e-mail servers at the state department. he wrote: sad things that hrc could have killed this two years ago by merely telling everyone honestly what she had

to give you idea, it is such an important story in the world of weather. but, yes, it is the name of the super typhoon, moranti. twenty-plus inches of rain in a matter of just couple of days. you are talking devastating flooding in this part of the world. now, as we turn back to our side of the planet here, on the eastern seaboard, yes, we just mentioned julia. far weaker of a system. still certainly expected to bring some pretty heavy rain most notably portions of south carolina. as far as our weather is concerned, basically looking at this next frontal boundary, as later as this afternoon, the further north you go, but in terms of julia, jim was asking, okay, will this have any impact on us? i don't think so. take a look where this is headed. one thing, barely topical storm. gotten relatively modest sustained winds speeds 40 miles per hour, it is going to eventually beheading further north. and it is staying inland. but, it loses its steam with

time here. we expect essentially just fizzling. turning back to the frontal boundery, that you saw on the larger scale radar, moment ago. by the time we hit the late afternoon, talking far northwestern suburbs, so lehigh valley, poconos, i80 corridor, could you see shower or thunderstorm out of. >> this and perhaps by the time we hit 7:00 maybe 8:00 there is still a linger spotty shower here and there. but the further south you go, you're in the sunshine until that sun officially drops on the horizon, and that will happen after 7:00. meanwhile, this is just going to continue to fizzle. sort of loses its moisture source because the brunt of the energy getting swopt off into new england and atlantic canada. dry frontal passage. by the time we hit noon tomorrow, back in full sunshine folks. looks like really nice tranquil couple of days coming up. so cold front crosses with little fanfare. it does it part, lives up to its name, cool front though to bring us cooler air, so back from the 90s to the upper 70s by tomorrow. and with lower humidity it, will feel real comfortable to you. bee keep the theme going on

friday, nice way to wrap up the week. saturday not bad. little more moisture to work w so few additional clouds. see the temperatures rebounds to the 80s. not looking at air temperatures here, rather dew point temperature. remember the lower the number is, the drier it feels. now, we're right about the point that it starts to feel a little humid outside. it is comfortably warm in my personal opinion out there right now. but, you have got dew points dover, millville, already in the 70s. does feel muggier the further south you travel. we're in the low 80s here at the airport, atlantic city, but depending on location it is a little hotter. eighty-eight after all, just across the river from the city. meanwhile, overlooking south philly tonight, we are going to see the temperatures right around 80, for the next home game with our phils and quick check on that seven day for you, beautiful tomorrow, and friday, saturday not bad. sunday, though, especially in the p.m. hours, we see the next shot for showers and more widespread storms. we could frankly use the rain at this point. just timing is not -- mainly p.m. hours. >> thanks so much, katie. this is sure to be the cutest
